Even if I'm not thrilled to compare a character I adore to a character I don't, I think sua and luka are extremely similar characters and that's what makes round 5 and mizi's reaction to it so significant. Ruler of my heart isn't just a song performed by luka, written for hyuna, sang to mizi in imitation of sua - it is simultaneously a love letter from sua to mizi. (And let's not forget sua and luka being adored as royalty and yet simultaneously raised as expendable, interchangeable dolls and thus projecting this behaviour onto mizi and hyuna by clinging onto them and being willing to destroy the both of them in the process if it means keeping this illusion of their relationship as a safe haven, where they get to play owner and their partners are almost like dolls they can have to find sanctity)

The problem with people who eat up swirl is that alot of them are really really convinced their ships are automatically activist just because there's a black person in there meanwhile they barely discuss that black character outside of their pasty love interest + refuse to listen to black people who point out that the way the ship is written comes at the expense of the black character's individuality. So in a sense, that character becomes less of a character in the fandom's eyes and more like a "gotcha!" To use in ship wars when trying to prove their ship is inherently woke and any criticisms are racist, and its usually done by non-black people. Your ship being interracial does not automatically make the writing or the fanbase racially conscious or activist in any way, and it doesn't make you not-racist just bc you ship it

If the yellowjackets got stuck on the island in lord of the flies (let's say for the same amount of time) I don't think they would've turned into a cult because a major contributor to that was the hunger which they don't really have to deal with there so honestly I think the body count would be very low.
