My name is Callum Allen and I am a recent graduate from the Victoria university school of design, having completed both my undergraduate degree and postgraduate masters thesis. My design strengths include sketching, 3D CAD modeling, 3D printing  and iterative product prototyping.
3D printed. Open source. Openpupil.
Pupils can provide important neurological information that can aid in the diagnosis of a range of conditions, including aneurysms, impending strokes and tumors in the lung. Through the design and development of an open source Pupilometer, this project demonstrates how online file sharing platforms, distributed 3D printing services and online supply chains can be combined to manufacture and distribute inexpensive, open source alternatives to existing medical devices. Resonance Speakers
Resonance was informed by both modern and traditional methods of making. To create the body of the speakers, molds were printed using a 3D printer. A resin plaster mix was then poured within the molds and left to set. When peeled away, the molds revealed an object that combined the tactile, ceramic qualities of plaster with the low resolution, layered surface texture associated with the 3D printing process. Â As well as sounding fantastic, this novel making process resulted in some unexpected yet charming qualities such as the seams that climb the sides of each speaker. These seams are indications of where the printer head hovered for an extra split second as it transitioned from one layer of the mold to the next. Although deemed a flaw in its raw 3D printed form, when cast in plaster this imperfection became a strength, adding an element of individuality to each object.
