tumblr is a baby ass website so i try to keep my thoughts to myself since anything even remotely approaching intellectualism or good faith engagement is always met with some vaguely leftist-inspired discourse but what i think people forget is that filmmaking is an art. it is an artform, with many layers and components. haven't seen the odyssey. from what it sounds like, the script is. something. but the script isn't the only part of the film. so much of what makes a movie art isnt even just the final product, it's also the process and the intention. this is true of any kind of artwork. so when people make glib, dumb comments and are prepared to throw the whole movie away just because the script is dogshit i'm like. sure man. whatever. like i feel like people have such a shallow understanding of film anyway so i shouldnt be surprised/frustrated but like chriiiiist alright.
