ciarán had made himself at home on one of club nyx’s couches, his feet resting on the table and his arms folded behind his head. the belt of his costume had come undone, revealing the boxers and white t-shirt underneath, but he was simply too relaxed or perhaps too drunk to care. “please tell me you’ve brought me a drink,” he smiled, not bothering to open his eyes to see who’d chosen to join him. “i’m absolutely parched.” 

The opening of the large doors causes a brief flash of light at the gallery’s entrance that catches Sela’s attention, which in turn has her politely excusing herself from a pair of long time clients that had come to show their support. With a smile, she makes her way to the newcomer; the hem of her long, white gown swaying gently with each step. “Hello there! Allow me to welcome you to The Gorgon’s Lair!” Her gloved arms spread wide with an artful flourish, each pointing to their own elaborate archway– the two true entrances to the gallery itself– as she comes to a stop a safe distance away. “Can I offer you a glass of water or champagne while you wander?” 

    It takes them some time to reach him, but as they come ‘round the bend Royal lifts one great paw and waves to them in silent greeting.

“What’s a fun thing to do around here?” 

margot opens the dvd case, and a broken disc falls out to land on the floor with an audible thud. panic rises in her as she gathers the pieces off the floor, swiftly getting back up and hoping that no one saw, but—"i swear, i didn’t break it,“ she says quickly, "it was already like this when i opened it. i just wanted to make sure i was renting batman & robin.”

“it’s just so weird being back,” noah admitted with a sigh as he leaned forward to rest his arms on the railing in front of him. “like it just doesn’t feel the same,” he continued speaking, though his voice had dropped to more of a whisper at this point. it was clear he was struggling with something not just his inability to form words. 

“a  whole  festival  just  for  the  omegas?  what  exactly  is  so  special  about  them  again?”

“Got something on your mind?” She smiled brightly, placing their drink in front of them. “Go on, talk and I’ll listen.”

          Holland  liked  working  at  the  roller  rink  as  long  as  there  weren’t  a  ton  of  people  there  for  a  party.   People  were  loud  today  and  she  just  needed  a  quiet  place  to  think.   Surely  these  people  had  something  better  to  do  than  be  at  a  roller  rink  party  on  a  random  week  day  afternoon.   Didn’t  these  kids  have  school?   She  wishes  she  had  said  she  was  sick  today.   It  wouldn’t  be  that  big  of  a  lie.   But  thankfully,   her  break  came  quicker  than  she  expected  and  Holland  scooted  outside.   She  can’t  see  anyone  else  out  here,   so  she  presses  herself  against  the  wall,   putting  headphones  in  and  attempting  to  block  out  her  thoughts.   Maybe  everything  would  make  sense  soon.    Her  parents,   Essex  House,   being  a  mutant.   Maybe  soon  it  would  make  sense.   The  tape  stopped.   “Shit,”    she  exclaims,   looking  down  at  the  ribbon  coming  undone. 

     “it’s just all so terrible.” the woman’s cloud, that had become a natural occurrence since the start of july, lingered. “to think that people actually did that?” the essex house was one thing and it was a complex matter when the brotherhood, the people who had attacked people in the institutes walls and outside of, had been the ones to destroy it. “do you ever think if people who have done bad things and then do good things, does it neutralise the bad or create a new category?” hina was thinking hard about this one, musing out loud as she encouraged a discussion.

“hey.”

“i wouldn’t touch those peanuts if i were you,” says emilio, face wrinkling, “they look like they’ve been spat on… over and under. don’t order anything that comes in a pint, either. i’ve seen how they wash their glasses.”

“Don’t forget to take a pamphlet on safe sex.” Cordelia felt a little awkward saying that, but she had to get rid of them somehow. She could’ve just dumped them in a trash can and set it alight, but that felt a bit extreme. Nobody at the school wanted to take one, and she couldn’t blame them. Nobody wanted their guidance counsellor to know they’re trying to do the horizontal tango with someone. So, here she was, sitting at a table in a coffee shop, the pamphlets spread out in front of her. “They come with a free Tootsie Roll.”

“Need a drink? I’ll pay for it.” He was already for his friends drinks, might as well throw another on the tab. “Whatcha getting?”
