Imagine if the wolf witchers had a book of the most dangerous creatures a witcher has ever encountered and lived to write about. A book older than any witcher alive, even Vesemir, with a faded cover and dozens of different handwritings, from being added to every year. The witchers spend a night each winter reading through it, both as a way to update it and as a reminder of all those before them lost to the monsters and the few lucky enough to survive.
Itās meant to be a very somber night, made bearable by white gull and company. And it usually was, truly, butā
But then Jaskier came along, and, wellā¦he would like it be known that this was in no way, shape, or form his fault. If heād known what was going to happen, he would have begged off being included in the ritual, said something about being unusually tired and just gone to bed. But now it was, unfortunately, a little too late for that.
āJaskier.ā
Jaskier took a long sip of the mulled wine heād been offered in place of the witcher beverage, wondering how this had gone so horribly wrong so quickly. He hadnāt even done anything this time! At least, not right now. It wasnāt his fault that when Vesemir asked if anyone had seen aā
āAināt no way your pretty boy bard saw a Siren and lived to tell the tale, Geralt.ā Lambert rolled his eyes with a sneer that made Jaskier want to bristle. āI donāt care if it doesnāt smell like a lie, he probably just saw a bit of driftwood and seaweed and he was running away before he could be eaten.ā
The witcher laughed meanly, and Jaskier didnāt bother to hold back his scowl this time, marching over to see the drawing in the book.
āI did too! It looked just like this! Itāoh.ā Jaskier frowned down at the drawing, realizing it was a bit different from the Siren heād seen.
āSee? Itās okay, little bard, not everyoneās cut out to hunt monsters.ā
Jaskier pushed the sword-callused hand off his shoulder, tilting his head as he looked at the drawing again. āI mean, it looked quite a bit like that, though. But the drawing says the tail was green, and the one I saw had a deep purple tail, almost black. Oh, and she had these extra fins where a humanās thighs would be, along with this sort of crown ofāā
Jaskier looked up, about to motion with his hands the strange fins that fanned out around the sirenās head, only to realize that the other witchers were now all staring at him, eyes wide, mouths practically gaping.
āā¦what? I didnātāis that not a siren? I justāwoah! Geralt, whatāā
Jaskier floundered as he was pulled roughly into the other manās chest, a low rumble vibrating through Jaskier from where Geralt was holding onto him for dear life. Melitele help him, the witcher was acting like Jaskier had just tried to walk off a cliff or something, what on earthā
āYouāyou saw a Siren Queen? How did youāā Vesemir shook his head, a look of what Jaskier was now realizing was awe flickering across his face. āNo oneās ever gotten close enough toāto see the details, and record them, not forā¦ā the older witcher shook his head, and Jaskier felt his stomach twist a bit, realizing he might haveāwell, to put it franklyā
āWhat happened?ā Eskel asked softly, amber eyes searching.
Jaskier bit his lip, shifting minutely from where he was practically seated in Geraltās lap, the arms wrapped around him still as tight as a rope and not likely to loosen any time soon it seemed.
The bard sighed. āIā¦well, in my defense, I didnāt know she was dangerous. I was playing my lute, you see, and then I justāshe was just there! Honest!ā Jaskier gestured emphatically, knowing he probably wasnāt doing the story justice, but still a little panicked at how close heād apparently come to death.
āAnd she justāā Jaskier shrugged helplessly, as well as he could at least while still in the pseudo-hug. āShe wanted to listen, I think? And so I showed her some songs, and she seemed to like the mournful romance ones, so I played her a few more of those, and then she left.ā
The others blinked at him, and for a second, Jaskier thought that would be it. It was true, really. The beautiful Siren had left after heād sung for her, and heād gone off to the little cottage heād found for the night as well.
It was just, wellā
āJaskier.ā
He froze, unfortunately recognizing the tone that Geralt was using. It felt like he was practically burning under the unseen force of his bright gold eyes digging into the top of Jaskierās head.
āWhat? She left! What more do you want me to say? Would you like me to articulate how large of a splash she made as she dove back into the sea, the way the sunlight caught on her raven tressesāā
āJaskier.ā
The bard pursed his lips.
āā¦so maybe I went back the next dayāā
āYouāā
āOf all theāā
āWhyāā
āJaskierāā
āOh, donāt you āJaskierā me!ā He hissed, turning sharply up and out to look Geralt in the eyes. āI had no clue she was thisāthis monster to end all monsters, because you never tell me anything unless I pry it painfully, bit by bit, out of your practically nailed-shut-jaw!ā
Jaskier yanked one arm free from the manās grip, pushing his finger forcefully into side of the witcherās face.
āAnd excuse me for seeking out the company of a willing audience! How dare someone like my music, appreciate my skill for more than the coin it brings to our purse. So yes, I came back the next day, and the next, and the next, until she told me she had to move on, some sort ofāseasonal migration, or what have you!ā
Jaskier huffed, losing steam now that Geralt seemed to feel a bit guilty. Still, he couldnāt help adding, āshe actually gave me this ring, as a thank youāā he pulled out the simple gold band on his chain. āBecause unlike some people, Shellyāā
āShelly?!ā
āāthought my playing and singing was beautiful, and not like filling-less pie.ā
Geralt actually flinched at that, looking more remorseful even than that one time heād accidentally elbowed Roach while grabbing something from his bag. The witcher let out another rumble, something softer this time, and Jaskier turned resolutely away. He was not going to fall for those down-turned lips, or that rough hand pressing insistently on his cheek, or those big, round, puppy eyesā
āIām sorry, Jask. Iāll beā¦Iāll talk, more. And itāsā¦I didnāt mean it. Truly.ā
Jaskier squinted for a moment, letting him stew in his guilt, before rolling his eyes with a small smile.
āIāll be holding you to that, you know. Winter has barely started, and Iāve got this brand new journal Iāve been itching to fillāā
āOkay, hold on. Thatās it?ā
Jaskier blinked, turning back to Lambert.
āWhat do you mean?ā
āYou justāshe justāthere was no fight?!ā
Jaskier frowned.
āNo, of course not. I mean, did you see her teeth? Her claws? There was no way Iād have won against her.ā Jaskier laughed, the very idea of going against Shelly amusing to him. It would have been like fighting a sword or something, impossible and just plain foolish!
āAnd she actually gave you the ring?ā
Jaskier nodded at Eskel, smile growing a little wider. āI think she saw my other onesāā he said, waggling his fingers. āBut it was a bit too big for me, andāā
Jaskier paused, realizing just then that if Shelly was theāthe monster, that the other witchers thought her, then the ring on his chaināthe one heād been wearing for years, right over his heart, it wasā
āEasy, Jask.ā Geralt rubbed his back, which helped soothe some of the sudden nausea, the wine settling uncomfortably in his stomach.
āGeralt, Iāā
āYou didnāt know. And itā¦maybe she just found it.ā Geralt suggested lightly. āIām sure thereās lots of sunken treasure at the bottom of the sea, from shipwrecks and such.ā
Jaskier nodded shakily, appreciating the sentiment even if he didnāt need a witcherās nose to tell Geralt didnāt believe in his own words. Still, it helped him calm down a bit, and he found himself melting back into the strong hold, feeling strangely chilled all of a sudden despite his warm clothes and the roaring fire.
The other witchers were kind enough not to comment, which Jaskier was immensely grateful for. He forced himself to relax as Vesemir turned the page, glad the topic was at least shelved for the night.
āFae.ā
Jaskier was about to laugh, when he noticed that, no, the other witchers werenāt playing a joke on him.
Unfortunately, it seemed as though Eskel had caught his change in expression, if his widened eyes were anything to go by. Jaskier tried to signal to the man to keep his mouth shut, to forget about it, but that just seemed to bring Lambert into the loop. The man swore loudly, and Jaskier sighed, letting his head thump back onto Geraltās chest.
āThey were nice! Again, all they wanted was a bit of music! Their fingers were just too tiny to play, and they looked so sad!ā Jaskier protested, remembering how their large, black eyes had seemed to fill with tears. āPlus, they even enchanted my lute for me as payment!ā
Geralt squeezed his upper arm once.
āā¦Jaskier, when you sayāā
āOh, come off it, Geralt! You know what I mean.ā
The witcher remained silent behind him, and Jaskier realized, abruptly, the man did not, in fact, know what Jaskier meant.
āGeralt, how do you think it is that my lute isnāt scuffed and scraped and warped to high heaven, what with all the roughing it we do? Not to mention that it just seems to magically reappear every time I lose it to someāsome marsh, or bandit, or what have you!ā
Jaskier didnāt even need to look at Geralt to know he was stupefied. The sharp grin Lambert had on his face was evidence enough that Geralt had somehow never noticed the magical properties of the bardās instrument.
āIāwhatever. That was truly one performance, honest! I donāt think the townsfolk liked that I performed for them much, something about the fae playing tricks on them I think, so I only spent the one night there. Didnāt want to overstay my welcome, you know how it is.ā Jaskier said. He thought back, wondering now if the tricks might have been a little moreā¦harsh, than heād initially assumed.
He winced.
Okay, so maybe heād accidentally been fraternizing with the enemy. Gosh, no wonder the crowd at the tavern that night had been so quietā
Jaskier blinked, the sound of Vesemir turning the page bringing him out of his thoughts.
āLeshen.ā
Again, a chorus of groans filled the room. The other witchers glanced at him a moment, and Jaskier shook his head in answer to their silent question.
Lambert nodded, for once looking serious. āItās a good thing, bard. Fairly sure your singing wouldnāt do much good against one of those. It takes at least two or three witchers to bring a Leshen down, and thatās if you have the right tools.ā
Jaskier nodded again, slower this time.
āI donātā¦at the risk of sounding foolish, what exactly is a Leshen?ā
Vesemir turned the book to face him, and Jaskier winced.
āOh, yeah, no, those look absolutely terrifying.ā
āOh, so thatās where you draw the line, little bard?ā Lambert drawled, seemingly amused. āNeedle-like teeth and the ability to make you dance to death doesnāt do it, but the skull is where those self-preservation instincts of yours finally kick in?ā
If Jaskier had his arms free, he would have been crossing them. As it was, he just jutted out his chin, saying, āI said they look terrifying, little Lamb. But honestly, give it a flower crown and it just ambles on away.ā
āā¦ā
āā¦ā
āā¦ā
Geralt keened.
Jaskier sighed.
He really should have just called it an early night. Something told him this conversation was going to have consequences that lasted long after the wine and White Gull were gone.
He yanked an arm free of the grip that had gotten impossibly tighter, trying not to jar the head that was now tucked on top of his own as he reached for the bottle.
He had a feeling he was going to need it for what was to come.
No thoughts but the kids being physical with Bruce. The man is built like a wall, a brick shit house, those kids are constantly pulling at him.
Jason propping himself up on his forearms against on Bruce's back to study something Bruce is showing him on the BatComputer.
Dick was used to climbing all over Bruce, standing on his shoulders, swinging off his arms etc and even though he's grown, he's still bouncing off of Bruce constantly. He will throw himself at Bruce to be caught anytime he can.
Duke will set up camp with his back against Bruce whether he's sat, laying down or standing, Duke just leans against him like he's a wall.
Steph loves to mess up Bruce's hair when he's sat. She will ranting about something or talking to him while he's working, combing his hair to stand up while he's frowning at paperwork or his iPad.
Cass likes to hold Bruce's hand. It doesn't matter what he's doing or where they are, Cass just holds onto Bruce's hand, even if he's having a conversation. Anytime somebody asks whether she's alright, Bruce just nods and says she just likes to hold his hand and she's fine.
Tim constantly collapses next to Bruce, head on his lap, legs over his legs, shoulder to his, tucked up into a tight ball just under Bruce's ribs.
Damian likes being carried by his dad at the start. Nobody but Talia really ever carried him unless they had to be Damian likes just climbing into Bruce's arms, sitting on his hip with his arms locked around Bruce's neck. When he's older, he just loves hugging his dad.
Alex OāLoughlin was in an episode of criminal minds? Steve McGarret when did you switch profession hahaha

I'm restless af, but the thought of doing anything is near overwhelming, but sitting here is making me depressed and trudging up bad thoughts, but I feel too heavy to move atm, but if I don't move I think I'll go insane
and if i said nolan's odyssey starring no greek actors and with no recognizable aspects of greek culture or involvement by greeks, is the direct legacy of white supremacist colonialism that treated ancient greece as not just the pinnacle of ancient culture, but of an artificially created "european" culture, which white western europeans and their settler descendants, as the new pinnacle of culture, were the sole spiritual inheritors of.
^^^ PEOPLE ARE STILL THERE. There's a metro station across the street from the colosseum where i found a hair in my pizza slice. We drove by ruins of an amphitheater next to a motorway in greece once. It's literally just real places where real people live and have lived. It's not mythical perfect lands that once existed. I went to Itacha in 2023 and there was not enough parking space.
Started watching h50 again recently picking up around season 3/4. I gotta say, as much as Iāve enjoyed watching it you can definitely tell itās a story written by and for a certain demographic. I wish we saw more of the female characters story arc independent of their male counterparts. I wish Chin and Konoās characters got more consideration and screen time. I wish it didnāt feel so white people perspectived and delved a little more into the island cultures and histories.
In the first half of season 4 right now. Konoās storyline couldāve have so much more depth if they spent more time exploring her internal conflict and all that. It felt like it was kind of just brushed over with āthe power of loveā without actually showing what led up to it. Also ngl the Pearl Harbor episode ending didnāt quite sit right with me. I knew from the beginning when they set up the scenario what the ending is probably gonna be like but I was still disappointed by how much of a cop out ending it felt like (no pun intended).
Overall Iām enjoying the McDanno vibes and Chin and Konoās ass kickery but damn you can really tell itās age and its creatorās biases.
Happy birthday Connor!

I was trying to sleep but hear me out.
MAYBE SPOILERS FOR THE GAME READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. But lowkey not really this is kinda its own thing now lol.
Human!Connor AU except he was Hankās adopted son along with RK900, and Cole came along way later. During the car crash both Hank and Cole were critically injured but there was only one android tech available and Hank demanded for them to operate on Cole first. Unfortunately, despite the effort not only did Cold pass, Hank didnāt even make it into the operating room.
Connor also suffered from some pretty long term injury to like his hands or shoulders or something from trying to pull out his dad and baby brother. His survivorās guilt drives him into a spiral but unlike Hank in the original, this takes form more in Connor pushing himself to his absolute limits at work to make up for being unable to save Hank and Cole. He drinks a little occasionally but his form of Russian roulette comes in a casual disregard for his wellbeing during cases.
Nines, on the other hand, was not in the car during the accident and also kind of blames himself for it. I imagine he wasnāt really talking to his family at that point because of some conflict that, in retrospect, got blown way out of proportions. Maybe he was in college out of state or something and wanted to prove himself independent of his police familyās legacy and thatās what they fought about. Anyways he rushes back but doesnāt make it in time to say his goodbyes.
Ohohoh also maybe Amanda Stern was Connor and Ninesā caretaker and she and Hank had a custody battle for the two and okay maybe she wasnāt downright abusive to the boys but she certainly wasnāt a good guardian. But both she and Hank knew the parents before they passed, and okay maybe she wanted them to follow in her footsteps and Hank thinks they should get to be normal kids and they were his mentorsā kids. Blah blah blah I donāt even know anymore i should be asleep.
WAIT I ALMOST FORGOT THE MLST IMPETAMT PART!!! Hankās conciousness was somehow uploaded into an android maybe because he was coerced into working with Stern and Kamski by Nines bc he was considering going into that field? Idk donāt ask me how. But originally android!hank was just android but as he becomes more deviant he regains more of his self. And the android was made by Kamski as kinda a twisted personal gift to Connor and Nines.
Just imagine all the angst u can fit in this bad boyā¦
does the body ALWAYS have to keep the score? maybe we could just have a friendly game this time. maybe we can just have fun without putting numbers on it
firefighter cass yaaay :} (twt prompt!!)
Was driving with my grandmother and in broken English she says āno eyes⦠no nose⦠no face. Donāt trust.ā To which I looked around wildly in search of this omen of ill portend.
Cybertruck. It was a cybertruck.
The Amazing Devil performed live and I couldnāt be there because theyāre in fucking Wales which is just Too Far and also, more importantly, their tickets sold out. Fml. Whoever took videos and posted them on YouTube thank you from the bottom of my very jealous heart.

Trying to figure out why the Hawaii 5-0 reboot (I haven't watched the original so I don't have an opinion on it ) feels so much better written than 911. At least in terms of character developments. Like they both have the same amount of time and it's frying my mind why Hawaii 5 0 feels more complex and actually is able to have continuity and nods to previous things in past arcs but 911 writers are incapable of doing the same
Like it's the same amount of tv time lmao
TO PREFACE I have only watched half the seasons of both but hereās my thus half formed thoughts. I feel like 911 uses crazy shit to draw peopleās attention, like tsunami and earthquake, and they feel very one off. They also have a lot more ācentral charactersā compared to h50, which only has 4. And even then the main focus seems to only be on Danny and Steve so itās very anchored. On the other hand 911 has a bunch of characters and seems to alternate between who the focus is on. Thatās just my thoughts tho maybe Iām wrong bc I havenāt watched either in a hot sec haha
I actually think u are very right. And that Tim wraps things so quick and is lazy about shit
Yeah and also H50 has ongoing story lines through the season thatās not just like relationship drama between characters. Like how Steveās story line is anchored w/ his beef with Wo Fat and Danny with trying to get custody of Grace and all that. I do wish we got to see more about Chin and Kono w their own big storylines tho. But again idk maybe I just forgot
Also why is this marked as mature lmao
ORV manhwa season 1 officially ended at chapter 311. WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS ONLY SEASON ONE IT 6 YEARS SINCE IT STARTED
