Yes this includes his friendship with Robin (you can’t tell me Robin and Jonathan wouldn’t be besties. Those weirdos would get alone so well. And I think Robin’s chatty/chaotic energy would balance Jonathan’s quieter yet still equally anxious/awkward energy really well)

Yes this includes his friendship with Dustin. With Jonathan’s experience being an older brother/parent to Will, he’d be a great mentor for Dustin. They could even bond over absent fathers (ok tbf this point could apply to Steve to but as it is they never actually explored that route in canon). I also think with the Dustin and Jonathan pairing Dustin would be less likely to be separated from the party like he is in canon. Bonding with Will’s brother would only bring Dustin closer to Will. And maybe the show would actually have to acknowledge these boys’ friendships (bc let’s be honest, besides Mike and Will, after season two, the core four don’t really interact much and that is a CRIME)

Also, if they did the scoops troop storyline with Jonathan then that would prolong him getting together with Nancy. Fakeout relationship by introducing Robin. Then Robin comes out as gay and they remain friends. Season four Jonathan is in Cali and Robin and Nancy have a somewhat tense relationship but then they begrudgingly become friends. Season five the climatic moment when Jonathan and Nancy finally get together. No love triangles. No weird rivalries. No engagements turned breakups. Just a slow burn Jancy.

Also think about how being friends with Robin would help Jonathan learn more about queer people and how relieving it would be for him to realize that Will isn’t alone. After Will comes out to Robin the two of them sometimes hang out and Jonathan just stands behind them, arms crossed, smiling proudly at them.

Also also! The flitting between minimum wage jobs makes way more sense for Jonathan (someone who is already shown in the show to come from a poor family who needs to have a job to help provide a second income for his household).

Basically, Jonathan gets to have relationships with more than just Will and Nancy.

realizing the more times he tells it that mike was actually gay. he did like him back and he’s still stuck. but will has moved on. he’s happy. it’s like he can fly. it would hurt too much to try again. it would be unfair to himself and to the life he’s built. mike is way too far in the closet for it to work, anyways.

so will tells himself he has to live his own life out and happy and free even more so now that he knows mike can’t. that he won’t. that’s what will does. for both of them. and he really truly is happy.

but every time will visits hawkins, mike’s smile reaches his eyes less. less and less, except for when will tells him — haltingly, at first — about his new life. bars, parades, protests, drag queens. unhesitant acceptance. and a million other things.

a lot of people online alongside me have been suspecting that the documentary may be a bigger deal than netflix is leading on, and that what is released will mirror what wes craven did with new nightmare, with freddy kreuger infiltrating the "real world" and targeting the actors and those involved in the franchise becoming targets. freddy's goal is to reach the audience. is this what they're planning with the documentary?

in an interview, millie was asked to choose one word to describe the series finale and she said "meta". the finale we got isn't something i would describe as meta though, but most definitely would support this theory.

i know that it was originally suspected that there would be an entirely new episode released on january 7th, on orthodox christmas. the duffer brothers had alluded to a dark christmas, but what if by dark christmas they meant literally leaving us in the dark? leaving us hanging. dropping clues and hints and playing it all up only to go radio silent.

here's what i think is going to happen - the documentary will begin as a normal documentary. some behind the scenes footage, the making of, all that shit. but then something will shift, vecna will break through - into the real world. he will target the cast and crew, then he will get you too. meta.

the only way to save the world will be to go back as the characters, to remove the illusion that vecna has them tricked by. how will they do this? why, i'll tell you - there were runtimes released for volumes 2 and 3 that were not accurate to the actual show. but what if, once the veil is dropped, all of that cut footage will be edited into the show?

at the end of the finale, derek was playing a game calles ghosts n' goblins, a game notoriously known for having a false ending in which the player beats the game only for it to be revealed that everything was an illusion and that you have to restart from the beginning now at a higher difficulty level.

but i’ve posted here before about how in will’s coming out scene, he mentions “watching The Grail” I believe this is in reference to the 1975 movie lMonty Python and The Holy Grail. The reason I believe this is because of the main characters names.

I could never work out how the show connected to this, the story didn’t align until i saw this tweet mentioning the trojan horse as I also found it on the wiki for this movie!!
