He felt his face flush immediately at the contact, all of his skin instantly aflame as a result of some simple touch. He almost felt embarrassed about it, but he supposed that it had been a long time since he felt any sort of positive touch from another human being. Craving it seemed almost natural. He cautiously sat down on the couch, thinking way too much over the simple hand on his shoulder guiding him.
He snapped back to his senses as the question reached his ears. “ Oh! I’m not much of a tea guy, actually, but I wouldn’t mind something to eat, ” he grinned in a blatant attempt to distract himself from how worked up he was getting just moments ago. He had a reputation to maintain, dammit, he wasn’t about to let some pretty boy magician totally shatter it like glass with a ghost of a touch.
“ But, I’ll take some tea if it’s all that you have. ”
“I don’t see the harm in that.” Howl chimes as he strides towards the kitchen, any excuse to cook was a good one. for a moment Howl’s back at the fire place, frying pan in hand as Calcifer continues to complain
“He isn’t going to leave if you feed him-”
The pan is pressed down onto the fire as the sorcerer ignores the demon. “Heat this for me, will you, Calcifer?” the blonde asks as he’s striding back to the kitchen, rummaging through his fridge for food. “How does Steak and eggs sound?” there’s a couple of raw steaks pulled from the fridge with one hand and a basket of eggs plucked from the table before he ever receives an answer from Jeff.
Blood stained fingers delicately place one of the steaks in the pan as the other is laid in the basket with the eggs, set on the coffee table with the discarded kitchen knife. The blonde speaks over the sizzling of the meat in the pan, “so, you’re Jeff, I take it?” the start of a calm conversation as Howl cooks, pressing the steak down gently with a wooden spoon, the smell already starting to drift through the air. “You’re quite the talk of the town.” he doesn’t turn to look at the killer, fully focused on cooking for him, instead.

Jeff stopped as the knife was carefully moved out from his grasp, staring. “ Why aren’t you… ” he spoke just above a whisper while choosing his words very carefully, “ …afraid? ” Fingers snaked their way into the mess of black hair, twisting in the locks as he refused to break eye contact. This was not at all what he was used to. What was with this guy?
Just like that, Jeff could feel himself be overwhelmed with a sense of exhaustion. His eyes darted between Howl and the knife that was taken from him before he found himself leaning against the other man. “ Okay, but just because I haven’t found somewhere else to stay tonight, ” he mumbled, now avoiding the other’s gaze. He was too tired to fight him on this.
There’s a gentle smile from Howl as he nods to Jeff’s reluctant agreement to stay the night. “I thought so.” he hummed, free hand wrapping gently around shoulders as he guided the other towards the couch in front of Calcifer’s fireplace, much to the little demon’s dismay.
"Howl, I don’t think this is a good idea. what about you and the kid?”
“Only for the night.” Howl seemingly shrugged off the fire’s complaint with a gentle wave of his hand, agreeing with Jeff staying for only tonight. “Would you like some tea?” He asks, setting the knife on the coffee table. Ignoring the fireside comments about putting too much trust into the murderer. “or would you rather just get some rest?”
