Thoughts/headcanons on Klaus and languages
Hargreeves insisted Klaus learn foreign languages as part of his training so that he could talk to more dead people.
Klaus didn’t mind, he got to stay inside while the others were doing physical combat training.
He speaks several languages pretty good now and has a knack for picking up others.
It amazes Dave and the rest of the guys in Vietnam, how Klaus picks up Vietnamese so easily. It’s one of the things that make him a valued member of the group and allow them to overlook his many oddities.
Allison had to learn languages too, because Hargreeves wanted to explore if she could use her power in different languages. Klaus and Allison were never the closest of the siblings, but they do enjoy a brief period of being able to snark on the others in French without them understanding.
Hargreeves loses interest in Allison learning languages though so that stops when they get older. Klaus still uses words in foreign languages as part of his speech though to separate himself from his siblings and because he likes having something he can do that they can’t - that is, something he likes being able to do.
