To be fair, the slightly beat-up leatherbound sketchbook did look valuable at first glance. Only the first page was legible to the average reader - âif found, please return to âââââ ââââââââDoveâ and a phone number. The small woman turned towards the child, a friendly smile lighting up her face in return. It was good to see a smiling face, though an actual child gave her pause.
âhiya!â She tilted her head, reaching back to pat at her bag. Sure enough, it was gone. The weed mustâve been investigating it and dropped it⌠âthanks for findinâ it, hon. it sure is, I made it up myself!â
  "Why'd you do that for? It sounds like it must have been very time-consuming. Did it take a lot of time? Did the pictures take a lot of time? You can draw better than me."
  That's a lot of questions fired spontaneously at once: the kid's really bubbling with energy. Instead of handing the book over though, they keep it tucked snugly under one arm and continue to bob up and down like a spring.

[ gOYS. Exam season, for me, is almost over. And Iâve told myself that that is when a new actual real event! With Pictures! Thatâs long! Is going to start.

Itâs rare, but for once Piperâs voice is genuinely sing-song and cheery. New Universe, new people, except for once⌠the girl before them looked very familiar. A different sort of familiar than they were with their usual acquaintances.Â
It takes them a few moments to finally remember that the smol before them is Ivy, one of their friends from camp.
âItâs Ivy, right? Do you remember Piper- from camp?â
Ivy nodded in excitement, a big grin filled up her face. âOf course I remember you!â Ivy giggled, putting a hand in front of her mouth. âHow have you been?â
âI have been how I have always been.â A cryptic answer maybe, but it just means their life hasnât been bad, hasnât been good. âI kind of travel a lot. Seen a lot of cool places. How much time has passed since last camp? Probably half a year, right?â
âYes. Iâve had lots of... exciting adventures. How about you?â
[[ Alsooo. Just a head's up, but I think that the slice of life event thing is over. I just called it an event because it was the easiest way to say "this is a temporary thing that is happening"? I'm sorry it was so short ;; but it is not plot orientated or anything. It was exactly as the name suggest: a random little insight into Piper's life. ]]

// also random headcanon. Or, not headcanon I guess. But I've just realised that Piper may have PTSD? Although I know about their symptons and stuff as their... creator, I never though to give it a name. I'm going to have to look into it a bit more, can't believe I didn't think of it till now ;;>o> Stuff I think is not natural for them includes:
- avoidance of people touching them and them showing their soul - flashbacks - grossed out by the sight of other people's souls
- yeah you can probably tell the traumatic event which shaped part of how they are today has something to do with their damn soul lol.

  âUmm⌠thatâs going to take some thinking.â
  They roll forwards on their toes and look off to the side in feigned embarrassment, hands wedged in brimming pockets. Piper rarely had a shred of self-doubt when it came to their own personality.Â
Sure, there were ways to improve- they were always getting better at things; it was one of their few consistent life goals in the erratic life they lead. But at the same time, the kid was always quite happy with themselves- how they looked, how they presented themselves, how they felt about things. Accidents were always small accidents, and those were always just silly things or out of their control or worth it.
  "I donât really hate anything about myself. Hate my past self, hate my situation, but not something about my personality in particular.â
  âI guess⌠something that annoys me is how prone I am to reflection. And deep thought on stuff thatâs happened to me in the past. I donât like people touching me, because sometimes even that can send me back and make me feel crap. Iâve been working through it.â
