like, blizzard should’ve focused on building more high profile tournaments that were all shorter than owl with an a big prize money invitational at the end of the “ow esports season”. i think that wouldve kept audiences interested and the concept of having different tournaments to view is nice. it would also keep tier 2+ scenes alive cuz theyre adamant about this pathtopro thing which is really just killing all fresh players they have.

even if they decided to keep owl, they should shorten it to maybe two stages and the stages should only be like 2 weeks max lol whoever thought of 4 weeks was on crack. the repetitive games and boring production & branding is just killing viewership. & for what? cuz this is killing ow esports. theyre actively squashing all other tournaments with these long ass stages and schedules. you cant stream tourneys at the same time as owl and owl has already taken the prime viewership hours so like what are you to do? how are new pros supposed to build a following like that? ugh

a way shorter owl season wouldve probably helped teams like dallas and shanghai. instead of having to tough out their numerous problems for literal months, arguably wasting time and hard work when they actually cant help the situation theyre in because of either shitty management or coaching, they couldve had to deal with it for maybe a month or two at most. then they couldve taken the break to fix all of their issues.

shanghai couldve fixed their management / coaching issue, they couldve gotten computers in their team house, and generally couldve settled in / practiced with each other more before being thrown to the wolves. the system owl brought to the table was unfair and frankly unhealthy for them.

dallas fuel, namely the effect situation is just another example. effect literally fell into deep depression with suicidal thoughts because of owl!! like if owl wasnt this long im 99% sure effect wouldnt have gotten as bad as he did, even if he was already predisposed to depression. he couldve had to sit through a month of owl then taken a while to heal / go to therapy / spend time with family.
