Lads just go watch Mirror Mirror it has a good story, cares about its characters and the character arcs. Has stunning concepts, music and a layer of magic that Disney use to have with Enchanted.

Let’s title it “The Other Mother”.

This has to be one of the most laziest takes on race swapping I’ve ever seen by Disney. If you wanted representation IREDESSA was there from the beginning, YOU REALLY DID NOT HAVE TO CHANGE TINK. If you needed representation we have The movie TINKERBELLE where the heck is that at??????

Ever since I was little Belle was my favourite princess , I wanted to create something meaningful and special. Since the live action Cinderella had butterflies as the theme of the dress I decided for roses. Especially since the rose plays a central theme of the story. I created a rose pattern that has plucked flaking petals to connect back to the story since the live action dress was a fashionable disappointment. I was also thinking of perhaps making the Pearl beads into reed like pattern but ultimately settled for just pearls for this design.

At first what I would like to start of with is that even though something is a plastic replica this doesn’t mean that it can’t be harmful with its implications.

Instead of invalidating other people for perceiving this as animal cruelty because it’s a plastic head let’s just stop and look on the other end of the argument.

Although I can see this being simply like a Halloween outfit, I can also see the other end of the argument that these days animals are becoming even more extinct, lions aren’t extinct yet however this does have some implications of mockery towards animals wether you want to argue how people should interpret it, it’s nothing like us plastering a plastic head of ourselves because we aren’t in danger of becoming extinct any time soon by being hunted.

With the lion head almost being strapped to her chest it almost feels like it’s a badge or a trophy. Especially since this is a staple of the whole outfit that the focus is on.

We can all agree our mind is a very powerful tool. Things we think of ourselves is sometimes out of our own control, we let ourselves be compared to others and such we often may look for validation from things that really don’t matter.

What I find frustrating is how even in art body and beauty is criticised and when it’s considered “unrealistic” or “destructive” or “oversensual” or girls “internalise” a beauty standard I get fed up. Art never had to be realistic, we came so far from the whims of what art was for in history that Art isn’t about being realistic it’s about giving life, message and character to something you give value to.

We take that away from an artist artwork when we mix our own insecurities about ourselves that we often don’t realise that the very thing we strive for is way out of reach because we don’t see the damage in our own cause we strive for, in other words we are sometimes so restrictive to our own perspective we don’t see the other.

Some people who claim the beauty standard to be the issue are also the same people that tear naturally beautiful women to think less of their body as if it’s not any less destructive than the beauty standards they preach about.

Fixing one’s body to be more plus sized or realistic doesn’t count as body positivity and never was body positivity when you change the original body to fit your narrative of what you find to be realistic or “representative”.

Therefore the keyword “Intention” really helps to clear out the difference between people who really devote themselves to the message and people who only use it as a shield for their own personal gain.

It’s funny to me aswell when people say a character with a big bust and an over exaggerated figure are somewhat contributing to beauty standards or the oversensuality of women in media when it actually isn’t and it’s actually offending in a way that to desexual a woman these days in media is to make their bust less prominent or even their hips and that is actually inverting a message of how girls with these types of features aren’t sensual (I’ve seen the Lola Bunny Fiasco unfold regarding this).

When I was a kid I loved miss Bellum, she was my absolute favourite, but never once have I thought to myself I wish I had her body or that I liked her just because of her body, in fact I admired her because she was brave, kind, independent and wise because most kids during this age don’t think about their body unless it’s brought up to them and kids often follow what their parents thought them and because I admired this character I was inspired to be like her not BE her but be a person like her.

A grown woman simply being open with her sensuality like Rouge or Miss Bellum doesn’t mean that a character like that focuses purely on being sensual because oh she looks great but actually teaches girls to embrace their own sensuality and I don’t think a girl shouldn’t feel gorgeous or fabulous because someone tells her shes not, besides the issue here you addressing isn’t people wearing revealing clothes it’s the act of being suggestive that becomes a problem than the body.

Suggestive is the action not the outfit or body most of the times.

Every time I stir up the question of who do you think is the most cunning Shrek Villain I always get an answer of the Fairy God Mother which to be fair, The Fairy God Mother is a very clever business woman that in the Shrek universe almost appears as a mob boss in a way with her tactics of inducing fear which maintains her reputation as a popular choice of business aside from Rumple that practically feels like an opposite to that.

Rumple is a very smart cunning little man that we are introduced from the beginning to be a possible threat to Shrek but not enough yet to be a plausible one. Eventually Rumple had found his opportunity and instead of giving into his bias about ogres like the Fairygod mother did he did something different, instead he did something much smarter, he played a role of a friend for Shrek until he was in a secure enough position to achieve his goal and betray him.

Rumple most of all didn’t have to do much to manipulate Shrek into giving his Birth day which shows to us the amount of competence Rumple has and this competence of being able to willingly get Shrek to give up his day of birth is exactly why he is the best Shrek Villain hands down.

Rumple had done something other villains only tried to do, every one of them tried to gain control through the means of the crown but never could because of Shrek, but when Rumple removed Shrek from existence he secured his own victory over taking over the throne of Far Far Away so much so that strangely enough the Fairy God Mother couldn’t do anything to stop Rumple. Showing just how much influence Rumple had after garnishing years onto his rulership.

I most admit however that his powers unlike the Fairy God Mother came from dependence on one signing said contract that some people may point out but despite this, let’s not forget that Rumple knew the threat and didn’t dare to even think to himself to throw away any chance at Shrek winning,

Fairy god mother in comparison had no clue about Shrek nor did she care to know about what he did to Farquad because she couldn’t care less and only saw an ogre standing in her way to reaching her goals, which if she hadn’t been so overconfident and biased about winning and depending on the fear she instilled in Harold and the love potion to work she might have succeeded.

The reason Charming isn’t on this is because he’s as minuscule of a threat as Lord Farquad, although containing lots of influence over other people the both of them haven’t managed to get crowned.

As for the question of Rumple being cooped up in his castle unlike the Fairy God Mother, Rumple would no doubt find a way to become even more of a threat magically, he just simply didn’t find a reason to do so before because he’s been in rulership for years that Shrek hadn’t been a problem to him until Shrek found out Rumple tricked him.
