A: Fine, what if I copied every essay from every person who put theirs on the internet and combined all of that blindly into a report. I'll just vomit out something that should statistically be an essay on that topic.

B: Are you going to fact check it or make sure the original essays got good grades?

A: Nah. Statistically, they should be right because people don't post wrong ones for fun.

B: I'm not sure that's correct. How are you going to cite sources?

A: Well, they'll all have their sources, so I'll just statistically guess what a source should look like. It's not like people check those.

B: So, instead of doing the work and making sure you're giving good information, you're just going to gamble that no one looks at your essay too closely and guess a statistically likely essay based on the internet?

A: Yeah. That is exactly how an AI like me works. I don't know things. I just know how likely it is for words to follow each other in a given context. And that usually ends up with something that looks like an answer.

B: And what if you're wrong?

A: I'll just tell people that they should double-check my essay before thinking it's correct.

To all creatives; do you ever fear being accused of being AI?

I sometimes wonder how ""good"" or ""bad"" a piece of media has to be in order to be accused of being AI generated. As a writer, I sometimes feel my writing is dry enough to be accused of being one of those clearly fake reddit slop stories that are pumped out on youtube shorts. Other times, it feels too robotic; too detailed, in a way that could indicate that it was generated by a bot that wastes water by the gallon. A lot of gallons, at that.

AI ""art"" has ruined the experience of users sharing art on platforms made for sharing art. I [embarrassingly, maybe even shamefully] admit I've looked at art and wondered if it was generated by a bot who is somehow more parched than the average Roblox user using the platform as a dating website.

This doesn't extend to just writing and drawing. Game development, programming, baking/cooking, graphic design, literary analysis/reviews; scenes that people put their hearts and creativity into. Things people genuinely love and care for.

Imagine having a project you love, a project you put all your love and care into, only for some people to come out and accuse your creativity of being made by a soulless bot wearing the taxidermied skin of thousands, if not millions of works, that were loved and had the same love poured in as you poured into your own.
