5. “Oh. I didn’t notice. I’m… I don’t feel very well.” + Buddie
Everyone was staring at him funny. Granted, everyone usually always gave him a funny look at some point during the day. Usually it followed after a surprising but relevant fact that flew into his head about any given situation they found themselves in but still. “What?” Buck asked and the staring turned into looks. The kind of looks that’s crawled under his skin and skittered up his spine, leaving a cold sweat in its wake. “What’s going on?” Buck asked, lifting a hand up to his cheek. “Is there something on my face?” “Buck…” Hen said, setting her beer down on the table and Buck could’ve sworn he heard it from all the way across the table as it thunk’d against the wood grain. “You feeling okay?” He flinched and Chimney’s eyes widened. “You’re slurring, buddy,” Chimney said, straightening up and snatching Buck’s glass to sniff at the liquid still inside. “He’s only had one of these, right?” The pressure building up behind Buck’s sinuses mounted faster than he could catch up until his head throbbed in time with his heartbeat. The music was getting too loud. Why was everyone staring at him funny? “Buck?” The solid weight was a welcome familiar one but at the same time Eddie was going to push Buck through the floor and into the ground if he didn’t let go. “You feeling alright?” “‘M fine,” Buck said and it was harder to figure out how to make his lips do words. Eddie was going to knock him over with how heavy his hand was. Buck shrugged him off and the world spun in the opposite direction. “Buck! Buck!” The air turned funny and Buck was staring at the floor before big strong arms curled around his waist and caught him, easing him back up against the table. Eddie smelled nice. Like cloves and oranges. Buck always liked the way Eddie smelled. But then firm hands grabbed onto his jaw and forced his head up and the whine that fell from his lips didn’t sound like it existed in the air. Eddie’s mouth was pinched in worry, his eyes blazing with something like stress. “‘S wrong?” Buck wanted to know. If he knew, he could fix it. If he knew— Where’d all the music go? All he could hear was the thump thump of his heartbeat. “You’re shaking like a leaf!” Eddie said, running his other hand down to his waist. Buck’s knees threatened to buckle. “Oh.” Buck said as his stomach rolled. “I didn’t notice. I’m… I don’t feel very well.” Then his muscle gave out completely and he and Eddie toppled to the floor together.
