Let Them Be Dads

“C’mon, angel,” Dean calls over his shoulder. “Let’s get moving.”  

“Dean, wait.”  

Dean stops and turns around, sunlight illuminating his freckles and stealing Cas’ breath in one foul swoop.  

“What is it?” he asks.

Cas waves vaguely at their surroundings. “What are we doing here?”

Dean tilts his head in what Cas knows is a loving impression of him as he considers the question. “Let’s just say that we’re celebrating.”

Cas nods but he still doesn’t understand. It’s not either of their birthdays and he has the dates of all other mandatory consumer holidays memorized. “Celebrating what?” he questions.  

Dean steps towards him, shrugging his shoulders as a smile lights up his face. “I don’t know. The sun, the air, flowers, love, your hot piece of ass husband; do we need a reason?”

(Boxers!au Cas strikes again)

And there might not be a sadder thing

Than watchin' Saturn lose their rings

And black holes slowly dancin' in the dark
