Being from Greece makes a lot of the arguments people give on why Israel should be destroyed sound even more ridiculous and weird. (especially when these people are also fellow greeks) ''Israel is an ethno state!!!''- You mean a nation state, and yes, so is Greece
''The founding of Israel was based on displacement of Palestinians''- Look, I don't want to minimize that at all because people losing their homes is fucking terrible but that doesn't mean the solution is expelling Israelis now. There was a population exchange between Greece and Tuurkey in 1922. Both sides ethnically cleansed people. It was a terrible thing to do. But both Turkey and Greece exist now as two seperate states with clearly defined borders (if you ignore some shit erdogan tries to pull in the agean). And you don't question Greece's or Turkey's right to not be wiped off.
''Israeli identity is fake because it was based on smth that happened 3000 years ago!!!''- Ok sorry to break it to you but us Greeks have made our entire national identity revolve around who we were 3000 years ago. And if you want to argue abt fakeness of identity I would argue ours was a less organic one. Jewish people maintained the same religion and basic belief systems for 3000 years. They continuously felt the connection with Eretz Yisrael. We switched to Orthodox christianity from whatever 12 god shit we had, we lost most of our literacy that allowed us to keep tpuch with ancient texts, we embraced so many customs from the Ottomans and YET it was still valid when we tried to reclaim our ancient greek identity to build a nation partly on the basis of that
''European colonial powers helped prop up Israel which means it is an imperialistic state!''- Do you think Greece got independence or gained more land purely through OUR military strength lol?
BTW one of the reasons i support a 2 state solution so much is bcs I think us and Turkey did a relatively fine job at accepting that although both turkish and greek populations have historically resided in both greek areas and asia minor (which today is turkey) there needs to be a compromise so that we both live in peace.

They push Jews out of their societies, brutally oppress us for centuries, massacre us as holiday traditions, force us to assimilate or convert or face death, force us to wear humiliating and identifiable clothing, enslave us, ban us from working jobs, ban us from universities, ban us from building communities, accuse us of well poisonings and plagues and of ritually sacrificing children, they burn us alive, they shoot up our grocery stores and businesses and schools and homes and synagogues, they kidnap us and execute us on camera, they accuse us of murdering their saviors, they strip us of citizenship and property, they beat us for speaking our language, they stab us for wearing our clothes, they slaughter us in the millions, they stand idly by while the slaughter happens, they accuse us of anything horrible they can think of and then they have the NERVE to be upset when we don’t want to be ruled by them anymore.

OMG YOU’RE RIGHT
"No one is illegal on stolen land."
You gonna give that land back????
No. Of course not. You're using it.
I fucking hate this rhetoric so much. Like, in terms of buzzy sound bite horseshit to sound like you care when you just want to show how you're the best at being liberal.
Just shut the fuck up.
P.S. This is not about Israel and will never be about Israel, and if you reblog this trying to make it about Israel, I will find out where you live and shit in your mailbox.
Btw, the catastrophe was that Jews were still alive despite the promise they'd be dead.
no girl we don't "understand martyrdom" because we love our children & want them to be alive while you're glad to see them dead for the Omnicause.
insert golda meir quote here
The “cis is a slur” shit is so funny because you know the people who say that are using transphobic slurs in every other sentence and assuming that cis is derogatory because all of the terms they use for trans people are so the terms transgender people use to refer to their identity must be demeaning too. It’s not but if they do invent a slur against cisgender people, I will be using it. Fuck off, default settings.
This is in the same vein as people who think “Goy” is a slur

tfw ur cumshot hits the ceiling and your parents r coming home in five minutes so you’ve got to climb up the book case to clean it off before it stains your sheets, then fall of the bookcase, bringing it down with you, and are then stuck underneath it til they come home, where you are found halfnaked, trapped under a pile of books unconscious with nut dripping from the ceiling

Leftists: Guys, race and ethnicity are actually social constructs meant to keep us separated! We’re all humans! (True!)
Also leftists when a Jewish person exists: If you’re not 100% genetically pure you can’t claim to be an indigenous person.
I'm extremely open about my support of Jews being able to live in safety in their home country of Israel. When the subject is brought up, in conversation or on the radio, I'll speak up about my stance and my beliefs. But there are times where I wonder if it's truly right of me to even "take a stance" to begin with.
I don't call myself a Zionist, because I feel that as I'm not Jewish, and it is a deeply Jewish ideology, it wouldn't be right to claim myself as one. I agree with it wholeheartedly, but a straight person defending LGBT rights doesn't make them LGBT, you know?
On one hand, I'm always happy when I see straight people show open support for the LGBT, so I think in that direction. What's important to me isn't Israel's politics (which i know nothing of) but the country and the people who live there. I'd defend the rights of someone LGBT that i hated if homophobic remarks were thrown at them, because that's just common sense.
On the other, I'm not Jewish, and I'm taking a stance on something that I ultimately know little about, and that technically does not concern me. To me, being on the defensive for a historically oppressed and persecuted minority is just the most basic, logical, common-sense thing to do, but I worry it comes across as condescending. In the end, I am just another westerner who is "choosing a side" on a conflict thousands of kilometres away from me.
I've never said "You can trust me, I'm one of the good guys!!" because it makes me feel so slimy. I sometimes leave comments on how I will always support and defend Jews no matter what, then I realise only later how performative that sounds, and I worry it may be seen as disingenuous.
I think it's important to show open and loud support for Jews in these times, especially from people who aren't Jewish, without expecting trust in return.
Anyway so, my question to jumblr is: what do you think when westerners like my ass try to take stances on this? Do you feel it's an annoyance, performative etc, how best you feel support can be given, even if the best would be to just be left alone in peace?
I don’t think it’s annoying or performative— in fact it comforts me very much. To have a person, not related to Israel or Jews in any way, in a culture with a large subsection that wants me in an oven, who defends me and my families existence, for little to no gain, is the greatest comfort I think I could have. And jsyk you can call yourself a Zionist because even though it is a Jewish ideology, it is not an exclusively Jewish ideology, in the same way I am a Male Feminist, although I am not a women, I believe they should have equal rights, making me a feminist . Thank you so so so much for your support, it means the world.
