I am left alone with only the voices that surround me.

Voices, I must surrender to them.

Succumb to the darkness

That I have been enveloped in

All these years now.

Since you left me wounded and abandoned,

Left to pick up the pieces of the soul you broke.

I once thought I found the better version of you.

How quickly I learned, I found worse than you.

Left broken once more.

When does the vicious cycle end?

When you waltzed into my dream last night

And made me feel your love,

Every ounce of progress I thought I was making disappeared,

Along with you.

You left as quickly as you came,

Rendering the small amount of peace I get from sleeping.

When I awoke, I felt as though something was squeezing my heart from the inside out.

You stayed with me all day,

In every thought,

In every movie,

In each sip of my coffee.

The memory of you still lingers along the hallways of my mind.

And some days it follows me closely,

Holding the back of my shirt like a lost little kid.

I keep dreadfully hoping that someday you will find a new home.

My heart was your toy.

My mind was your nightmare.

My pain was your joy.

You played with my organs,

And used my body to venture.

You got lost in me

And lost love with each gesture.

With each touch, you stole more of my soul

So now, I sit here feeling small and diminished.

Worn, used, and on the brink of breakage

Waiting for you to fulfill the promises you left unfinished.

All that lingers now is the love you left alone,

And the ghost of you that follows me

Throughout this abandoned home.

But I've taken the hurt

And I've taken the pieces

And rearranged them into art.

Your demons no longer hide my beauty,

I'm flourishing through the flames of our once was.

You don't consume my thoughts anymore.

In fact, you fuel my passion in a brand new way.

A way where you're not even here

And I don't have to hide

From you or anyone else for you.

This is the sad start to my happiness.

Not always one with ourselves,

And not always one with each other.

For we stray away to other pages...Of other books.
