hi babsie imgonna add onto ur post. anwyay ive seen people complaing about the thing about susie trying out wearing ribbons but i think.if anything this makes susie being butch More Explicit for me. shes openly been shoved into a very specific subset and trope all her life, of the big scary bully, where shes pushed to be more aggressive and closed off, and i think as such she hasnt really Had the chance to truly explore her gender expression. we know that she was more feminine growing up, and then at one point became a lot more masc, and i think. considering what susies life has been. she probably never had a true chance to go back to the idea of enjoying feminine clothes. like i think what with susie being consistently shoved into very harsh boxes, she probably had to FIGHT to be allowed to be masculine, and as such couldnt ever really visit any idea of liking much of anything remotely feminine, as giving people an inch Will turn to them taking a mile. i think her, in chapter 5, being more willing to try slightly more feminine things IS a sign of her healing-not because being feminine=healing, but because she is being given the room to Be uncertain about herself, to learn and grow and not have to worry about people immediately assigning things to her that make her uncomfortable, or taking advantage of the fact shes being vulnerable. she feels comfortable Trying to wear a ribbon bc she knows in no world are ralsei and kris going to weaponize this to try and Make her more feminine if she doesnt want to be, nor will they mock her for not being 100000% certain about who she is and who she wants to be all the time.
