Jayden’s hand wrapped tightly around the grip of his gun, but his index finger still hovered outside the trigger guard as Imrie spoke. “Well you aren’t exactly giving me any reasons why I shouldn’t,” he pointed out through gritted teeth. As she took a few steps towards him, he moved his finger above the trigger. “

“I’ve been nothing but honest with you from the start,” Jayden reminded her. She knew what he did for a living, and yet she chose to stay. “So was this all part of some plan?” he asked. He knew he had no right to be angry, had the roles been reversed he probably would have done the same - played the part to get close to her. The difference was, even now while he had a gun aimed in Imrie’s direction - he knew that he couldn’t kill her. What she had done to him, it was a death sentence the moment his family found out, and she had to know that.

“ deceptively large oceanic hues stare him down with elegant brows narrowed with discernment. “ plan ? “ the thought infuriated her. as one of her kind that felt so deeply that the wave of emotions carried her under despite the screaming logic. she knew he was a hunter. and her sister entertained the idea of seeking out revenge ,but imrie wouldn’t want any part in the looming war. but the painful reality is that no matter your good intentions , you can’t always have a happy ending when you are enemies by nature. “ 

“ none of it was planned , i just . . .i was honest with you about everything except for what i was . . . if you knew you’d only see me for how your family sees me ...a monster. i .. “ she allowed herself to sigh as the emotion welled up and she tried to keep herself composed. “ I was trying to protect you , but i lost control and i don’t understand why . . . i’ve never blacked out like that before.  “ when the other wolf came out of no where , imrie only reacted and shifted in mid-daylight. but as soon as she chased the instigator off -- she didn’t come back unscathed. the wound she had earlier was intoxicated. so she had her theories. but it was like a blackout. similar to a newly sired wolf.  

The weather changed almost as often as Jasper’s mood in England, and when he could take the opportunity to get outside the castle walls - he did. Especially these days. He walked towards the garden, away from those who had decided to partake in conversations and play games with one another just outside the castle doors. He had just turned off the path and onto the grass when a familiar voice caused his head to turn swiftly in the direction from which it came. Eyes widened as Jasper took in the sight of Floriana. The corners of his lips started to turn up into a smile, but as quickly as it came - it faded. Instead a look of concern washed over his face.

Jasper stepped towards the other. “What-…what are you doing here?” he asked. The two had lost contact with one another a while back, and while he was happy to see Floriana, he couldn’t help but he worried for her safety. Especially on English grounds.

Jayden’s hand rested on top of the knife tucked away in the harness across his chest as he stood at the edge of the forest. The outfit he wore once defined who he was, but now it felt like a costume. A disguise to hide the monster within, the wolf in sheep’s clothing. Even so, he was there on a mission - one he had convinced his brother he could do.

As a figure appeared from the shadows, his hand gripped the weapon, preparing himself for whatever was to come next. He wanted Imrie to make this easy for him, for her to lunge at him or do something that would instigate a fight. Instead she spoke a single word, his name. For a moment he allowed his mind to drift off, to think back on their past together and the way things had been before he had been bitten. Jayden shook his head, trying to free his mind of anything that might stop him from what he was about to do.

“Don’t…” was all he managed to mumble out in response.

bright blue eyes were considered the mask of a monster. alluring the gullible with features rendered angelic or pleasing to the minds eye. it’s why the suspected were sentenced to death in the cruelest fashion. to the christian religion they were crafted by the hands of lucifer himself.  innocent lives died at the hands of hunters , of pointless slander all to see that they no longer exist,  but with imrie, her intentions weren’t to deceive , but to transfer maybe that monsters and humans were never meant to coexist.

a dream that could only exist among thorns.

“ why don’t you pull the trigger ? you resent me , don’t you ? i’m the monster who deceived you ... the one who ruined your life. why else would you be bordering our territory ? “ oceanic hues never leave him as she did a couple steps forward but refrained from going any further. they were finally face to face since the tragedy struck , regret played her life like a fiddle , was she truly damned ? 

𝑨𝑻 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑮𝑰𝑽𝑬𝑵 moment, imrie was all she knew. the sole piece of family she had left, and while they were not related, she considered her –– her sister. and losing that last fragment would perhaps be a catalyst to the emotions she had bottled up through the past few months. she did not like to show that side of her, the vulnerable one. she had tried her hardest to keep those memories buried deep within her mind, in a corner where she could never reach. but memories like that were difficult to forget. “ yes, it would be horrible. ” her tone softened, as eyes settled on the ground beneath her feet. she didn’t expect her to understand, even less in a moment like this. “ forget it. ” she couldn’t fight with stubborn. quincy took several steps away from imrie, turning her back to her and sat quite a distance away from her. “ just let me know when you’re okay to walk again. ”

BLOOD FELT MEANINGLESS in comparison to the bond she shared with the woman in her presence. the glacial walls surrounding the beating organ in her chest would melt around a very few. for as long as she could rememebr , quincy was the only one who wouldn’t alienate her. a dreamer with a bigger vision beyond herself. such endeavors were fruitless for her kind. her desires never made any sense or came upon SCATHING demeanors that matched DISAPPROVING eyes. but while her flaring temperament would shine at its brightest , quincy never judged her. and at her lowest she’d never whisper an unkind word. imrie was always ruthless in her opinions , defiant against the norm . wanting to claim tolerance where it’d be a dangerous venture. when she felt the slightest bit better , it only took a few moments that felt like hours in the silence between them. “ i think it’s okay now , “ the searing sensation withered away as the magic wore off. the injury neutralized her ability to heal on her own and the witch’s words were proven to be true. the potion worked.  “ i don’t want to go back. not yet. “ 

𝑻𝑰𝑴𝑬𝑺 𝑳𝑰𝑲𝑬 these made her exceptionally nervous. she could not fathom anything horrible happening to her friend, grave or not ––– she could simply not relive her past torments. the mere thought of losing yet another face she had come to know, brought forth an endless wave of anxiety. a heavy weight was lifted the moment lips touched the flask once again, she could not understand how nonchalantly imrie could seem about this, as if it wasn’t dangerous enough. “ you could have bled out. ” quincy started, worry quite clear on her features. she was mad, but at the same time concerned ––– and when quincy became concerned, it was bound to become a big deal and imrie would never hear the end of it; not for the next few weeks. “ five minutes, but really –– i can’t believe you’d rather die than drink a stupid concoction. what is wrong with you ? ”

SELF-DESTRUCTION NEVER WORE ITSELF SO OPENLY upon her existence until this very moment. she could very well drive her own bloodline to the fangs of FENRIR.  the incredulous eyes at her actions didn’t go unnoticed. once sensible and level -headed , imrie truly appearson the surface that she has lost her mind. and maybe she has. a walking stigma with the type of luck that brings ruin.  ❝ would that be so horrible ?❞ imrie muttered ruefully but then realized that she had spoken the words out loud. and to quincy nonetheless. blue skies shaded with regret , “ i- i’m sorry I didn’t mean ...” of course she didn’t want to throw the burden of those thoughts to quincy. she’s more of a sister than her own . imrie was always different from the remainder of her pack. and even stranger as she fought for quincy’s residence with them and won acceptance. they’ve been through so muchin the time they’ve spent. she knew her secrets , and the troubling one of where her heart went out to a hunter. 

the tears were no longer the glacial skies that hardened beneath the night. his scent surrounded her and her feet only continued forth. perhaps a wish of misfortune on her subconscious . her existence was a magnet for it , perhaps her existence could really be considered unlucky in regard to her heart going out to an enemy by nature. only to be the reason for his waking nightmare.  selfishly she searched for him , or rather kept her eye out and didn’t retreat the instant she recognized his trail. she could practically hear quincy’s words against her ear. surely her sister realized that imrie hasn’t been the same, because she can recognize the nervousness for her wellbeing.

biting the rosy flesh of her lower lip as she stepped from the shadows.  “ jayden .. . “ she tested her voice as she no longer concealed herself from him. he was dangerously close to the borderline between territories. 

𝑯𝑬𝑺𝑰𝑻𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵 𝑬𝑴𝑨𝑵𝑨𝑻𝑬𝑫 out of imrie. she had not witnessed the other in such state before, but it was clear that denying the concoction would sprout no good. helplessness overwhelmed her small frame, for she knew there was not much she could do, but coerce her to take the right path. although, she was unsure whether her words would make any impact at all. “ but you have to. ” quincy doubted there was any other option. hands swiftly gathered the item, examining it as she inched closer to her friend. it did seem rather disgusting, but she would not utter a word. the last thing she needed, was to discourage imrie. “ here. “ she held the item before her, eyes pleading for her to go through the challenging task.
