I Am A Little Goblin

i watched strike back and just came back from crying my eyes out and wondering what the hell am i gonna do while waiting for season five cuz i hate this cliffhanger-like thing and the suspense it gives me. but:

this whole season has been about mari learning the ropes of being a guardian— a role that she’s been thrown into unceremoniously becuz fu’s identity was compromised. she had no one to guide her becuz a) no one knew her secret (at first) b) even if they knew they couldn’t teach her and of course c) the person who she looked up to as her mentor in all things miraculous and go to for advice has no recollection of anything as has to be treated like every other citizen

and so she’s left to build up more walls then she already did which ultimately failed (telling alya about being ladybug) — which helped cuz she had someone looking out for her behind (rena furtive)

but she also put more pressure on herself to be a guardian of her own too-high standards and pushed away her partner becuz of all the trauma she got from chat blanc that she couldnt talk to anyone about becuz no one would be able to relate and help her and it is clearly also affecting her and also becuz she wants to try to protect him as much as she can in her own way

so there’s a rift between them, as chat feels more and more isolated and unneeded by his partner and getting information hidden from him all the time even though they are partners

so they finally have that conversation when they were arguing. tho of course- not fully resolved as they were in the middle of a fight- but it’s getting the attention it needs

and here, bless adrien, even after ladybug hid so much from him and kept him wondering in the dark, and being betrayed by ladybug, he still tried to talk her out of her panic get helped her get into his bathroom so she can detransform and showed her that even though she’s right that can’t trust him cuz wut if he is felix?? to please just trust in him this one time becuz the miraculouses are in danger and there is no time.

and even after everything is lost and the future seems bleak becuz ladybug made a mistake a trusted the wrong person, and becuz of that mistake there is no one she can call on for help anymore and paris is in more danger, chat still stuck by her side + reassured her (esp after seeing her panic attack showing just how much she’s been suffering on her own and putting so much pressure on herself) that she is not alone in this fight just like she was as the guardian and doesnt blame her becuz ladybug is a person, and that they are going to fix the mistake together, as ladybug and chat noir

Time continues marching ever forward. All that remains are memories, but even those are ephemeral. Give it week, a month, a year. Like an aging polaroid, it will inevitably fade to a fond remembrance that we were there to see it end.
