Art when done well, resonates with the people.
It doesn’t take big production crews or massive multi-billion funding. It doesn’t distort or diminish the severity of the matter, appropriate or disrespects cultures, nor end up defending persecution for the sake of money. True outreach leaves no suffering unseen. It does not sacrifice integrity, to depict the raw truth.
Look at the comments section. Look at how a story of liberation, colonisation, class, hiding who one is, assimilation—all of these we BIPOC & especially BIPOC immigrants, can understand altogether. Seeing each other eye-to-eye, because we know this is an intergenerational pain that an artist cannot fabricate unless they themselves have been through it like us.
Because our very lives are the evidence, bearing witness this happening across space and time. Between the margins of race, religion and class. Evidence they’d want to erase. Evidence that we have embedded in our art, our creations, our impact, and remember with our livelihoods and honouring of our ancestry. So deeply and persistently that they cannot wash us out. They can’t possibly get rid of it all.
Those who have experienced colonisation, who descend from ancestors who were colonised. Those who have been taken from our lands, or have had to flee. This tells a story to us of we have spoken from our own mouths, witnessed with our own eyes, spilled of our own blood, and bear the intergenerational open wounds of.
We see. We feel. This is what valuable representation means to BIPOC & immigrants.
Posting on January 20, 2026.
I have heard from multiple sources that ICE has been spotted in Indiana (in particular, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis areas). This is no accident. For those of you unfamiliar, there is a large Burmese population in both cities. Additionally, TPS (Temporary Protected Status) ends for Burma/Myanmar on January 26, 2026.
Something bad is coming. We must stand together and protect our neighbors.

Girls und Panzer: Ribbon Warrior has a Burmese Sensha-dou team called Tategoto (Japanese word for Harp).
The team is pretty shit, but they have a lot of Burmese culture behind them. Such as; Thanaka, Lapae Yea, Pagodas, and the fact that they split from the St. Gloriana (British team) faction.
The main commander is named Aung, and the Japanese honorifics play a joke with her name. (Aung-san, Aung San…)
I could cry actual tears of joy, this is one of the few actual Burmese representations in Manga. Alongside Arachnid’s Dinoponera.

National animal of Myanmar 🇲🇲
Remember that meme of the woman doing aerobics in Myanmar while in the background the army coup was starting?
The revolution against the coup is in full swing as for the first time in 60 years of military rule (the last ten years of democracy were mostly a fig leaf with the military having guaranteed seats in parliament and were unhindered in their genocide of the Rohingya) the majority Bamar people, especially young students, have actually allied with the dozens of Ethnic Independence Armies (the Arakan, the Karen, the Karenni, the Kachin, the Pa-o, the Chin, the Mon, the Ta'ang, the Kokang and many smaller groups).
This resulted in a by now 4 year civil war with the Junta steadily losing ground and now having lost control of more than half the country (map by the incredible OSINT mapper Thomas van der Linge who also was really good at tracking ISIS and the conflict in Sudan).
While the independence armies had been in a stalemate because of divide and conquer strategies as well as unsteady ceasefires on Junta terms, the student protesters were inexperienced and unarmed, so at first the army and police as well as terror militias (Pyu Saw Htee) could crack down on dissent, torturing, killing and raping at their leisure. This however lead to many protesters leaving the cities and entering the jungles and mountains to either join the Independence Armies, or form their own armed groups along with deserting officers, soldiers, police and politicians. These were the People's Defense Forces (PDFs), which coalesced around a revolutionary government called the NUG, which in turn allied with most of the ethnic armies. By interrupting convoys, taking out camps and stealing weapons, later even 3D printing their own guns, they slowly managed to arm up and now are more than a match for an army based on racial entitlement, terror and forced conscription.
The Future of Myanmar is uncertain, but it will be without the Junta. If you want to follow this more closely, this substack I follow has a weekly round-up every saturday.
Kachin seize Banmaw airport; terrorist airstrike massacres 18 civilians; Indaw town liberated; 4th anniversary of the Spring Revolution.

Was kinda bored so I doodled the Myanmar flag as a dragon
@an-theduckin
Sad news for the people of Myanmar today as trans-rights activist and resistance member Saw Han Nway Oo passed away. She suffered from multiple health complications from her years in prison and on the frontlines. Saw helped me and a friend in Thailand to travel to Myanmar and meet the resistance. She was a kind soul who was eager to help. Someone who strongly believed in the cause for freedom, despite everything she went through.
some back ground for those unfamiliar with her fight
Authorities in Myanmar’s prisons and interrogation centres routinely subject people detained for resisting the 2021 military coup to torture
Some LGBT activists are on the front lines of Myanmar’s revolution, fighting for democracy as well as societal acceptance, while facing brut
