Hey, everyone! Some of you might have seen my post about my accident, where a guy on an electric bike ran me over while I was on the sidewalk, crushing my foot and injuring the back of my head. Well I am still working on getting better, but the medical expenses are definitely catching up a bit - I have insurance but I still have to pay out of pocket for some things and my mom is helping me out a lot, but I want to make things a little easier for her. I still need some medications and mobility aids I would like to be able to pay for, along with upcoming doctor's appointments.

So I set up a Kofi goal! Absolutely no pressure to help out, I get everyone is struggling nowadays, but any little bit helps to just take some pressure off. Thank you guys so much!

It really is astonishing how every single week, 50% of the fandom shows up at the Non-Linear Unreliable Narrators Show, and they're like "yay i'll have a big bowl of it please!"

And then Rolin Jones is like "Sure thing! Welcome to the Non-Linear Unreliable Narrators Show restaurant! We have one thing on the menu and it's that! Here is your big steaming bowl of Non-Linear Unreliable Narrators, we worked really hard on this batch <33"

And then 50% of the fandom is like "ummmmmmmmmmm what the fuck? you just SKIPPED all the good bits? you SKIPPED it? it all happened OFF SCREEN and now we will NEVER get to see anything, there is NO HOPE, we lost our ONE SINGLE CHANCE to see it and there are no further chances in the future????? You hate us? You don't care about us????? the very idea that someone could sit down, watch lestat puke while still trying to rationalize the abuse, have a full blown panic attack over it when louis yells that there is no rationalizing this, and then go say it's consensual...that it's not portrayed as abuse...insane...

i also think a lot of people aren't really getting the *point* of louis' reaction. it's extremely harsh and judgmental and completely insensitive to the fact that lestat is being abused, but that is the purpose of it. the entire season is lestat attempting to justify it. this is louis saying that you cannot justify it. there is no rational way to justify that happening. and when lestat has a breakdown over it, they both sort of realize at the same time that this means lestat has been suffering incestuous sexual abuse for 200 fucking years.

it overwhelms lestat, and it clicks for louis. that's when he changes tacts, when he comforts lestat, when he gently tries to help him admit that it's been abuse all along in the bar. it's so realistic, such a necessary sequence.

i think there is unfortunately a knee jerk reaction people have to abuse like this, esp when it's mother/son, where it's just "gross", "weird", or "sick", as louis says. where the child is not taken to be a victim, somehow. i think the show is very honest in having this be louis' initial reaction, until he sees lestat's panic, until he properly thinks it through for a second. and then he gets it, and he feels horrible about what he said. again, it's just all very realistic and bittersweet. everyone involved did an incredible job with this storyline imo.

I honestly find it quite strange how some people who claim to love claudia refuse to accept that louis is also her abuser. Putting the blame entirely on lestat feels genuinely insane to me and i say this as someone whose favorite character is literally louis

Perhaps that's why episode 6 felt out of place to them, as this was quite clear to me from the minute he begged lestat to turn this child without her consent to fix their marriage and continued to use her as a way to appease his own guilt over the things he'd done

She was never truly her own person to him, rather an extension of himself and she knew this too so it's crazier to me that people are shocked she hated him just as much as lestat

I guess i also just fail to understand how we're watching a show about literal monsters and people are still having debates over who is more morally correct than the other

like. that was claudia. the real claudia. for the first time. and she was awful. and that’s Correct. the claudia we knew this whole time — that was claudia as told by louis. recalled as softer and smaller, in the same way lestat was recalled as larger and more aggressive.

once, maybe, she loved louis, when she was truly still a child. and of course he had to believe she always did, at least a little. but through the years following? by the time she died, a grown woman still reduced to his daughter? what love would she have left for him?

she was a vampire. and good at it. she was always lestat’s daughter. she is every bit the evil of his evil.

that scene wasn’t character assassination. louis’s retelling for the first two seasons was character assassination.
