It’s nice to just get out. I feel like I’ve been stuck in a rut for ages. 

"You’ve been so busy with work. It feels like forever since we’ve just gone out. So, classic rom com date then? A nice dinner and a movie? Or do you have anything else in mind?”

Go for it, dude. [ she shakes her head ] I just like doing safe things on dates. Even if that’s boring. 

Daisy kissed her cheek. "We can skip the pranks then. Dinner and a movie still sounds nice as long as its with you.”

They’re super funny, I love them. People flip so badly. [ she laughs ] You have such a weird taste in dates, dude. I never thought I’d be the one wanting to do normal things. 

"I have a few people at work who need a little quill frustration.” She giggled, leaning her head on Tilden’s shoulder. “What? We can do the normal things too. A few pranks, then dinner and a movie.”

You think so? Bloody hell, that’d be so amazing. Could I bring Arthur? He would absolutely flip. 

"It’s worth a shot! We’d probably have to do some currency exchange at gringotts but I can find out for us. Absolutely! Though you’ll have to keep a good grip on him. We don’t want him to fall out if he gets over excited.”

Yeah, that’s what any normal person would’ve said, Daisy. [ she nods ] Yeah, I didn’t. What was I supposed to do? We were kids, Daisy, and believe it or not it’s not okay to walk around holding each other’s hands or calling each other girlfriends. That’s not okay. I can’t be out and proud. I can’t do that, I’ve already gotten shit for that as it is, for just being myself and who I am. I’d rather toss myself than get tossed because I embarrass you. I’m not up for doing that again. Okay? I wasn’t then either. [ she shakes her head ] Something is wrong with me, that’s what it means. Why? Why would any of the shitty things I’ve done make you think we were friends?

"Well, that’s not who I am. Maybe it wasn’t precisely an easy situation but I wasn’t about to let you keep couch hopping.” She shook her head, wiping her hands over her face. “That’s not what I wanted. I – I knew you weren’t ready to be out and proud. I just wanted to feel like you wanted me, wanted to be my girlfriend. Even if no one else in the castle knew. And then maybe one day tell the people who mattered to us.” Her face fell, any sense of agitation melted away as just the hurt crept into her expression. “You broke up with me because you were afraid I was going to break up with you? I – why would you think that? I wanted to you to be my girlfriend, to just say it. It didn’t matter if anyone else knew but you couldn’t even say it to me.” She took a few steps back, still shaking her head. “Falda...”

Check it, I got dung bombs and joke quills and some fireworks… dude, that would be a terrible date. Besides, most of these are for work.

"Nice! I need to grab some of those joke quills for work. Aw, really. I think it’d be fun. Set up a few pranks, giggle and watch in the bushes then run away to a nice dinner.” 

Date? Me? On Valentine’s Day? Oh no, I’ve much more pressing things to do but how about you?

"No date? Aw, c’mon. No one’s caught your eye. Oooh no, don’t try to deflect!”

It’s lucky you have a job like that, I imagine it’d make things so much easier when it comes to things like that. [ she grins ] Oh, really? That’s adorable, I love it. I pick such somber names for my pets, that’s actually really clever of you. 

"It’s a blessing since I love the work since I always have to bring it home. There’s no off the clock for me. It does make it easier for taking care of little fur babies. I’m there when they need me.” She smiled brightly. “Thank you! I saw their spunk and just immediately thought of them. Oh? Now, I’m sure that’s not true. Do you have any pets?”

Yeah, I think so! I’ve never seen one before, but it’s amazing! I want to go up in one.

"I’ve seen pictures but never one in person. That’s terrifying. Incredible but terrifying! I think I’d like to try it though. We should go! I’m sure Tilden could find a place that does it!”

“I know, I know. Something just popped into my head and I had to write it down before the thought flit away. But I couldn’t find my pen. It fell out of the case and into the bottom of the bag so I had to pull it all out to find it. I’m trying to my best, Garrick. I swear.”

You should put your pen behind your ear, that’s what I do with my wand. Otherwise I swear I’d lose it constantly, I’m terrible at keeping track of things. I shouldn’t be, but I am. [ he nods, expression disbelieving ] I’m sure, yep, yep. 

"I’ve tried that. I usually end up forgetting its there and then frantically looking for it. While it’s still behind my ear. Many brilliant minds are also scattered ones!” She defended with a bright laugh. “Hey, I am!” She pouted, before shaking her head.

I did. I do. But I never should’ve moved in with you, and that never should’ve been an offer. I didn’t have to do anything, your girlfriend flipped out every time she even saw me in the house. You wanna’ stress your relationship, asking your ex to move in with you is a pretty great way to do it. [ she shakes her head ] I don’t know. I don’t know, why’d we even break up? I don’t know. You never felt wrong, and after a certain point I felt wrong and I wanted you to feel wrong and I just wanted you to get that. I don’t know, Daisy, I don’t know why. I don’t even know how we ended up here at all. 

"So, what? I was supposed to say that sucks and not offer you the space when I had one. Just let you flop from couch to couch. That’s why I have the spare bedroom. In case someone needs a place to stay. I – I know it isn’t exactly conventional but it wan’t going to tear us apart.” Her nostrils flared and she shook her head. “We – we broke up because you didn’t even really want to date, to be girlfriends. The moment I tried to bring it up, you ran away. What? I – I don’t know what that means. I don’t either. I thought – I thought we were friends.”

Should I bring anything? 

"Oh no, not at all. Unless you want to, of course. I’ve got food all covered, Tilden’s baking, and I know most people will be bringing a bottle of something.” She teased.

There’s no catch up to play, really. I’ve managed, I can keep managing. There’s nothing to catch up for if I didn’t tell you until I did, really. Yeah, I’ll give you the books. Most of them I’ve got at the flat, I’ll grab them next time I’m there. [ he shakes his head ] It’s not even about the werewolf thing, it’s— I got fired. And I’m not exactly enemy-free right now, and I’m just trying to keep completely out of it until things have blown over. I mean hell, I barely go outside these days. 

"Not that kind of catch up. Just, getting used to what all this means; in general and for you personally. Thanks. I think if I can read through them, do some fact checking on the authors. I might be able to discredit some of the authors. At the very least it’d call their books into questions.” Her eyes widened, face scrunching tight. “You – you got fired? What happened Remus? I’m so sorry. Well, that’s no good. You should come over, we can hang out in the backyard. Get some safe fresh air and hang out with the pups.”

Bronte sighed, finally sitting down. “How have you been, then?” 

"I’ve been well! Extremely busy but very well. And how have you been?”

That’s not really my thing…

"You don’t have to stay long, but you should stop by. Just to get out for a little bit.”

I got soooo much stuff on sale at Zonko’s on that discount? Amazing. 

"Oh, oh! Show me! I hope you have some dates planned that involve setting these up.”

Fleur loves them. Maybe I’ll take you up on your offer. But I can’t make any promises.
