After completing our daily beach walk, Leo and I head for a bench. I look at the ocean while Leo is concerned about any four legged friend approaching from behind. Priorities.

This plant grows by the ocean—don’t know what it is called—but it is important to me (I have one in my yard) since it is my first posted photo after I suffered a heart attack last month. Glad to be here.

I celebrated my 80th last week with family, including the newest addition, a granddaughter, age 5 months. We need new beginnings on many fronts if this world is to survive. l

Where’s Leo? When it’s hot, Leo burrows in the ferns by our front gate to stay cool. Since he doesn’t bark, he excels at hiding and sometimes scaring anyone not expecting a large dog to be so close.

A great morning sky on garbage day.

Each morning a woman rakes the sand, leaving designs for others to enjoy, or, perhaps, not see or appreciate before the tides erase them. They calm me in our world of turmoil.

A neighbor still has one tomato on the vine, despite the third month of winter.

Today should bring the first rain in over a month. We need it, although last time we got too much.

The curve of Carmel-By-The-Sea Beach was interrupted this morning by a driftwood shack. My dog Leo froze when he saw this structure in an area he usually marks, But not today. He pulled to leave and so we did.
