One thing I absolutely hate about this four-year-long silence is how badly the whole ACOTAR narrative has been twisted on social media.
People started making up the most ridiculous theories ā not because they believed them, but because they wanted likes, follows, and rage bait engagement.
Stuff like āRhys is the real villain,ā or āMor is a traitor.ā
Suddenly it became cool to be anti-Rhys, anti-Inner Circle, anti-everything.
Villains were getting glorified like misunderstood heroes ā Tamlin and Eris, really?
And the canon ships? The actual relationships in the books? People were throwing hate at them left and right while hyping up random crackships with zero basis.
They created an all-out ship war ā and the level of toxicity itās reached? Itās insane.
And listen, I grew up in the Harry Potter fandom, the Marauders fandom. I was around for the peak of One Direction chaos. I know fandom drama, ship wars.
Dramione Vs Drarry. Jily Vs Jegulus. Larry.
But this? The ACOTAR fandom? This is a whole new level of toxic.
Yes, we can blame SJM and Bloomsbury for the mess ā for the way they handled the silence and left everything hanging.
But we also need to take some responsibility as a fandom.
Letās stop giving views and comments to posts that are clearly made just to piss people off.
Mute topics you donāt care about. Block tags, block ships, block creators if you need to.
Stop turning on each other.
If you hate every character except for one or two, maybe this series just isnāt for you.
If you think āeveryoneās a villain,ā maybe itās not that deep ā maybe youāre just forcing a take to be edgy.
At this point, I donāt even know if peaceful fandom coexistence is possibleā¦
But can we at least not make it worse?
