can i just say i dont like what (most) id/ego art and most fanartists do to ryoshu and ishmael's body shapes
ishmael specificly for comparision since her birthday was recently (so that means tons of fanart) and it's more severe with her official art it seems
how she's actually shaped:
not including every single image of her ever but like you get the point right
and then whatever her id/ego art is doing:
sometimes you can tell a fic author wants to wax poetic about their favorite character so they use their lover as a vessel but it ends up becoming an astronomical "they would not say that" situation
i can accept this character is deeply in love with your favorite character but they wouldn't be verbally comparing them to flowers or pretty gems. you can say all that about them without the pretense of it being from the lover's perspective
and if the comparison is meant to be a somewhat angsty/poetic metaphor about the character's woes, the lover could absolutely have that general thought about the character but they would never say it like that. they'd either say it differently or perhaps not at all
