She steps past the doormat and sees one of the coats he was gifted to better weather his first Zephran winter on the ground. She picks it up.

“Sorry, Kiki, it must’ve slipped off the hook again,”

He’s behind her, wrapping his arms around her torso in exactly how he does after he comes home from a long day of training with the Tempest Blades. She can feel his breath skimming across the back of her neck, in the precise spot he knows she’s ticklish. She squirms to get away from him, the obvious next move in their familiar dance. Except there’s no resistance.
