Also my jobs been having us all take some seminar type meetings rn and oh my fucking god I’ve been subjected to not one but TWO AI SONGS, AND THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED THE PRESENTER WAS STRAIGHT UP BRAGGING ABOUT USING SUNO (which I’m now forced to know the name of and its general existence) AND I QUOTE, “I’m resourceful, not talented” YEA IF BY RESOURCEFUL YOU MEAN POISONING OUR WATER FOR HOWEVER MANY GALLONS IT TOOK TO PROCESS YOUR “SONG” THEN SURE I GUESS, she also made her presentation slides using notebooklm im actually disgusted just fucking pay someone to make your PowerPoint presentation for you at that point.

Guys I went to my local pinball tournament last night and omfg everyone was so nice and supportive and welcoming, who’da thought there’d be a lot of queer and/or nerdy people in the pinball community???

Keep seeing a pattern of people posting old anime dub clips and people responding “oh wow this dub is so good why do modern dubs suck”, maybe if those same dubs hadn’t been constantly lambasted for over a decade we’d still have dubs that were allowed to actually have performances that were allowed to take creative liberties, it’s almost like it’s the direct result of people complaining that dubs weren’t “accurate” to the sub, unironically the two different evangelion dubs are emblematic of what this decade of complaining over nothing has done to the state of dubs, the ADV dub having more “soul” and general emotion to the deliveries and trading off its 1:1 accuracy in favor of dialogue that flows better, compared to the Netflix dub that by no means is bad, the actors are all great for the script that they’re given, but that’s just it they’re given a script that they MUST follow and cannot deviate from aside from rare exceptions. You get a dub that’s more accurate to the original Japanese script and man you can really tell sometimes (tbf I think Khara also wanting more direct overreach with the dub was in part a result of its vocal deliveries not being allowed any leniency, but still I argue the new Eva dub is representative of modern dubs and the hurdles they now have to overcome, I can imagine more anime producers have taken a similar approach). It’s really telling when it seems that a large percentage of the most iconic anime that people talk about, both old and new are also anime that have superb dubs, I think more people (and definitely general viewing audiences) watch anime dubbed and the sub community is just overtly vocal about how you’re getting an “unintended” experience/intent.

Chat just got out of the theaters, immediately planned to go see end of eva again when I heard it got extra showtimes. After the movie ended everyone just sat in complete silence for like 10 seconds till someone finally started moving from their seat this movie is life changing.
