Some character art in preparation for ArtFight

I've altered the lore a bit... (FORGIVE ME...) Rosamel is now from Beauty and the Beast, Moe is now from the Little Mermaid, and Pine is now from the Snow Queen. Acorn's fairytale of origin remains the same (Hansel and Gretel).

I can't wait for ArtFight and I can't wait to share more of these guys with you all!

Miscellaneous homework assignments from this past semester...

These are the two parts of my Drawing 2 final I forgot to post here on Tumblr!

Soft pastel self portrait, inserting myself into an environment, was an at home assignment, and the charcoal portrait was in class. (Took lots of trial and error!)

A self portrait homework assignment for my digital arts class. 😋 It was fun, despite some of the technical difficulties I had along the way.. 🐛💕☘️

The winter season Pine is next, and you might notice his first page is a little different than the rest.

Pine was a fun one to draw, and I'm honestly so happy with how everything turned out! I can't wait to introduce you all to even more of this story.

Of the Autumn Season.... it's Acorn!

A lot of what inspired Acorn's personality are characters like Puss in Boots, Jack Sparrow, and even Alexander Hamilton (from the musical Hamilton). It's a random assortment but I think it works.

I think initially, Moe and Rosamel are able to recognize that Acorn is lying about something. A child so young, just wandering the woods without any fairytale origins? They highly doubted it, they knew that's not how this season thing worked.

I think Rosamel would care more about the lies than Moe. Moe thinks it's better to just leave it be, and let Acorn confess whenever she'd like.

I do think the lie about who Acorn is, ends up spiraling and leading into a larger issue of compulsive lying, even when she really doesn't need to. It makes it easier for her to deceive others as time goes on.

Next up, Magnolia "Moe" Greene! Relaxed and carefree, Moe is incredibly easy going and content. While she didn't have the typical happily-ever-after, she much prefers the life she has with her friends, and now-husband Rosamel, than the storybook life she would've had in her tale.

Looking at this old book, however, you wonder who it belongs to. Who has recorded all of these fairytale characters?

I had a ton of fun drawing the details around Moe's frame, the frogs and fish were so much fun and I love their happy little faces.

I had trouble thinking of what to write on these pages though, probably because I worked on this until late last night and was quite sleep deprived! LOL! Hopefully it holds up now that it's the morning.

When characters straight from a storybook break the rules of their fairytale worlds, what happens to them?

They don't disappear, or simply live in a rewritten story. Instead, they are brought into the regular world, acting as guardians of sorts with special new rules. Ever wonder how the Tooth Fairy, or Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny managed to exist beyond the fairytale world they should belong to? Here's your answer!

First up from our main cast, Rosamel! A failed frog prince turned Spring Guardian. (You could say he's the Jack Frost of the spring.)
