is this gonna get me fired you think
kinda bullshit the English language doesn't have a discrete word for an unlit campfire. you light a campfire, but what is it before you light it? also a campfire, I guess. I need to invent a word that can be intuitively understood as "the arrangement of wood that is intended to become a campfire"
well "an arrangement of wood that is intended to become a campfire" sounds like it's just a bundle of sticks and I think there is a collective word for that maybe
something about Toy Story toys is so strange to me. versions of animated characters based on real world toys, turned back into toys that are slightly different than the actual toys. slinky dog with a rubber spiral instead of a classic metal slinky. the porcelain bo peep and cloth woody turned into jointed plastic action figures. when toy story 4 came out and i saw a $30 talking action figure of forky, a character made out of a spork and a pipe cleaner, i stood in the walmart toy aisle staring at it like cameron from ferris bueller's day off staring at that painting in the art museum

Build a Baldy Village to House Your Hairless Hoardes…
I have never read or watched Death Note and i know the whole ‘book that kills people’ premise but from all the shit i see on here it seems to be two teenaged boys acting out this scene over and over
You're not wrong
Wait you’re a white guy named Brian who is into pup play omg it’s just like family guy
Do you think Michael Crichton had a deep-seated hatred of theme parks because he was too tall for all the rides?
Yes.
[tumblr] is a flat circle.

ambitious indie project this, surprise box-office hit that, iron lung (production budget: $3mil) is the 'someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this, my family is dying' tweet.
set construction: $800
cast & crew wages: $1,200 + uber eats
fake blood (assuming generous discount on bulk purchase): $2,000,000 i am so not kidding i did the math this is nuts
editing: average adult body-weight equivalent in monster energy drinks
update when markiplier announced he's producing the dvd/blu-ray himself i was like cool he's personally supervising the process and then he was like no i mean i'm making them myself at my house and i imagined some kind of complicated gargantuan contraption dutifully chugging along 24/7 blowing up this man's electricity bill and then he was like
anyway if you buy an iron lung dvd/blu-ray: it was made on a printer-sized machine. at markiplier's house.
since this post unexpectedly blew up i'd like to note that the $2mil. of fake blood thing is unconfirmed and based on some rough calculations i did after googling 'fake blood price per gallon'. i'm sure they were able to get a more significant discount on the kind of bulk purchase that cleared all stock available in the state of wherever this movie was filmed, but i have no source. the rest of those numbers are what we in the industry call a funnypost
the dvd/blu-ray production was confirmed on a livestream i caught accidentally while dicking around on youtube that is now members only (likely this one but idk, i don't have youtube membership money). other things confirmed in that stream: the dvd/blu-ray burner cost $4k and iirc burns 8 blu-rays an hour. markiplier's one concession to productivity is that he might get a second burner so he can make 16 blu-rays an hour, at his house.
Let's take a moment to appreciate just how amazing the title cards were for Batman the Animated Series.
Oh! I actually know what made these look so iconic!
The backgrounds for the entire series were done on black paper, a first for any animated show. It's Batman, which means everything is at night and incredibly dark. So, the majority of the backgrounds were going to be black anyways and using black paper would cut down on the time it took to create all of the backgrounds. Adding color over the black paper instead of the traditional method gave it a much more stylized look that helped make it iconic.
It also forced some other creative choices, such as using an airbrush to do all of the background art. During the early testing, they found that using an airbrush was easier to apply paint with than a paintbrush and that it looked better. Airbrushing let them be more experimental with painting techniques, such as the spattery fades you can see in the "Bane" and "Deep Freeze" title cards above or the soft, deeply shadowed face on "the Last Laugh." The overall effect of airbrushing on a black background is a much darker, moodier vibe than could be achieved with a traditional approach.
They cared very deeply about the art of the show and how they were going to create it. It wasn't just about the story or the character. In the words of co-creator Eric Radomski: "As opposed to making shows just to sell toys, we've made quality films."
