I mostly use Photoshop! there are better + cheaper ones out there, but for various academic/career/"well now I'm used to this one" reasons I've stuck with it. :') I have also used Clip Studio Paint, which is a much more artist-friendly program, and I hear Krita is a good free one!
I'm super picky about brushes, so a lot of my favorites come down to "they just...FEEL right"; in particular I like lines that have a little texture to 'em and a very specific sweet spot of responsiveness/pressure sensitivity. your mileage may vary!
