New look at Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes in ‘THUNDERBOLTS*’.
“… we're still blushing.”
in the woods with a couple of masked men
pairing: bucky barnes & steve rogers x female reader
summary: you've been flirting with steve rogers and bucky barnes for a month at the bar you all frequent with your friends, and on Halloween, when you tell them about your fantasy of being chased through the woods by masked men or men, they decide to make it a reality.
warnings: 18+ content (minors dni!!!), threesome, smut, piv sex, unprotected sex, creampie, oral sex (m receiving), chase kink, mask kink, light bdsm, light degradation, praise kink, light choking, roughness, check-ins, pet names (baby, sweetheart, pretty girl, sweet girl) aftercare, halloween shenanigans
word count: 3.6k
a/n: this was my idea for my third and final halloween fic this year and i was really disappointed that i ran out of time to do a fully developed version, but i figured i'd put together something short and (hopefully) hot. this still ended up longer than i expected, but it's much shorter than my normal halloween fics so i hope that's ok 😅 happy (almost) halloween y'all!! ♡

"What do you want for Halloween, pretty girl?"
"I want a masked man—or men—to chase me through the woods and fuck me to within an inch of my life," you answered, a wicked smirk curling the corners of your mouth.
Your eyes slid away from the men you were talking to, casting a glance around the dingy dive bar that was more crowded than normal on Halloween night. You cut your eyes back to them and lifted a single shoulder in an apathetic shrug, your smirk still flirting at the edges of your lips.
"Y'know, just what every girl wants for Halloween."
You were talking to Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, who you’d met a month before Halloween. One of their friends had started flirting with one of your friends at the bar you all liked to frequent, and as that relationship blossomed into more than flirting, you started seeing them more.
You'd gravitated to the handsome best friends, unable to resist talking to them, drinking with them, commiserating with them as your friends grew more and more flagrant with their public displays of affection. Besides, Bucky and Steve hadn't seemed to mind the way you'd laugh at their jokes—even the not-so-great ones—or lean against them when you grew tired late into the night.
Still, you didn't know what impulse had prompted you to tell them about your deepest, darkest fantasy. It must've been some deadly combination of loneliness and recklessness, and the ease you felt when you were around Steve and Bucky. But you couldn’t bring yourself to take it back.
Not when the men reacted by sharing a look like they planning something. Just the thought that they might be thinking about indulging your fantasy made you squeeze your thighs together and lean into the heat emanating from them.
Of course, you were also a little chilly, having worn a skimpy little dress as part of your Halloween costume, but you leaned closer to Steve and Bucky in the crowded bar for warmth and to inhale the intoxicating scent of their cologne, which sent more curls of heat dancing through your veins.
Without looking away from each other, their arms wrapped around you and they crushed you between their chests while they continued their silent conversation. You waited patiently, soaking up Bucky and Steve’s warmth until they turned to you, matching grins on their faces.
After a hushed conversation and a couple rounds of Steve and Bucky asking, "Are you sure you want this, sweet girl?" you found your friends and told them you were leaving with the men.
You told your friends you had your phone on you and promised to keep your location turned on, to check in when you were on your way home. Your friends cackled happily for you and shooed you off with Bucky and Steve.
When you got to the woods, Steve and Bucky each slipped on a Ghostface mask. Your breath caught in your lungs when you saw the big, muscled men dressed in all black and wearing the masks, your heart beating faster in your chest as excitement and desire churned in your belly.
One of them said they were giving you a 30-second head start, so you turned and bolted into the trees, running as fast as you could to put as much distance between you and them in the short time they’d given you. But only 10 seconds later, you heard them start to chase you.
You didn't have the breath to call out and accuse them of cheating, you were too focused on making the game as hard for them as possible. So you ran harder through the woods, losing them in the spindly trees cast in shades of silvery blue by the light of the moon.
For long moments, you ran without hearing anything behind you. You didn't know if you were truly giving Bucky and Steve a run for their money or if they were playing with you, but you didn't hear them chasing you until your lungs were burning and your legs were aching.
All at the same time, you heard a twig snap, the rustle of leaves. A hand snatched at your skimpy little dress, snapping it against your skin when you pulled out of their grasp. A grunt of frustration sounded as a scream welled in your throat, but you couldn't let it loose through your panting, gasping breaths as you ran on.
Fingers closed around your wrist and you shrieked in surprise, whirling around to wrench yourself free as you ran, turning to look over your shoulder and catching a glimpse of the eerie white Ghostface mask with its yawning, wide open mouth.
That glance you spared for your pursuer would be what got you caught—the first time.
With your head turned to look over your shoulder, you didn't see where you were going, and you crashed right into a big, hard chest. You bounced off it with your momentum, but strong arms wound around your waist, holding you pinned to the warm body pressed flush to your curves.
"Got you, baby," came a muffled voice through the mask.
You couldn't for the life of you tell which man it was, whether it was Bucky or Steve. Although, it didn’t really matter to you, your body burned with desire for each of them equally.
"What're you gonna give me to let you go?” the man taunted, his mask tipping down in such a way that you knew his eyes were dragging down to your cleavage, which was in danger of spilling out over the low neckline of your dress. "C'mon, slut, you look like you know how to please a man—so please me, and I'll let you go."
Arousal swirled through your body at the degrading way he spoke to you—you’d told Steve and Bucky back at the bar that you liked a little degradation and you were pleased that they were running with it. You couldn't help the impish smirk that spread across your face in response to the man’s filthy request.
"You're right, dirty man, I know exactly what to give you," you purred running your hands down the man's chest and trying to catch his eye through the mask.
Staring into the spooky visage of the Ghostface mask, you began lowering yourself to your knees and the man helped guide you down. His hands worked open the front of his jeans, undoing them and pulling out his cock while you settled on the cold, leaf-covered ground.
Without preamble, you sucked the man's half-hard cock into your mouth, relishing the way he groaned above you. His hands cradled your head, petting you idly while you licked along the velvety soft shaft, humming happily as you felt him harden against your tongue. He tasted musky, his scent filling your senses and making you gush with wetness between your thighs.
The man’s moans were loud in the forest as you bobbed on his cock, sucking him harder and faster and pushing him closer to his release. Distantly, you wondered where the other man was, but didn't concern yourself overmuch with it as you focused on making the man in front of your cum.
When you could feel that he was just about to let go, his thick cock throbbing against your tongue, you pulled away and broke free from his hold, leaping to your feet and darting off into the woods. His ferocious, frustrated roar followed you through the trees and you couldn't help the cackling laughter that tumbled from your lips as you ran.
Immediately, you could hear the man crashing through the underbrush after you and you had to wonder if he'd even paused to put his cock away before bolting after you.
It seemed you hadn’t learned your lesson, because you risked a glance over your shoulder, trying to get a peak of whether he was chasing you with his cock out, and at that moment, a hand reached out and grabbed your arm, towing you into another strong, broad chest.
"What'd you do to him, sweetheart?" came another muffled voice as the second man pinned your back against a tree, caging you in with his thick arms.
You couldn't help but laugh as you told him how you'd left the other man with his cock out and throbbing with need, teetering on the edge of his release. From behind his eerie Ghostface mask, the man in front of you tsked, shaking his head slowly, almost like he pitied you.
"You're gonna pay for that, pretty girl," he murmured in a husky, muffled voice. His hands slid down the sides of your body, making you shiver at the way he groped you softly, reverently. He was cupping your tits and squeezing your hips in a way that made your body hum with heat as he said, "If you're a good girl for me, maybe I'll convince him to go easy on you."
Warm palms skimmed down the outside of your thighs, fingers curling in the hem of your dress before pushing it up higher and higher…
You almost wanted to give in, to be good for him. Almost.
Instead, you scoffed, "Yeah, right,” and shoved roughly against the man's muscled chest. Though he barely budged, the movement dislodged his hands from your body and you managed to slip away from him, taking off again into the woods.
The man's loud laughter followed you, which was even more deliciously terrifying than the other man's roar had been.
Fleeing from both of the men, you tried to run harder, but you were growing tired—both of running and the game.
It was a good thing, then, that you didn't get far.
It seemed Bucky and Steve were sick of the game as well, because only a few seconds after the man’s laughter died in the night sky, a large body crashed into your back, tackling you to the forest floor.
Whoever caught you wound an arm around your waist and braced a hand against the ground so you didn't get hurt, but you still landed with a soft, "oof," of surprise. The body at your back covered you with its weight, pushing you deeper into the cold, damp leaves blanketing the dirt.
"I'm gonna make you regret leaving me like that, slut," said a gruff, menacing voice in your ear. A hand was pushing up your dress and ripping your panties down your legs while another was fumbling with a zipper, his knuckles grazing your bare ass.
The head of a cock grazed your folds, which were drenched with your desire, and your fingers sank into the soft soil beneath you as you arched into him, biting back a desirous moan. The man's hand grabbed your waist, leaning over you so the cold plastic of the Ghostface mask butted into your shoulder.
"You good, pretty girl?" he rumbled, his voice gentler as he checked in with you.
Your body, which had been tense an intoxicating mix of fear and arousal, relaxed at the question and you smiled, turning your head to catch the man's eye through the mesh of the mask. You shot him a playful smirk.
"Fuck me hard, filthy man," you purred, arching beneath him and pushing against the hard ridge of his cock so it slid through your slippery folds. "Show me how a dirty little slut like me deserves to be fucked."
The man groaned, shifting his hips so he could sink into your wet heat with one thrust, wringing a cry from your lips as his thick girth stretched your tight cunt. When his hips were pressed flush with your ass, he paused and you both took a moment to breathe and adjust to the feel of him inside your pussy.
You didn’t know if the other man had been watching you, timing it perfectly, but it was at that exact moment that he stepped in front of you, dropping down onto his knees as he undid the button and fly of his jeans. He spread his thick thighs and sank down onto his haunches so his cock was level with your face when he pulled it out.
"Why don't you show me what that pretty mouth can do, sweet girl," the man cooed, his voice distractingly patronizing even muffled through the mask. "Be a good girl and suck my cock while your pussy gets pounded."
You didn't need any more encouraging than that, lifting yourself up onto your arms so you could lick along the thick ridge on the underside of the man's cock, smirking when he groaned.
"Ya like that, perv?" you teased in between pressing wet, suckling kisses to the velvet-wrapped steel of his shaft. "Like getting your cock played with by a slut you caught in the woods?"
"Fuck yes," he groaned, cupping your head in his hands and urging you closer to the tip. You wrapped your lips around the head, enjoying the taste of his precum leaking onto your tongue, and sucked him hard. "Oh fuck, your mouth feels so fucking good, sweetheart."
You'd planned to tease the man's tip a little longer, but the man behind you seemed to be done letting you adjust to having two cocks in your holes. He pulled his hips back and slammed inside you again, burying his full length in your pussy and pushing you forward, forcing you to take the other man deeper.
The cock in your mouth brushed against the back of your throat and you gagged at the unexpected feeling. The man in front of you sat back quickly, pulling free of your lips and letting you suck in air while you coughed and recovered.
"Careful, dickhead," he growled, his voice still muffled through his mask so you couldn't tell whether he was Steve or Bucky. His hands idly stroked the top of your head and you found yourself leaning into the soft gesture.
"Sorry," the other man mumbled, his hands squeezing your hips apologetically.
"No, no, I want it rough," you said in a husky voice, straining your body to get your mouth back on the cock in front of your face. You pressed a kiss to the underside of the man's length, looking up at him from under your lashes. "I told you not to hold back—I want everything you can give me, please.”
"Fuck," the man in front of you grunted at the same time the man behind you groaned, starting to thrust into you slowly, making you feel every inch of his cock dragging along the inside of your pussy. The man who'd spoken stroked his fingers down your cheeks, catching a tear that had escaped when you'd gagged. "You're gonna spoil us, sweet girl, letting us use your pretty holes like that."
"Good," you said firmly, before swirling your tongue around the tip of his cock, moaning at the taste of him. You couldn’t wait to swallow his cum, to be filled of both of them. “Then maybe you guys will do this again with me."
"Fuck yes we will, baby," the man behind you groaned, covering you with his body and pinning you into the forest floor while his hand wrapped loosely around the front of your throat. His mask bumped against your cheek as he spoke in your ear. "We'll fuck you anytime and anywhere you want, pretty girl—all ya gotta do is ask."
A delirious smile curved your lips and you were just about to make some sassy comment, but then he thrust hard into your pussy, wrenching a sharp cry from your mouth as pleasure spiraled through your body. The other man used the opportunity of your parted lips to thrust his cock inside your mouth, careful not to go too deep.
Steve and Bucky worked your body in tandem, one of them pinning you to the cold ground and fucking you from behind, while the other held your head steady and fucked your mouth. All you could do was take everything they gave you, never knowing which one was which, moaning as they pushed you to the edge of pleasure.
You were writhing on the ground, your hands grasping at the damp leaves and the thick, jeans-clad thighs of the man in front of you, searching for something to hold onto as your pleasure spiraled higher. You were arching your back to take the cock deeper into your pussy, whining pitifully as you begged wordlessly for your release, unable to control yourself when you were so desperate to cum.
The men must've understood because they hauled you up onto your hand and knees, never removing their cocks from your holes. As they continued to fuck you, they positioned your body so that the man behind you could slip his hand between your thighs and find your needy, aching clit.
"Cum for us, slut," he growled in your ear.
The other man thumbed the tears from your cheeks as he pushed his cock deep into your mouth. He'd opened your throat enough for him so you didn't gag too much, but he fucked you through it anyway, until his cock was rubbing against the other man's hand as it bulged in your neck.
"Be a good girl, sweetheart, and cum on our cocks," the man in front of you urged, his balls pushing against your chin as he buried himself in your mouth and groaning when your muscles contracted as you swallowed around him. "Wanna feel you scream on my dick."
"Yeah, baby, gotta feel your sweet cunt milk me," the other man groaned into your ear, rubbing your clit unrelentingly while he pounded into you hard enough you could hear the sharp sounds of his hips smacking against your ass. "C'mon, don't you want us to fill your holes with our cum—cum for your masked men, sweet girl.”
You didn't know what tipped you over the edge—whether it was the muffled, filthy words or the fingers on your clit, or the pair of cocks ruthlessly fucking your holes—but something set you off, and you came harder than you ever had before.
A shrieking scream worked its way up inside you, making the man in front of you moan loudly when your throat constricted around his hard length. The man behind you grunted as your pussy clenched on his cock, and he buried himself to the root, moaning at the feel of your inner walls sucking him in deeper.
Pleasure consumed your mind thoroughly, overwhelming you entirely as your body trembled violently. You tried to stay in position for the men, but you knew it was their hands more than your own strength holding you up as the ecstasy of your release wrecked you.
The man in front of you came first, holding your head pinned to his abdomen and spilling his seed down your throat while you swallowed weakly, some of it spilling out around the shaft of his cock and joining the spit and tears making a mess of your face.
The other man followed a moment later, pressing his hips flush against your ass and coming with a filthy groan, his mask pressed to your shoulder blade and his arms wrapped around your waist while you felt his cock twitch deep inside you.
In the cold, dark forest on Halloween night, the three of you rode out your pleasure together for long, hazy moments. But when the chill of the air seeped into your cooling skin and you began to shiver, Bucky and Steve pulled themselves free from your body and gathered you up in their strong arms.
Together, they helped you stand, fussing around you as they fixed your dress and tugged leaves from your hair. One of them draped a hooded sweatshirt around your shoulders while the other used your discarded panties to clean the mess from between your thighs.
You'd lost track of who was who as they circled around you to clean you up, so even when Steve and Bucky pulled off their Ghostface masks, you didn't know which of them had fucked your mouth and which had fucked your pussy.
You didn't care overmuch, it was fun not knowing. Besides, you knew if you asked, they'd tell you which man was which.
"Doing good, pretty girl?" Steve cooed sweetly, dropping his lips to kiss your cheek. His fingers smoothed away the grit of your ruined makeup, making you smile.
"Yeah, so good," you said in a dreamy, breathless voice, catching his eye so he could see the honesty in your gaze when you told him, "Best Halloween ever."
Bucky chuckled at your statement and tucked you into his side beneath his arm, turning you in a direction you assumed would bring you back to the car they’d driven out to the woods.
"Let's get you home, sweet girl," Bucky murmured, brushing a kiss against your temple while Steve slid in on your other side, his arm wrapping around your waist. They held you clutched between their bodies, and you felt nothing but warm, sated and happy. "You've had your halloween fun with your two masked men, now it's time to rest."
"Yes, sir," you said on an exhale. Though you'd been trying for a playful tone, your voice was soft and sweet and you found you meant it. You trusted them to take care of you, and you let your head fall on Steve's shoulder, snuggling into him while you let the best friends guide you back to the car.
Once Bucky had tucked you into his lap on the passenger’s seat, you texted your friends to let them know you were ok while Steve drove you home. The men helped you inside and, at your request, stayed the night, cuddling up with you in your bed.
That night, you fell asleep with a smile on your face snuggled between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes knowing you got what every girl wants (or, at least, what you wanted): some fun in the woods with a couple of masked men—and a Halloween night to remember.

My girl.
Warning- Soft dark Bucky and Steve, manipulate, spiking drink, planning and kidnapping maybe?, possesiveness, jealousy, 6.6k words.
You tug at the hem of the black dress Natasha had lent you, feeling a little out of your comfort zone but enjoying the way it hugs your curves. Even Thor, your ever-blunt best friend, had taken a moment to whistle in appreciation when he saw you. “Damn, Sweets, if I wasn't already taken...” he'd teased with a wink, earning a playful slap from Wanda.
You laughed, shaking your head, “Thank you, but come on lets go, Natasha is waiting for us!!!”
Now, inside the nightclub, you were mesmerized. The music was pulsing through the air, vibrating under your skin, and the flashing lights created an electric energy that makes it impossible not to get caught up in the atmosphere. Wanda and Thor were already pulling you towards the bar, but your gaze lingers, scanning the crowd.
That’s when you see them.
Two men, both wearing baseball caps, an odd choice in a place like this. One has short blond hair, his face sharp yet friendly even under the dim lighting. But it’s the other one who catches your attention. Dark brown hair falls slightly into his eyes, piercing blue beneath the brim of his cap. He’s leaning against the bar, his expression unreadable, yet there’s something about him... something dark, something intriguing.
You quickly look away when Thor hands you a shot, grinning widely. “To a great night!” he declares. You, Wanda, and Thor clink glasses and down the shots, the burn spreading warmth through your veins. Laughter bubbles out of you, as Natasha joins and drags you to the dance floor, and soon you're lost in the music, swaying and spinning with the beat.
Little do you know, the two guys in the caps were watching you.
The blond one, Steve, nudges his friend with a knowing smirk. “See something you like?”
Bucky’s lips curl at the corner, his eyes never leaving you as you move effortlessly to the music. The lights catch on your skin, your smile lighting up your face in a way that sends a spark through him.
“Yeah,” he murmurs, his voice low and dark. “I do.”
The music pulses through your body, and you let yourself get lost in it, swaying and twirling under the flashing lights. Laughter spills from Wanda and Natasha as they dance beside you, their energy infectious.
But despite the music and the crowd, your thoughts drift back to those two guys.
Curiosity gets the better of you, and you glance back toward where you first saw them, only to find the spot empty.
Your brows furrow slightly. You could’ve sworn they were there...
Before you can finish the thought, some movement catches your eye. They're closer now. Much closer.
The dark-haired one with those piercing blue eyes stands near the edge of the dance floor, his gaze locked onto you like he’s been watching your every move. The blond one leans in to say something to him, but Bucky doesn’t react, his focus entirely on you.
You swallow hard, a strange mix of excitement and nerves fluttering in your chest.
And then it happens, gradually at first. The more you move, the closer they seem to get. Each beat of the music shortens the distance until, before you realize it, there’s a presence behind you.
A warmth at your back.
Your heart stumbles in your chest as you turn, and suddenly, he’s there. The dark-haired stranger stands close, almost too close. The sharp angles of his jawline, the way his eyes pierce right through you, leave you momentarily speechless. Up close, he’s even more devastatingly handsome, and your brain screams at you to keep it together.
He offers you a small, almost sly smile and reaches out, taking your hand in his. His grip is firm but gentle, sending an unexpected thrill down your spine.
“I'm Bucky.” he says, his voice deep and smooth, laced with something that makes your breath hitch.
You blink, trying to ground yourself, “Y/n…” you manage, feeling warmth rise to your cheeks as you force yourself to meet his intense gaze.
The moment lingers, and with a shy smile, you turn back to Wanda and Natasha, hoping to gather your scattered thoughts. They’re both watching with matching grins, their expressions practically screaming “we saw that.” Your cheeks heat further, and you shake your head, laughing nervously.
It isn’t until you try to raise both hands to gesture at them that you realize something.
Bucky was still holding your hand.
Your eyes flick down in surprise, and when you look back up, there’s an unmistakable glint of amusement in his gaze. He gives your hand a light squeeze, as if testing whether you'll pull away.
You don’t.
Bucky tugs lightly at your hand, a silent invitation to follow him. Just as your feet begin to move, a familiar voice cuts through the music.
“Whoa, whoa, where do you think you're going?”
You turn to find Thor standing there, arms crossed and an amused yet protective look on his face. His gaze flickers to Bucky, sizing him up with that big-brother energy you’ve grown used to.
“Just to the bar.” Bucky says smoothly, but there's an edge to it, like he's not used to being questioned.
You introduce Bucky and Thor to each other.
Thor’s eyes narrow slightly, looking at Bucky, before turning to you. “Stay where I can see you, yeah?” His voice is light, but you know he’s serious.
You roll your eyes with a playful smile. “Yes, Dad!”
Satisfied, Thor gives Bucky one last look before heading back to Wanda and Natasha, who are too busy dancing and whispering to each other to notice much.
You finally let Bucky lead you through the crowd, feeling the warmth of his grip as he weaves effortlessly through the pulsing bodies. The bar is busy, but he navigates it like he’s been here a hundred times before.
“This is Steve…” Bucky says, nodding toward the blond guy in the cap you noticed earlier.
Steve offers a friendly smile, his blue eyes warm. “Nice to meet you.” he says, tipping his drink slightly in greeting.
“You too…” you reply, offering a small smile.
Bucky leans in a little closer, his voice low against your ear. “What’ll you have?”
You wave him off, feeling a little awkward under his gaze. “Oh, I’m good.”
Bucky raises an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed with your answer. “C’mon, something.”
You glance around nervously, then mumble, “Uh… orange juice?”
The moment the words leave your mouth, you regret it. Your brain practically screams at you, “Who on earth orders orange juice in a nightclub?”
Steve stifles a laugh behind his drink, and Bucky just smirks, his eyes glinting with something you can’t quite place. “Orange juice, huh?” he muses, signaling the bartender. “Classy.”
You groan, covering your face for a second, “I panicked, okay?”
Bucky chuckles, leaning a little closer, “Don’t worry, doll. I like classy.”
Your heart does an embarrassing little flip at the nickname, and before you can come up with a response, he hands you the drink. The way his fingers brush yours sends a spark of warmth up your arm.
Before you can sip, Bucky’s hand returns to yours, leading you further away from the crowded bar area. You find yourself in a quieter corner of the club, where some people are lounging, some are smoking, and the music feels a little more distant.
Your nerves kick in again, but Bucky’s presence is oddly steadying. His gaze never leaves you, like he’s figuring you out piece by piece.
“So,” he says, leaning against the wall, “what’s a girl like you doing in a place like this?”
You take a tiny sip of your orange juice, trying not to cringe. “Apparently... making excellent drink choices.”
Bucky laughs, and you realize then how soft his smile can be despite the dark edge lingering beneath it.
You glance around the dimly lit corner of the club, your fingers tracing the cold glass of your orange juice. The air here feels heavier, laced with smoke and whispers of conversations that don’t quite reach you. Bucky stands close, his eyes never leaving your face as if he’s studying every flicker of emotion.
“Do you smoke?” he asks suddenly, his voice low and rough, cutting through the haze around you.
You shake your head, offering him a small smile. “No, not really my thing.”
He nods, then tilts his head. “Mind if I do?”
You glance at him, the way he stands with such quiet confidence, and shrug. “I don’t mind.”
With a smirk, he pulls out a cigarette and lights it with practiced ease, taking a slow drag before exhaling the smoke in a way that somehow makes your heart stumble. The glow of the cigarette highlights the sharpness of his features, casting shadows across his jaw.
You find yourself mesmerized…again.
And then, in that same soft, dangerous voice, he says it.
“You’re my girl now,” he murmurs, his eyes cutting through the smoke to meet yours. “If anyone comes near you... I’ll fucking kill them!”
Your breath catches, and for a split second, your mind flashes to your ex. He never said anything like that to you. Not once. Your brain screams at you to stop thinking about him, to stay in the present, but it’s too late. The comparison lingers.
You shake it off, letting out a soft laugh, trying to lighten the mood. “Is that so?” you tease, tilting your head. “Then prove it.”
Bucky’s lips curve in a way that makes something tighten in your chest. Without another word, he takes your hand, still warm from before and leads you back toward the bar. The music grows louder again, pulsing around you like a heartbeat, and just as you start to feel the weight of his words settle in, Thor intercepts you.
“Alright, sweets” Thor grins, grabbing your hand before Bucky can react. “Time to dance.”
You throw a quick glance over your shoulder at Bucky, but Thor’s already twirling you into the crowd. Wanda and Natasha cheer, and soon you're moving with them, laughing and letting the music wash over you.
But it doesn’t last long.
Before you know it, a familiar grip wraps around your wrist, not gentle this time. Firm, almost painfully tight. Bucky. He doesn’t say anything as he pulls you away, but the intensity in his hold is enough to make your heart race for a different reason. He’s not asking. He’s taking.
You barely manage to throw Wanda a glance before you’re dragged through the crowd again, your feet struggling to keep up with his pace. The air between you thickens, and it finally hits you. You’re not just his girl now.
Bucky Barnes is possessive about his girl.
Your skin tingles under his touch, and for the first time tonight, a little voice in the back of your mind wonders just how deep that possessiveness runs.
You don’t notice the way Steve watches from the sidelines, a slow smirk tugging at his lips, as if he knows exactly what’s going on inside Bucky’s head. As if he’s seen it all before.
Bucky’s grip on your hand loosens as he finally stops, and when you look up at him, expecting to see the same intense expression from moments ago, you’re met with something entirely different.
A soft smile.
It’s disarming, almost as if the possessiveness he showed just seconds ago never happened. His blue eyes are calm now, gentle even, and it throws you off balance. You’re not sure how to react. Should you call him out? Ask what that was about? Or just... let it go?
Your heart is still racing from how easily he dragged you away, but before you can decide what to say, Steve steps closer, and Bucky turns his attention to him. Their conversation is low, their words blending into the pulsing music, and for a moment, you’re left standing there, trying to process everything.
Meanwhile, back at the dancefloor, Thor is anything but calm.
“I don’t like it,” he says, eyes narrowing as he watches you with Bucky from across the room. “I don’t trust his intentions.”
Natasha, ever the observant one, nods in agreement. “Did you see how he pulled her away? That wasn’t... normal.”
Wanda, though quieter, presses her lips together in concern. “Y/n didn’t seem to mind too much, though.”
Thor lets out a frustrated sigh. “That’s the problem. Guys like him? They have a way of making it feel like it’s okay... until it’s not.”
Natasha’s eyes darken slightly, and she exchanges a knowing glance with Wanda. “We need to step in before this goes any further.”
Wanda nods. “I have an idea.”
Before long, Natasha and Wanda are weaving through the crowd toward you. You’re still standing with Bucky and Steve when they reach you, their smiles bright but calculated.
“We’re just gonna steal her for a sec!” Natasha says smoothly, looping an arm around yours before Bucky can protest.
Bucky’s jaw twitches slightly, but he nods, letting them take you. “Don’t take too long.”
You let them pull you away toward the restrooms, barely registering the way Bucky’s gaze lingers on you as you disappear into the crowd.
Inside, Natasha closes the door behind you, and Wanda immediately turns to you, her eyes full of concern. “Alright, spill. Are you okay?”
You blink, caught off guard. “Yeah, of course. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Natasha raises an eyebrow. “Sweetheart, he dragged you off the dancefloor!”
You let out a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of your neck. “Okay, yeah, that was... intense. But he’s…I don’t know, it’s weird. He’s intense but then... soft?” You groan, pacing a little. “And I’m not even drunk, so I can’t blame it on that, but part of me just... wants to be around him.”
Wanda’s eyes soften. “You sure it’s not just the mystery?”
You sigh, leaning against the counter. “Maybe? I don’t know. But I’m fine. Really.”
Natasha exchanges a look with Wanda, not entirely convinced. “Just... be careful, alright?”
Meanwhile, outside the restroom, Steve watches as Bucky takes another slow drag of his cigarette, his eyes fixed on the door you disappeared through.
Steve sighs. “Buck, you gotta calm down.”
Bucky doesn’t answer immediately. He exhales smoke slowly, his eyes still on the door. “She’s mine.”
Steve shakes his head, crossing his arms. “You barely know her.”
Bucky finally looks at him, and for a brief moment, there’s something dark in his expression. “I know enough.”
Steve watches Bucky carefully, noting the way his jaw tenses as he stares at the restroom door. The silence between them stretches until Steve finally breaks it.
“What’s going on in that head of yours, Buck?” he asks, his voice low but firm. “What’s the plan here?”
Bucky flicks the ashes from his cigarette, his lips pressing into a thin line. “She’s mine.” he says simply, as if that alone explains everything.
Steve raises an eyebrow. “And?”
Bucky’s eyes remain fixed on the restroom door, his expression unreadable. “I’m not gonna rush it. She’ll come to me.”
Steve lets out a quiet chuckle, shaking his head. “And if she doesn’t?”
A smirk tugs at the corner of Bucky’s lips. “She will.” His voice is full of quiet certainty. “We wait. We watch.”
Before Steve can respond, the restroom door swings open, and you step out with Wanda and Natasha. You look more composed now, but your eyes instinctively search for Bucky. When you find him leaning against the wall, his gaze unreadable, something inside you twists unexpectedly.
Before you can take a step in his direction, Thor is suddenly at your side. “C’mon, sweets…” he says, slinging an arm around your shoulder and leading you straight back to the dance floor. His grip is firm but not overbearing, a silent reminder that he’s keeping you close. Wanda and Natasha follow, shooting Bucky a subtle glance.
Bucky watches, his expression darkening as Thor keeps you firmly within the group, away from him. His fingers tighten around his cigarette before he flicks it to the ground and grinds it under his boot. He doesn’t take his eyes off you, but he makes no move to come closer. Instead, he leans back against the wall, arms crossed, his attention shifting to Steve.
“What’s the plan now?” Steve asks, watching Bucky carefully.
Bucky’s lips curl into a slow, almost dangerous smirk. “Wait and watch.”
Steve nods knowingly. “You’re playing the long game, huh?”
Bucky’s eyes follow you as you laugh at something Thor says, but there’s a flicker of something in your expression, something almost hesitant. “She’ll come to me,” Bucky murmurs, as if it’s inevitable. “She’ll start missing me soon enough.”
And maybe he’s right. Because as you dance with your friends, trying to enjoy yourself, you can’t help but steal glances in his direction. Every time you do, he’s already looking away, ignoring you as if you don’t exist.
And for some reason, that stings.
You know you shouldn’t feel this way. Thor and the others are just looking out for you, making sure you’re safe. But there’s something about Bucky’s sudden coldness that unsettles you. You can’t explain it, but a small part of you feels... bad.
Kindness.
It’s one of your biggest weaknesses. Your friends adore that about you, but they also know it makes you vulnerable. People can take advantage of it.
And as much as you try to shake it off, that little voice in your head wonders if Bucky is counting on that very thing.
You sway half-heartedly to the music, but your mind isn't on the beat or the flashing lights. Your eyes keep drifting to where Bucky and Steve are standing, and every time you see Bucky deliberately looking away, something inside you twists.
Natasha nudges you gently. “Sweets, stop.”
You blink, pulling your gaze away. “Stop what?”
“Being you!” Wanda chimes in with a teasing yet serious look. “You’re too kind. You always feel bad when you shouldn’t.”
Natasha nods in agreement, crossing her arms. “Kindness is great, but not when it keeps you up at night worrying about people who don’t deserve it.”
You sigh, running a hand through your hair. “I can’t just switch it off, Nat.”
Natasha rolls her eyes but smiles knowingly. “Yeah, yeah, we know. Doesn’t mean we won’t try.”
They both mean well, and you know they’re right. But it’s easier said than done. Your kindness is part of who you are, for better or worse. And right now, it’s gnawing at you, making it impossible to focus on anything else.
Meanwhile, across the club, Steve watches you carefully before turning to Bucky. “She’s getting restless,” he says, sipping his drink. “You counting on that?”
Bucky smirks, tapping his fingers against the table. “Of course, I am.”
Steve exhales slowly, leaning in slightly. “Why her, Buck? There’s plenty of girls here tonight. Hell, there have been plenty of girls before her. What makes this one different?”
Bucky's smirk deepens, his eyes flickering with something unreadable. “She’s not like them,” he says simply. “She’s got... a softness. But not weak. She’s got fight in her too.” He pauses, his gaze locking onto you from across the room for the briefest moment before he looks away again. “And she doesn’t even realize it.”
Steve shakes his head with a knowing chuckle. “You’re obsessed.”
Bucky’s smirk fades slightly, replaced by something more dangerous. “I don’t do half-measures, Steve.”
Steve leans back, watching Bucky with careful eyes. “Yeah... I know.”
Back on the dancefloor, Thor notices the way you keep sneaking glances in Bucky’s direction, the way your shoulders sag with indecision. With a heavy sigh, he leans down, his voice gentle but firm.
“Alright, doll,” he says, using the nickname Bucky had claimed as his own. “Go.”
You blink up at him in surprise. “What?”
Thor gives you a knowing look. “Go back to him. But stay where I can see you.”
A wave of relief washes over you, and you can’t help but smile. “Thanks, Thor.”
He ruffles your hair playfully. “Just don’t make me regret it, yeah?”
With a nod, you turn and make your way back toward Bucky and Steve, your heart pounding with anticipation. You don’t notice the way Bucky’s lips twitch as he watches you approach, like he knew this moment was inevitable.
Steve watches you approach with a knowing smile, nudging Bucky slightly with his elbow. “Told you…” he mutters, amusement dancing in his voice.
Bucky doesn’t respond. Instead, he leans against the bar, his expression unreadable as you finally reach him.
You stand there for a moment, waiting for him to say something, anything. But he doesn’t. He doesn't even look at you.
“Hey…” you say softly, but he doesn’t react.
You clear your throat and try again, a little louder this time. “Bucky?”
Still nothing.
Frustration bubbles up inside you, but you push it down, giving it one last shot. “Are you seriously going to ignore me all night?”
Silence.
Something sharp twists in your chest, and with a sigh, you take a step back. “Fine,” you say, your voice steady despite the sting of disappointment. “If you don’t want me here, I’ll go. I’ll leave you alone, just like you want.”
Before you can turn away, his hand shoots out, wrapping around your wrist. The grip is firm but not rough but possessive, in a way that sends a shiver down your spine.
“I don’t like being ignored.” he says, his voice low and dark, his blue eyes locking onto yours.
Your breath catches in your throat. “I wasn’t ignoring you…” you murmur, suddenly feeling the heat of his touch.
His lips twitch into something that’s almost a smirk. “Apologize.”
You blink up at him, your heart racing. “I…what?”
“Apologize,” he repeats, his thumb brushing lightly against your wrist.
You roll your eyes, but there’s no real bite to it. “Fine. Sorry, Bucky.”
Satisfied, he tugs you closer and starts leading you toward the dancefloor. You don’t resist, letting him pull you into the crowd. The music pulses around you, and before you can fully register what’s happening, his hands find your waist, drawing you flush against him.
There’s no space. None. His body is pressed firmly against yours, and your heart pounds wildly in your chest. The heat between you both is undeniable, and your mind is racing, screaming at you to think straight, but it’s impossible with him this close.
“Relax…” Bucky murmurs near your ear, his breath warm against your skin.
You try, but it’s impossible. His hands grip your hips, guiding you in sync with his movements, slow and deliberate. Your skin tingles under his touch, and every time your body brushes against his, your pulse spikes.
After a few moments, he leans down, his lips ghosting over your ear. “I wanna do something for you.”
You swallow hard, shaking your head slightly. “Bucky, there’s no need for that.”
He grins, and the playful banter begins. “I didn’t ask if there was a need.”
“Seriously, it’s fine.”
“Let me.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
And then, without warning, he silences you the only way he knows how.
His lips crash against yours, stealing your breath and every coherent thought in your head. The kiss is firm, confident, and leaves no room for argument. Your hands instinctively find his chest, fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt.
When he finally pulls away, his blue eyes flicker with mischief, and he winks at you. “Told you I’d do something for you.”
You’re left standing there, breathless and stunned, as the music pulses around you, but all you can focus on is him…just him.
Bucky leads you through the crowd, weaving past dancing bodies and flashing lights until you reach a secluded corner of the club. The music is quieter here, the atmosphere darker, more intimate. You stand close, the space between you charged with something you can't quite name.
For a while, neither of you say anything. You shift awkwardly under his intense gaze, biting your lip as you wait for him to speak first. Eventually, he does.
“I like you.”
The words are so simple, so unexpected, that they make you laugh. “Really?” you tease, arching an eyebrow. “Just like that?”
Instead of answering, Bucky takes a step back and, to your horror, cups his hands around his mouth and shouts, “I like her!”
Heads turn, eyes land on you both, and you feel heat rush to your cheeks as you frantically reach for him. “Bucky! Shut up!” You hiss, tugging at his arm.
He grins, utterly unapologetic, and takes it a step further. “I REALLY LIKE HER!!!!”
You slap a hand over his mouth, eyes wide in mortification. “Okay! Okay, I believe you! Just be quiet, you goof.”
Bucky chuckles against your palm, his eyes twinkling with mischief. Slowly, you lower your hand, and before you can say another word, he kisses you again.
This time, it's slower, deeper, less about teasing and more about something real. Your hands instinctively find their way to his chest, your palm resting over his heart. You can feel the steady, strong rhythm beneath your touch, and it does something to you. A soft sigh escapes you, and Bucky’s lips curve into a smile against yours.
When he finally pulls back, he presses his forehead against yours. “Come with me…” he murmurs, his fingers brushing against your waist.
Your heart skips a beat, but reality crashes in just as quickly. “I can’t…” you whisper, shaking your head. “I came here with my friends. Thor won’t let me just disappear.”
Bucky’s jaw tightens, and for a split second, there’s something dangerous flickering behind his eyes. “I don’t take no for an answer, doll.”
Before you can protest, his lips are on yours again, stealing your breath, your words, your logic. You feel his arm tighten around your waist, holding you close, keeping you in his orbit.
What you don’t see is the way he locks eyes with Steve over your shoulder. There’s a silent exchange, a plan forming without words. Steve nods subtly, a smirk tugging at his lips as if he knows exactly what Bucky is thinking.
You’re too lost in the kiss to notice.
You try to pull away, your hands pressing lightly against Bucky’s chest, but he doesn’t let you go. Instead, he tilts his head, a playful yet dangerous glint in his blue eyes. “You think I’m stupid, don’t you?” he says, his voice low and laced with something that makes your stomach twist.
Your eyes widen in surprise. “What? No, of course not!”
Bucky hums, unconvinced, his thumb tracing lazy circles on your waist. “Then why won’t you come with me? You think I can’t take care of you?”
The guilt hits you like a truck, and you immediately shake your head, your voice softer now. “Bucky, that’s not it at all. It’s just… my friends. Thor won’t let me go that easily, and I don’t want to worry them.”
Bucky stares at you for a beat, then his lips curl into a smile, his hands sliding up to cup your face. He leans in, his forehead resting against yours, and makes a face, his eyes wide, mouth open like he’s about to devour you whole.
You burst into laughter, swatting at his chest. “Stop that, you’re ridiculous!”
He grins, his thumbs gently stroking your cheeks. “But you love it,” he teases.
Your laughter fades into a soft smile, and for a moment, you forget everything else. But what you don’t see is the way Bucky’s eyes flick over your shoulder, locking onto Steve.
Behind your back, Steve nods, the plan silently set into motion.
And just like that, you’re already one step closer to exactly where Bucky wants you.
Just as you’re starting to relax in Bucky’s hold, a familiar voice cuts through the moment.
“There you are!” Wanda’s voice is laced with amusement and just a hint of suspicion. She strides over, her eyes flickering between you and Bucky with a knowing smirk. “Come on, we’re not letting you disappear just yet.”
You sigh, reluctantly stepping back, but Bucky doesn’t let you go so easily. His hand stays wrapped around your wrist, and he tilts his head at you with a playful pout. “You really think I’m stupid, don’t you?”
You blink in confusion. “What?”
He leans in, voice dripping with faux hurt. “That’s why you’re not coming with me. You think I’m some idiot who can’t handle Thor.”
Wanda laughs, crossing her arms. “It’s not about you, Barnes. Thor’s just… let’s say, protective about his friends.” She glances at you. “Right, dear?”
You nod quickly, grateful for Wanda’s backup. “Exactly. I don’t want to cause drama.”
Bucky smirks, but there’s something sharp beneath it, something calculating. “Drama? Doll, I’m all about drama.”
You roll your eyes, about to respond when Wanda grabs your hand. “Come on, let’s go.”
Just as you turn to leave, something shifts in the air. Steve, who had been lingering nearby, subtly moves into position, blocking Thor and Natasha’s view of you both. The timing is perfect.
Bucky doesn’t let go of your wrist. Instead, he pulls you back suddenly, spinning you right into him. “Not so fast…” he murmurs, his breath warm against your ear.
Your heart stutters in your chest, but before you can process what’s happening, Steve casually bumps into Wanda with a distracted, “Sorry, miss.” causing her to stumble and momentarily break her grip on your hand.
In that split second of distraction, Bucky tugs you further into the crowd, his grip firm but playful, as if daring you to resist.
“Bucky…” you start, but his grin is all you get in response.
Steve watches from a distance, arms crossed and an amused look on his face. The plan was working.
And deep down, despite the warnings ringing in your head, you don’t really want to stop him.
“Bucky, what are you doing?” you whisper, breathless as he pulls you deeper into the crowd. The flashing lights dance across his face, highlighting the mischief in his blue eyes.
Instead of answering, he leans in and kisses you. Soft at first, teasing, before deepening it with a possessive edge that makes your knees weak. Your hands instinctively grip his shoulders to steady yourself, but your mind is screaming at you to get back to Wanda and Thor.
When he finally pulls away, his lips brush against yours as he murmurs, “Still wanna leave?”
You swallow hard, forcing yourself to regain control. “I have to go…” you insist, your voice lacking the conviction you wish it had. “Wanda and Thor are looking for me.”
Bucky’s grip tightens just slightly, his fingers tracing over your wrist. “Stay.” he says simply, like it’s the easiest thing in the world.
You shake your head, trying to find your footing in this whirlwind. “Bucky, I can’t just…”
He tilts his head, watching you closely, and then with that signature smirk, he says, “Just for a little while. We’ll stay in the club, I promise.”
Your resolve wavers, the intensity in his gaze making it impossible to think straight. After a moment, you sigh in defeat. “Fine. Only in the club.”
Bucky’s lips twitch in victory. “Good girl.”
But what you don’t realize is that Bucky’s promise means nothing, not when he’s already made up his mind. While you’re distracted, his eyes flick over your shoulder to where Steve stands near the bar. A single nod passes between them, silent and calculated.
You may think you’re staying, but Bucky has other plans.
Just as you begin to relax in Bucky’s presence, the music pounding in your chest like a second heartbeat, a familiar voice cuts through the haze.
“There you are,” Thor’s deep voice rumbles from behind you. His expression is firm but not unkind as he reaches for your arm. “It’s time to go home, Sweets.”
You glance up at Bucky, feeling the tension in the air shift. For a second, you consider arguing, just a little, but something about the way Thor is looking at you makes you nod instead. “Alright, you say softly.
Bucky’s jaw tenses, but he doesn’t stop you. Not yet.
Just as you turn to follow Thor, Bucky appears at your side, holding out two glasses. “One for the road?” he offers, his voice smooth, his smile disarming. He hands one glass to Thor and one to you.
Thor eyes Bucky suspiciously before taking a sip. You hesitate for a moment, but under Bucky’s expectant gaze, you take a small sip too.
Before you know it, Bucky has his hand on your lower back, steering you gently away from the dancefloor. “C’mon, just for a second,” he says, his voice low and persuasive. “One last moment before you run off.”
You follow him, oblivious to the subtle exchange of glances between him and Steve.
The club lights flash around you, and you’re too caught up in the conversation to notice Thor’s steps faltering behind you. Steve quietly steps in, keeping Thor distracted just long enough for Bucky to guide you further away.
It isn’t until you reach the quieter edge of the club, near the exit, that you realize something is off.
“Bucky,” you say, blinking as you look around. “Where are we going?”
Bucky smirks, his hand firm around yours. “Told you, doll. I don’t take no for an answer.”
Panic rises in your chest, and you yank your hand away, taking a step back. “I have to go back to my friends.”
Bucky doesn’t let you get far. He grabs your wrist again, his grip just tight enough to make your heart race for an entirely different reason. “Apologize,” he says, his voice lower now, laced with something darker. “For trying to leave me.”
Your pulse hammers in your ears, and suddenly, the warmth in his eyes seems a little more dangerous. “Bucky…” you whisper, trying to pull free, but he refuses to let go.
Behind you, Steve stands with his arms crossed, his smirk never fading. He knows exactly how this will play out.
Your heart pounds as you take a step back from Bucky, trying to create some distance, but you don't get far. Your back collides with something solid, someone solid.
Steve.
His arms snake around your waist, holding you firmly against him. You freeze as he rests his chin lightly on top of your head, his breath fanning over your hair. The casual intimacy of the gesture makes your stomach twist, and you can feel the smug satisfaction radiating off him.
Bucky watches the scene unfold with a lazy smile, his eyes dark with amusement. “Relax, doll,” he murmurs, stepping closer. “I already told you, you’re my girl now.”
You shake your head, your voice shaky but firm. “Bucky, you promised. You said we’d stay in the club.”
Bucky’s grin widens, his fingers reaching out to brush against your cheek. “Yeah, well... there’s been a slight change in the promise.”
You stiffen, your mind racing. Steve's arms tighten subtly, his hold secure but not forceful. Yet.
It’s clear he’s enjoying this, the way his body presses against yours, his voice a low murmur in your ear. “You’re way too tense,” he says with a chuckle. “Loosen up, doll.”
You swallow hard, trying to keep your voice steady. “Thor will come looking for me...”
Bucky’s expression softens into something almost pitying. “Thor?” He tilts his head. “Sweetheart, he won’t be coming for you.”
Your brows furrow. “What do you mean?”
Steve chuckles from behind you, his grip tightening just slightly as if to keep you in place. “Let’s just say... he’s taking a nap.”
Your stomach drops. “What did you do?”
Bucky waves a dismissive hand. “Nothing too bad, doll. He’s fine. Just a little... distracted.” His smirk deepens. “That means it’s just us now.”
Your pulse races as realization sinks in. They had planned this from the beginning.
Steve finally releases you, only to grab your hand with a firm grip, and Bucky takes your other hand, his thumb stroking over your skin in a way that feels both soothing and possessive. Together, they lead you toward the exit.
You glance back over your shoulder, searching for a way out, for Wanda, Natasha, anyone, but the crowd of strangers swallows the dancefloor whole, and just like that, you’re outside.
Under the cool night air, Bucky leans in, his lips grazing your ear. “Told you, doll. No one’s taking you from me. You are my girl now!”

Waking up in Bucky’s arms felt different than it had the night before. This morning felt a bit easier and, dare you think, it was natural. A hand moved up and down your back, but it was more of a soothing motion than trying to turn you on. It was so comfortable that it almost put you back to sleep.
“Morning,” he whispered against your forehead.
“Morning,” you whispered back, waiting for him to inevitably start groping you. He didn’t. “Wait, you’re not dry humping me today?”
He let out a sleepy chuckle. “Not unless you want me to,” he teased, leaning back to gaze at you.
You looked at him, too. It was the most relaxed and well rested you had seen him look since you met. And the happiest. You being in the penthouse really made a difference in the dangerous man.
“Did you sleep okay?” he asked, brushing a finger along your cheek.
“Yeah,” you answered. You hadn't meant to fall asleep in the living room, but he didn't seem to mind. “Did you?”
“I did.” He sat up after a moment and stretched. “I’m actually kind of glad we didn't sleep in our bed.”
“Why is that?” you asked.
“Because we haven't made love yet,” he answered in a low voice.
You ignored the heat flowing from your core. “I’m kind of surprised you're holding out,” you said. With the way he always had to touch you and the filthy things that spewed from his mouth, he had to be a ticking time bomb.
Your reaction to him surprised you, too. It was just days ago when you wretched from just the stress of him blowing up your life and everything. Yet last night, you got yourself on his thigh with his encouragement and you willingly slept in his arms. Did that say more about you or him?
He sighed. “Once I have you I won't be able to stop. That’s how much I want you and will keep wanting you,” he admitted, separating himself from you more. “But I want your trust and forcing you into bed won't build it. We’ll be back at square one.”
You blinked slowly. Bucky pushed your boundaries one second and backed off the next. He tore through your walls and rebuilt them just as quickly. The man was a puzzle you feared you’d never figure out.
“It isn't just my trust that you want from me,” you said. That wouldn’t be enough for him. “You want me to love you.”
His eyes bore into yours and it felt like he was letting a wall down for you. “Yes, I do want you to love me,” he said, his voice thick. “I want a life with you and whatever exists beyond that.”
You swallowed. The air was too thick in the room, the emotions raw. He wanted you to love him even after you were gone from this world. “Your Pisces is showing again,” you whispered like it was a secret.
“Well, you did say I was intense, passionate, and I want to be close to the person I fall for,” he whispered, brushing a kiss to your lips and helping you slowly stand. “It shouldn’t come as a surprise to you.”
“I guess not,” you agreed, looking around. You hadn’t checked your phone at all since you went to his place. “What time is it?”
“Still early. Why don’t we have breakfast and then you can get ready for your day out?” he suggested.
That brought a smile to your face. “Yeah, let’s do that.”
His smile wasn’t as bright as yours as he led you to the kitchen and helped you take a seat at the island. “Eager to spend the day away from me?”
He sounded so sad you almost went to him to hug him. “I’m eager to spend the day with my friends,” you corrected him, watching him move around the kitchen with ease. “They’re kind of like sisters to me.”
“Sisters.” He paused and looked at you with a careful eye. “Do you realize you’ve never talked about your family with me? Not once.”
You kept a neutral expression, but you wrung your hands together in your lap. You were surprised it took him this long to point that out. “There isn’t much to say.”
He set two mugs on the coffee maker. “I think there is,” he said, facing you again. “You always mention your friends, your coworkers, Mrs. Crandle, and there’s always affection and love there, but never your parents. Why not?”
If he dug into your life the way he said he had, surely, he knew in some capacity. And it was too early to discuss them, but he would ask again later if you brushed it off. “Because they’re not exactly proud to have me as a daughter,” you sighed, trying not to reflect too deeply on that.
His mouth was set in a grim line. “Why not?” he all but snarled.
You shrugged and avoided his gaze. “I was just never good enough, you know? Whether it was my grades or sports or anything I tried, I was never… exceptional or special. Even when I did well at something it wasn't enough. It was always a toss-up between disappointment and indifference,” you explained. Your accomplishments weren't anything of importance in their eyes. “And when I said I wanted to be a florist I was pretty much told that my life was…” you paused. You weren’t going to cry. “A waste.”
“A waste?” The murderous expression on his face oddly brought you more comfort. “But you are exceptional. You lead with kindness and a good heart when it’s easier to be cruel or jaded. Your kindness saved my mom, and she knew you were special,” he said, shaking his head as he rounded the island. “It’s no wonder you never talk about them. It also explains more of why compliments make you feel uncertain.”
“It’s okay, Bucky,” you whispered.
Your parents weren’t bad people. They never raised a hand to you, and they gave you what you needed to survive in life, but not much else beyond that. No encouragement or affirmations of love. If you disappeared tomorrow, they wouldn’t know. You were invisible.
It was fine. You accepted a long time ago that you weren’t special in their eyes. The life you made in the city with your other loved ones was enough to give you a sense of family and it didn’t take away from the fact that you still loved your parents, but you refused to be like them. You’d still find ways to put kindness out into the world. You’d make others smile if you could. It wasn’t always much, but maybe it would make a difference in some way to someone.
And, well, who you were and what you did made a difference if you asked Bucky.
“It’s not okay,” he argued, framing your face. The intensity didn’t frighten you this time when you looked into his eyes. “And I’m so sorry I brought it up.”
“It really is okay,” you softly said, wondering how he got you to open up again. You would’ve had to talk about it sooner or later and there were people who grew up with much worse. “But you really think I’m exceptional? I’m just-”
He put his fingers to your lips, the thunderous look back on his face. “Don’t you dare say you’re just a florist or I’ll put you over my knee.”
Your eyes widened. He was serious. “I’m just… really hungry for breakfast?” you tried.
He exhaled deeply. “I’ll make sure you’re well fed,” he promised, going back to the task at hand. His shoulders were still stiff as he moved around. “When I compliment you, I mean it. And when I say you’re special or exceptional or anything else, I mean it. I won't let anyone make you feel less than what I know you are.”
Your chest tightened. “I know,” you whispered. The subtle threat to the cook for insulting your taste, beating up John for disrespecting you, he wasn't going to sit by and let people make you feel bad. Maybe one of the reasons he wanted to show you off to his loved ones was so you wouldn't feel invisible.
“Thank you for telling me, Kotyonok. I know that wasn't easy,” he praised.
“Thank you for asking,” you replied, allowing the warmth to settle in your chest.
“But I’m not asking your parent’s permission to marry you,” he blurted out, your eyes rounding. “They lost that privilege when they treated you the way they did.”
“They wouldn’t believe I was marrying you anyway,” you tried to joke. They would recognize immediately how out of your league he was.
“And they don’t need to come to the wedding either,” he snarled, carefully setting your coffee down in front of you when he looked close to throwing something. “It’ll be a small ceremony anyway. Just close friends and loved ones who matter.”
Your heart did a funny flutter. A small ceremony was exactly what you wanted. “Well, if my dad isn’t there, who will give me away?”
“Thor,” he answered without skipping a beat.
You burst out laughing, surprising both of you. The blonde would probably strut down the aisle. “I barely know Thor, but I feel like he'd probably shout something like ‘All rise for the soon-to-queen of the 107th’,” you mocked in what was a terrible impression of Thor.
Bucky laughed, too. “Not the best impression, Kotyonok, but you tried, and he’d probably say something exactly like that.”
“Well, whatever he says, I won’t walk down the aisle in some over the top dress. I want something beautiful, but simple. Same with the ceremony and reception,” you smiled. Something that was you. “And I get the final say in the flowers for obvious reasons.”
His eyes were full of love. Was he picturing you in a wedding gown? “As long as you get to be my wife, our wedding can be whatever you want it to be.”
Your smile slipped. His wife… You hadn’t shut down that you were going to marry him or pointed out how he was once again moving too fast. You even joked about your big day with him. “Um… breakfast?” Anything to distract you.
He had an easy smile on his face as he whipped up something quickly. Minus a quick thank you once he served it, you didn’t say anything else as you ate, and he didn’t push the conversation. Opening up a bit about your family and talking about marriage… Being in the penthouse destroyed your mental and emotional fail-safes.
“I should get ready,” you said, setting your finished plate in the sink and rinsing it.
“Me, too.” You felt him watching you. “If the weather’s nice tomorrow, we can have breakfast on the balcony. Maybe we can make it our routine on nice days.”
“Tomorrow?” you asked.
“If you want to spend the night again,” he casually replied, but you heard the want there. “Especially since we’ll be apart for most of the day.”
“Maybe,” you said. You had planned to just go back to your place once you got back from your day out. “We’ll play it by ear, okay?”
Disappointment showed for just a moment. “You said you’d spend time with me when you got back. That you’d let me know when you got back to the apartment so I could see you.”
“I did say that,” you agreed, remembering your promise when he tried to convince you not to go out today. “But maybe you can stop by the apartment. It could be fun.”
“I guess we’ll play it by ear,” he smiled.
You didn’t wait for him to follow as you went to get ready, but you did pause when you stood in the master bathroom. The left sink clearly belonged to Bucky. His toothbrush, cologne, everything was on that side. The right sink was yours. A toothbrush for you, a new bottle of perfume, deodorant, everything. It was like you were already living there.
You jumped when you felt a pair of lips on the side of your neck, your eyes meeting Bucky’s in the mirror. You hadn’t heard him come in, too distracted by your reality continuing to sink in. “I’ll miss you today,” he whispered, holding your hips.
“I’m not gone yet,” you whispered. You were there with him, in his grip. His touch would linger after he let go.
“I really hate having to share you,” he murmured, dragging his lips to your ear as your heart raced. “But I thankfully don’t have to share all of you.”
You gripped the sink when he snaked a hand between your legs. “Bucky,” you gasped.
“I know it’s selfish to ask when you’re spending time with your friends, but think of me,” he said, rubbing you through your pajamas and pressing his hips firmly against yours. Did being this close to you always make him hard? “Think of how much I want you.”
Your back arched when the metal hand moved to your breast and gently squeezed. You wanted to look away, but his reflection pulled your gaze to it. Trapping you, the way he had you trapped between him and the sink.
“Think of how much I need you,” he whispered, nipping your earlobe when you whimpered. The more he rubbed your pussy through the clothes the wetter the fabric got, the heavier your breathing became, and the more your head spun. “Can you do that for me?”
“Yes,” you whispered. It didn’t matter where you went or who you were with, he’d find a way to seep into your thoughts.
He moaned, his nose moving along your neck before he stopped rubbing you. “That’s my girl.”
You didn’t let go of the sink when he stepped away, your body slightly shaking as you came down from the high he built within. “And you’ll think of me?”
“I’m always thinking of you, Kotyonok,” he said, running a comb through his hair like he didn’t have a raging hard-on. “Always.”
You believed him. “Are you… going to take care of that?” you asked.
He glanced at his crotch with a smirk. “I probably should.” He leaned over and kissed your temple. “I’ll put some music on so you won’t have to hear me this time.”
“How considerate.”
“I’m a considerate guy,” he winked, leaving you alone in the bathroom.
“How do guys walk like that?” you muttered.
You waited until you heard the music start before you went through your routine. He’d likely moan your name at some point while he jerked off. At least he let you be so you could get ready and change into your dress. He said he wanted your trust, but he still found ways to touch you and wind you up. The tension was going to snap at some point and you wondered just how soon.
Looking at yourself in the mirror once you were ready, you tried to smile. You looked admittedly beautiful and felt confident for a fun day out. Did any of that have to do with Bucky?
You emerged after hiding in the bathroom long enough and stared as you saw Bucky in the bedroom. You half expected him to be in bed jerking off or doing something else, but he was dressed for the day. Head to toe in black with his hair slicked back, he looked impeccable as always. The expensive watch and pinky ring fit him well. Did he ever dress down? Why did he have to look so handsome?
“Wow,” he said when he caught you staring. “You look… so beautiful.”
“Thanks,” you said, your cheeks warm as he crossed the room toward you.
Your eyelids fluttered when he placed a gentle kiss on your lips and put something in your hand. When did he grab your phone? “Ray’s going to follow you from Addison’s place.”
It was nice that Ray would be the one to go today and not someone else. “Oh, okay,” you said, checking real quick to make sure you didn’t have any missed calls or messages. “You really know where Addison lives then?”
The subtle smirk made your throat go dry. “Let’s go.”
As he led you out, you wondered if Zemo also knew where any of your friends lived. He got to Mrs. Crandle, but didn’t harm her. Would he do anything else? Glancing at Bucky, the men almost seemed to be two sides of the same coin. The difference was that Bucky thought he loved you and he knew how much your friends meant to you.
A text from Addison came through and broke you from your thoughts. “We’ll be waiting outside!”
“On my way!” you sent back. “They’ll be waiting outside,” you told Bucky.
“The plus side of dropping you off is I get to meet your friends before Addison’s wedding,” Bucky smiled. “Do you think she’ll be the maid of honor for our wedding? I already know Steve will be the best man.”
Back to talking about your wedding day. “Most likely. And Dana and Gina as bridesmaids,” you said. They’d be so happy and would never know how everything came about.
“You know what would be fun? Cupcakes. All sorts of flavors so everyone has something they want, but we’ll have a small cake for the two of us,” he smiled more, reaching over to take your hand. “And we should have a two week honeymoon. Minimum.”
You almost choked on your breath. The man did say he wouldn’t be able to stop having you once he started. Was this the kind of love you deserved? Obsession? “That’s a long honeymoon.”
“It’s just a start,” he sighed happily. “Mr. and Mrs. Barnes. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?”
You glanced at him. “Sounds perfect,” you whispered.
He brushed his thumb over your ring finger. “I just need to get the perfect ring on your finger,” he whispered.
You bit your lip and looked out the window. You could’ve brought him back to reality or pulled away, but you didn’t. You did, however, tense up the closer you got to Addison’s place. This was meant to be your fun day out, but it was going to be about Bucky because your friends would see him. They’d ask questions. They’d be excited and happy for you, too.
Once again there’d be no going back.
Bucky tensed up, too, when he parked. The girls were waiting on the sidewalk and you couldn't help but smile. It was good to see them. “Here we are,” he muttered, squeezing your hand. “And now that we’re here I don’t want you to get out.”
You took a breath. He couldn’t back out now. “I’ll think of you just like you said. How much you want and need me,” you promised him, giving his hand a squeeze this time. “And before you know it you’ll see me tonight.”
He took a breath, too. “I’ll count the minutes,” he said, getting out. You let out a sigh of relief when he went around and helped you out. He had your cardigan in hand, too. “And I have a surprise for you and your friends.”
“A surprise?” you asked.
“Hey!” you heard Addison call out. She waved happily when you made eye contact. “You’re here!”
“Hey,” you smiled, leaning into Bucky when he slipped his arm around you. “I’m here.”
Addison’s face lit up as you walked toward her with Bucky by your side. “Oh, my God. Is this him?!” she asked.
“Him?! Who is him?!” Dana questioned, sweeping an appreciative look over Bucky. She was in a happily committed relationship but appreciated a good-looking man when she saw one. “Who are you?”
“Yeah, who are you?” Gina added with a raised brow. Showing up with a guy wasn’t like you.
“Hi, I’m Bucky,” he smiled charmingly before he gazed at you. “Her boyfriend.”
Your face felt so hot you thought it would catch on fire. He spoke it into existence and made it happen. He weaved the threads of your lives to bring you to this point, to every point.
Addison did an excited little hop. “Yes! Yay! You’re her boyfriend!”
“Yeah, I’m her boyfriend. And you’re Addison, Dana, and Gina,” Bucky smiled, shaking each of their hands. Your blood froze. You never pointed out to him who was who, yet it was another reminder of just how much he knew. “It’s nice to meet you all.”
“AHH!” Addison’s excited shriek made you wince. “She mentioned you were coming to the wedding.”
“I am,” Bucky nodded.
Dana’s jaw dropped. “Hold on. A wedding date?! BOYFRIEND?! Holy fucking shit!”
“Why are we just now finding out you have a boyfriend?!” Gina chimed in.
Bucky held his head high. He was loving this, wasn't he? “Um, surprise?” you lamely spoke, taking in the sight of their shocked and thrilled expressions. They were so happy for you and it nearly made you cry.
Bucky chuckled again and held you tighter. “It’s kind of my fault she hasn’t said much about me. It’s still new and I’ve been selfishly monopolizing her time,” he said. They had no idea how true that statement was. “To be honest, I even begged her to hang out with me today because I love spending time with her, but she was really looking forward to hanging out with you ladies.”
The chorus of “aww’s” would’ve been sweet in any other setting, but he was putting them under his spell. “Okay, but seriously, why are you here with us and not hanging out with your new man?” Dana asked, looking over Bucky again. “I’m on your side, Bucky. She could totally ditch us and we’d get it. Really.”
“I promised him I’d see him tonight,” you said quickly, resting a hand on Bucky’s chest. You didn’t want him to take the bait your friend was unknowingly giving him.
“Yes, you did. And I know you’ll have a blast today,” he said, kissing your temple. “Wait, you ladies weren’t planning on driving or taking a cab, were you?”
“We were going to get an uber or something once my cousin got here,” Addison said.
“Oh, no, no. You can’t take an uber to the winery. That’s your ride,” Bucky said, nodding across the street when a limo pulled up. “My treat.”
You gasped. So did your friends. “Oh, my god. Bucky?” When did he arrange that?
“Surprise,” he smiled, sneaking in a kiss. “And you don’t have to worry about paying for drinks or your meals today either. I’ll make sure it’s taken care of.”
“Holy shit. Are you loaded or something?” Dana blurted out.
“Dana!” Gina hissed. You almost laughed. Dana had no filter, but she meant well. “What she meant was ‘thank you’.”
“It’s fine. Believe it or not, I actually own The 107th, but I don’t really like to brag about it.” Bucky casually shrugged. You stared at him before sneaking another glance at your friends. They were intrigued and completely buying what a ‘sweet’ guy he was. “There is one small catch though, if you don’t mind.”
Addison raised an eyebrow. “What’s the catch?”
“Kotyonok, can you hand her your phone so she can get a photo of us?” he asked, pulling you closer against him and curling his lips in a small smile. “That’s the catch.”
“Oh, my god. He has a sexy nickname for her and everything,” Dana loudly whispered as you handed your phone over.
“A free limo ride with paid food and drinks if we take a photo of you two together? That’s not a catch at all. That’s so sweet!” Addison held the phone up as you tried to put on your best smile. Like it was a normal love story. “One, two, three!”
You stood still for a few seconds before you stole a glance at Bucky. He was looking at you, too, and leaned in for a tender kiss. It was a loving gesture, but you knew it to be possessive, too. Your friends weren’t a threat to your relationship, but Bucky would have all of your attention if he had his way.
“He’s totally enamored,” Dana whispered again.
“I think they can hear you,” Gina whispered back.
“Okay, you two are so photogenic,” Addison swore, handing your phone back. Your breath caught as you swiped through the photos. You two looked like you were in love. How did the camera not catch any of your fear or uncertainty?
Your friends didn’t see it either. All they saw was a happy new couple. Maybe it was better that way.
“I’m not the photogenic one. She is,” Bucky smiled, giving you one more kiss. “Do you mind sending me those, please? Maybe I can frame one of them.”
You bit the inside of your cheek at the additional chorus of “aww’s”. “Sure.” You sent them immediately so he wouldn’t hound you for them later.
Bucky checked his phone when it went off. “Perfect,” he whispered. You thought your friends were going to swoon. “You’ll have to let me know how the winery is. I may have to do an event there in the future.”
Addison smiled and looked between the two of you. “Well, you could check the place out yourself if you want.”
Your heart plummeted and your best friend missed the pleading look in your eyes. “I don’t think-”
“Oh, I couldn’t do that. It’s your day out and me being there makes it feel like I’m crashing the party or keeping tabs on my girl,” Bucky said, rubbing your side.
Your mouth fell open. Were you in the twilight zone? All he ever did was keep tabs on you.
Glancing at the limo, you spotted Ray’s vehicle parked behind it. He couldn’t exactly get out and introduce himself without drawing suspicion because what excuse would he have to be there that your friends would buy? But he did say he could avoid being seen, and you had a feeling he’d still manage to keep a close eye on you today.
“Well, you know we’re going to spend the whole limo ride over hounding her about this new chapter of her love life,” Gina teased.
“I have no doubt,” Bucky winked. “I just hope I’ve made a good impression because she means the world to me and I know she values your opinions.”
“As long as you treat her well. Otherwise, we’ll have to get rid of you.” Addison gave him a hard stare before she smiled. “But I think it’s safe to say you’ve passed the first impression test with flying colors.”
You deflated a bit. That was what you were afraid of. It was better that way. It meant they were safe from Bucky’s wrath.
“I’ll treat her like a queen,” Bucky promised. Whether you wanted it or not. “My girl deserves nothing less than that.”
“You two really are a good looking couple,” Dana noted, wiggling her eyebrows. “I’ll bet the photographer snags some photos of you two at the wedding because how could they not?”
Bucky put a hand on his chest. “I’d love more photos of the two of us, but the focus should be on Addison and Brady since it’s their day.”
He knew all the right things to say.
“You’re too kind.” Addison smiled before her phone went off. Looking at the screen, she groaned. “Of course. My cousin’s just going to meet us there, so I guess we can go?”
“I’ll walk you over,” Bucky offered.
He dug his fingers in enough for you to feel it and you noted the stiffness in his stance as he walked you across the street. Sending you off with your friends was a lot for him, but he had to deal with it. With Ray close by he wouldn’t have to worry about your safety either.
“Thanks again for the limo, Bucky. That was really nice of you,” Addison said.
“No thanks necessary. Just have fun today and drink plenty of water if you do lots of sampling,” he said, pulling you against him before you could get into the limo with your friends. He looked so lost for a split second and immediately leaned into your touch when your hand rested on his cheek. “I love you, Kotyonok. Think of me,” he whispered.
You initiated a gentle kiss which he quickly deepened. It didn’t last long since he had to let you go, but it lingered for both of you. “I will, Bucky.”
You’d think of him after he helped you into the limo. He’d occupy your mind on the drive over. And you’d once again miss the other pair of eyes watching you as you tried to enjoy your day.
Let's hope the day is a fun one. Who is watching? What's Bucky going to do while you're gone? How excited will Thor be when he hears the big news? 😂 Love and thanks for reading! ❤️

“Welcome in!” Bucky heard as he stepped into the bustling cafe shop. The smell of freshly brewed coffee, and baked bread quickly engulfed him. He looked around for the source of the voice while taking in the neatly curated shelves of novels, mismatched wooden tables and the large handwritten chalkboard menu boasting about an array of the day’s specials. Despite its charm, Bucky felt heavily out of place in his chipped leather jacket, and mud cracked boots.
With the patrons weaving past him like he was another display in the shop he continued scanning the area noticing a few stray cats lounging throughout the space. They basked in the early afternoon sunlight that poured through the large windows. One, a sleek gray cat with white mittens and socks stretched lazily on the windowsill, while another a white cat with piercing blue eyes, watched the room with curious intensity.
The customers greeted the felines as they entered the shop and followed the line that formed at the counter where a young man with boyish charm and unruly brown hair was expertly managing the register. Meanwhile a man with a clean shaven jawline and an infectious grin moved confidently between the counter and the coffee makers.
“You need some help?”
Bucky turned to the voice, finding himself at the end of the display case with a woman on the other side. Her hair was pinned up in a loose bun, a few stray strands escaping to frame her face. She barely paid him any mind as she deftly unloaded a giant tray of assorted pastries and bread into the glass showcase, her movements quick and practiced. The faint smudges of flour on her apron and the way she handled each item with care hinted at her role in crafting the delicacies.
“You look a little lost,” she said without looking up, her tone teasing but not unkind. "Can I help you find something, or are you just here to admire the cats?” she asked, finally glancing up at him. Her gaze was sharp but warm, assessing him with a mix of curiosity and amusement.
Her teasing tone caught him off guard, making him glance up sharply. His ears seemed to perk slightly, before he quickly refocused. “Pick up,” he said, his voice low and clipped, offering her a tight-lipped smile that was more reflex than intentional.
She let out a small hum. “Name?”
“Steve.”
“Oh yes–” Her demeanor instantly changed as she put the tray down, wiping her hands on her apron. “Let me get that for you.” Her hands masterfully opened a paper bag with clear cellophane, and slid open the sliding door to the showcase.
“Sam!” She yelled, causing Bucky to jolt. “I need Steven’s special.” She called out, and Bucky's eyes flicked back to her. Steven.
He heard a faint reply from across the cafe commotion and watched as she used the metal tongs to grab two bear claws from the wax paper lined tray. Bucky almost let out a snort but instead, he opted to shove his hands in his pockets, glancing down to his boots. He watched as crumbs of dirt crumbled from his shoe and littered the linoleum floor.
“What’s the Steven Special?” Bucky suddenly heard himself say. He looked at her through his lashes. He watched a small smile sneak across her lips.
“A medium white chocolate macchiato, with two bear claws.” She said, fingers crinkling the bag shut as she slid it across the clear surface. This time Bucky let out a snort. Before he could thank her, she went back to unloading her discarded tray. He hesitated on grabbing the bag.
“So you’re the new guy then?” She asked suddenly, quickly glancing at him. He looked at her. “Stevie's mentioned he’s expecting a new comer, and I’ve never seen you before so—” she explained. Stevie.
“Then yeah.” He gave a curt smile, reaching for the bag on the counter.
“Thought so,” she said, her tone a hint lighter now as she turned back to her work. “He’s been talking ‘bout you for weeks, you know.”
“Nothing bad I hope.”
She turned to set down the now empty tray, glancing over her shoulder, a glint in her eye. “Depends on your definition of bad.” Her tone was playful but laced with just enough intrigue to make him pause. She spins swiftly, closing the display case.
“Nah,” She shrugs with a smirk, “He’s just psyched you're here, it’s kinda cute.”
Bucky raised an eyebrow. She waves a hand in the air.
“He’s just got this way of talking about things—”
“Order up.”
The sudden burst out causing the both of you to abruptly turn toward the man holding out an oat-colored to-go cup.
The woman cleared her throat, shifting back to allow space for the man to step in. Her smirk faded into a polite, neutral expression, her focus now on adjusting a tray of napkins nearby.
“Steven’s special,” the man announced, his grin wide and easy, breaking through the tension that had lingered just a moment earlier.
Bucky’s eyes lingered on her for a moment longer before he turned toward the man, who was now leaning casually against the counter, holding the cup out as if he were presenting a prized trophy.
Bucky nodded and reached for the cup, his movements deliberate. “Appreciate it,” he said, his voice steady.
“No problem,” the man replied, his tone light and teasing. “Better get it to him quick, he’s been talking about the claws all morning.”
“Noted,” Bucky muttered, though his gaze flickered back toward the woman, who was now bent over another display, her attention fixed on her work as if the earlier exchange had never happened.
The man cleared his throat sharply, drawing Bucky’s attention. When Bucky turned toward him, he was already side-eyeing the woman before shifting his gaze back to Bucky with a deadpan expression. It wasn’t accusatory, but there was a challenge in the look—like he’d caught Bucky doing something he shouldn’t be.
Bucky’s brow twitched in response, his face otherwise impassive, and he adjusted the bag in his hand.
“Thanks again,” he said curtly, stepping back from the counter.
Sam held his gaze for a beat longer, then turned his attention away from him.
Bucky stepped toward the door, the hum of the café enveloping him once more. His grip tightened slightly on the bag as he moved, but something tugged at his attention, making him glance back one last time.
The man was now leaning against the counter, his posture relaxed, but his head tilted toward the woman. Whatever he’d said caused her to laugh softly, her shoulders shaking with the motion. The earlier ease in her posture had returned, her movements efficient and unbothered, as though their exchange had been nothing more than a routine part of her day.
She brushed a strand of hair from her face as she replied, her voice lost in the café’s hum. They shared another laugh.
Bucky’s jaw tightened, though his face betrayed nothing as he turned back toward the door. Pushing it open, he stepped into the cool air outside, the bell above jingling faintly as the door closed behind him.
As he walked down the street, the warmth of the café began to fade, but the soft intensity of the exchange lingered. He shook his head with a quiet huff of air, the bag crinkling faintly in one hand while the other held the to-go cup. His boots scuffed lightly against the pavement as he approached a sleek, dark car parked a few steps ahead.
Bucky unlocked it with a press of a button, the quiet beep breaking the stillness. Sliding into the driver’s seat, he set the paper bag on the passenger side and the cup in the holder before resting his hands on the steering wheel.
For a moment, he sat there, the hum of the café replaying in his mind. He exhaled sharply, shaking his head as if to clear it.
With a twist of the key, the engine purred to life, the quiet power of the car grounding him. As he pulled out onto the street, the cool air rushing through the window carried away the lingering warmth of the café—but not entirely.

You tried to occupy yourself as you waited for Bucky to pick you up. You made sure you had your outfit for tomorrow and sent Addison a text to confirm when and where you were meeting. God, what if Bucky insisted on dropping you off? He likely would. There was no way he’d let you head over on your own, unless Ray or someone dropped you off.
“What am I doing?” you muttered.
Staring at yourself in the mirror, you frowned. You had changed out of your work clothes and into something more comfortable. He would think you looked sexy no matter what you wore, even if you didn’t try. What was he going to expect or demand from you? There was no way you’d go through the entire evening in his home without him touching you or something.
You weren’t sure if the anticipation was worse or knowing he’d probably make your body enjoy whatever he’d do to you, and use that as a weapon against you.
The knock on your door made you jump. Had two hours passed already? You checked the peephole and saw Bucky on the other side, shifting from one foot to the other. At least he didn’t break his way inside like he could’ve easily done.
“Hi.” You slowly opened the door to let him in. “I-”
Bucky had you against the wall before you could finish, his lips insistently pressing against yours. The kiss only lasted seconds, but it felt like hours when he pulled away. “Don’t walk home alone again,” he whispered with a brief flash of fear in his eyes.
You nodded after a moment. The conversation from earlier was still on his mind, clearly. “I won’t.”
“You look beautiful by the way.” Taking a breath, he ran both hands through his hair and straightened up. He looked like his normal self again, and you knew it. No matter what he’d find you attractive. “Is this everything?” he asked, picking up the overnight bag and garment bag that you had left by the door.
“Yeah, it should be,” you said, making sure you had your phone and purse, too.
“Was the rest of your day okay?” he asked, watching carefully as you locked the door.
“It was fine,” you replied. You were so busy thinking about Bucky that you hadn’t thought much about Clark. “Was yours?”
“Better now that I’m taking you back to our place,” he said. There was that spring in his step again, like he was allowed to be happy since he knew you were really okay after walking home alone.
“You don’t have to go to the club tonight?” you asked.
“Only if there’s an emergency. There’s no special event tonight, no reason to make an appearance, and my staff knows how to take care of the place,” he assured you. “Time with you is much more important than that.”
When someone like Bucky had the kind of money he did, you imagined he’d drop just about anything to spend time with you and it wouldn’t make a dent in his pocketbook. Even if he lost everything tomorrow, it would be the same. Somehow you’d come first.
Once you were outside, you were surprised to find Steve standing by Bucky’s car instead of Ray. “Hi,” the blonde smiled with a row of perfect teeth.
“Hi,” you replied, stepping a bit closer to Bucky. Steve was his best friend, but you still didn’t know him well. What you did know was that he had his own woman he was stalking.
“Steve insisted on talking to you about that double date.” Bucky playfully rolled his eyes and refused to let his friend take the bags from his hands. He really didn’t want anyone else carrying your things or opening doors for you. “He’s stubborn, but you get used to it after a while.”
“I’m stubborn?” Steve chuckled. “Pot meet kettle.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Bucky smiled, helping you into the car.
The interaction between the two of them was so natural and easy. You imagined that in another life they were decent men who fought for others instead of trapping them. “So, what exactly did you want to talk about?” you asked once you took off.
“Well, we can talk about how excited Bucky is that you’re spending the night,” Steve teased.
“I think she knows,” Bucky smirked, your cheeks hot. Did the whole gang feed into his delusion of what would happen if you stayed over?
“Did you want to talk about the double date?” you asked, hoping the topic switch would help.
“Well, my girl likes art and Bucky mentioned how you sometimes like to relax with a glass of wine,” Steve began, smiling at you in the mirror. “So, I was thinking, we could do one of those wine and painting classes. Just the four of us.”
“But if you didn’t want to do a painting, they do something similar with pottery where everyone can pick their own piece to paint,” Bucky said, slipping an arm over your shoulders.
“Dinner before the painting, too. It would be really nice for you two to talk,” Steve continued, tapping a finger on the steering wheel. “She’s a sweet girl with a big heart, but she doesn’t have many friends nearby like you do.”
“I mean, I’m fine with painting a canvas or pottery. I think we should let her choose since art is one of her passions.” Your heart went out to the girl. Was that why Steve set his sights on her? Did he feel like he was rescuing her in some sense? “And does she have a preference on wine? White or red? Sweet or dry? Maybe I can pick a bottle for her while I’m at the vineyard tomorrow.”
Steve glanced at you again in the mirror, impressed. “That’s very considerate of you,” he said, sharing a quick look with Bucky, too. “And she likes sparkling sweet wine.”
“I have a very considerate girl,” Bucky boasted, kissing your temple. “You really are thoughtful.”
“I try to be,” you whispered, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. “I’m sure Bucky will give me the details once it’s set up,” you said, not finding it in you to argue since you were outnumbered.
“He will,” Steve smiled, clearing his throat. “And now that we have that out of the way…”
“Really, punk?” Bucky asked, tightening his hand on our shoulder.
You sat up a little. All the warmth had left his voice, and he tensed up beside you. “What’s going on?”
“Tell her, Buck,” Steve urged.
You held your breath. Was this about earlier in the day when Ray spoke with Bucky? “Yes, please, tell me.”
Bucky’s jaw clenched. “Mrs. Crandle wasn’t at work today, was she?” he asked as if he already knew the answer.
“No, she…” Your eyes widened. Kate said she called out for some business reason. “Oh, my god. Is she okay?”
“She’s fine, she’s fine,” Bucky assured you, cupping your cheeks. “She’s okay. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“For now, she is,” Steve muttered under his breath.
“Just shut up and drive,” Bucky ordered when you gasped. “The reason she was suddenly out of work today was because of Zemo.”
Your heart sank. What the hell would Zemo want with Mrs. Crandle? “What do you mean?”
“From what we’ve gathered, he met up with her to tell her that she won an all expenses paid trip to a flower expo. She was shocked since she didn’t remember even entering the contest, but he told her someone anonymously registered her,” he explained. “He asked questions about some of her employees in case she wanted to bring anyone from her shop along and your name came up.”
“But why?” you asked. Why would Zemo make a contest just to talk to your boss?
“We still don’t know the angle.” Bucky’s jaw clenched. “He could be doing it to show that can get to people close to you.”
“Like you with Addison and Brady?” you asked. Nick was Brady’s boss now, and it was clear that it wasn’t a coincidence.
“Bucky doesn’t have his hand in the shop out of respect for you, and Zemo knows that,” Steve chimed in before Bucky could argue. “So it’s possible that he may be trying to butter Mrs. Crandle up before he makes an offer, whether it’s to offer some kind of protection or to buy out her shop completely.”
The thought of Zemo owning the shop where you worked or having his hand in it made your stomach turn. “She loves her shop, and she’s honest when it comes to business. She wouldn’t want someone stepping in or buying it,” you said, your breathing a bit heavier. “Is she in danger? Is something going to happen to her because of me?”
If something happened to Mrs. Crandle, you’d never forgive yourself.
“It isn’t because of you, Kotyonok. It’s his actions,” Bucky answered. Just like Bucky’s actions put you in the line of fire. “I hesitated telling you because we still need answers, but she’s safe. We also have someone keeping an eye on her, just to exercise caution.”
You exhaled. If Zemo was trying to scare you, it was working. “Please, don’t keep me in the dark,” you said. Even if it scared you, you had to know. “And Mrs. Crandle is one of the most harmless people in the city and the shop is all she has. If he-”
“We won’t let anything happen to her,” Bucky promised. It was a lot to promise. “And I’m sorry I didn’t say something this morning. I just wanted you to have a normal day.”
You understood part of Bucky’s reasoning. Telling you even when she wasn't in immediate danger would've thrown your whole day off. But what was a normal day now? “We deal with ups and downs every day. So just tell me next time something’s going on, especially if it involves someone important to me.” Ignorance isn't bliss in the world Bucky lived in.
He regarded you with a soft smile. “I will.”
You stayed quiet for the remainder of the ride while Bucky and Steve discussed dinner options for the double date night. It would’ve been endearing with how excited they were, had it not been for the fact that you and Steve’s girl didn’t exactly have a choice. What was going to happen at Thor’s party?
And what about your loved ones? Were they safe? You thought being by Bucky’s side would keep them safe from his wrath, but what if Zemo went after them? You had to trust that Bucky and his men wouldn't allow that to happen.
“You two have fun tonight,” Steve winked. “Try not to get too handsy, jerk.”
“What?” you asked, your throat dry once you realized you were at Bucky’s place. God, you were really there. There was no backing out.
“Just get in your car and go, punk,” Bucky chuckled, helping you out and grabbing your things. “He really is excited for you and his girl to become friends.”
“I’ll bet,” you said, giving Steve a small wave for his benefit.
You counted the number of steps from the car to the elevator. This was similar to when he brought you here the first time because you didn’t know what to expect. You weren’t sure if it was better or worse though knowing what you knew now.
“Where’s Ray?” you asked.
“He’s busy,” Bucky answered cryptically, sweeping his gaze over you. “You seem nervous. If you’d rather skip your day out tomorrow, I can help you find a few ways to relax.”
“How about I find a way to relax and still go out tomorrow?” you suggested.
“You’re really determined to go. And here I thought Steve and I were the stubborn ones,” he smirked, guiding you into the penthouse. “Why don’t you take a seat in the living room and I’ll put your stuff in the bedroom?”
“Okay,” you breathed, hoping he didn’t notice you trembling as you walked through the place. It felt warmer than the last time you were there, more like the temperature that you kept at your place. And as dangerous as Bucky was, you somehow felt safe being there. Someone like Zemo wasn’t going to get in there. Clark wouldn’t either.
Rubbing your arms, you took a seat on the sofa. It was a beautiful room, but nothing like your living room. It wasn't just the difference in size, but you noticed once again that there were no nicknacks or homey touches. Maybe you could add a pop or color or even some flowers to… Oh, God. You were really thinking of how you’d decorate the place.
“You still look nervous,” Bucky said once he joined you, giving you absolutely no space as he took a seat. “You don’t have to be.”
“I’m not nervous,” you lied, biting your lip. “Okay, I am a little.”
He hummed. “Were you expecting me to drag you to bed?”
You nodded slowly. He behaved himself in the car with Steve there, but now the two of you were alone and you had no idea where Ray was. There was nothing to stop him from taking what he thought belonged to him.
“You thought sex would make it up to me because you walked home alone?”
“No,” you said immediately. You shouldn’t have to give him sex to say you’re sorry, especially when he had a much longer list of things he needed to apologize for. “I just thought this was a natural step in a relationship, you know? Spending the night together.”
A natural step would’ve been him staying at your place, too, but he was certain you would live at his place. And having him in your space, it didn’t feel the same. It was something you wanted to keep sacred.
“It is a natural step, but I don’t think you offered to stay here to make it up to me.”
His statement surprised you. That was part of the reason. If you made it up to him, he wouldn’t object to you going out with your friends. You weren’t going to bring up Clark or that the thought of being alone at your place made you nervous. “Then why else do you think I’m here?” you asked.
“Because you like being near me,” he said, your eyes rounding. “You slept beside me last night and you want to experience that again. Either that or being near me makes you feel safer than you want to admit.”
You scoffed. “No, that’s…” You shook your head. “I mean, no. That’s just-”
He gently smiled. “It's okay to admit. It'll be our secret.”
You shook your head again. Admitting that being in his arms wasn’t terrible and that his place did feel safer than yours at the moment would give him another win. “I'm not admitting anything.”
The smile on his face widened. “Is it because I'm right and you don't want me to be right?”
“Maybe this was a bad idea,” you said, standing and crossing your arms. “I should just go.”
“No, no, no. I’ll stop teasing. Please stay,” he nearly begged, getting to his feet, too. “How about I run you a bath and you can relax?”
“...A bath?” you asked. It wasn’t fair. He knew how much you loved taking baths.
He nodded. “A warm bath and a glass of wine, too.”
You uncrossed your arms, avoiding his hopeful gaze. It was a bit of a rough day, on top of a rough week. You deserved to relax. “Okay, that actually sounds really nice.”
He smiled and offered his hand. “I have bath bombs or salts if you want those, too. Anything to help you relax.”
“You have bath bombs?” you asked, your curiosity peaked. “What kind?”
“I have honeysuckle, lavender, vanilla,” he smiled softly. Each scent sounded like something that would help make the stress leave your body. “Let me show you.”
You let him lead the way you were pretty sure most of your apartment could fit inside the luxurious bathroom. The inviting tub almost made you burst into happy tears. It was nothing like your builder's grade tub. This was an honest to goodness clawfoot tub of your dreams.
“You like it?” Bucky smiled.
Blinking, you remembered Bucky saying how he wanted to fuck you in his tub. Would it be tonight? “I love it,” you admitted.
His smile stretched from ear to ear. “I’ll grab a tray and I can bring you a book if you want. Or you can just relax and enjoy your wine.”
“Well.” You thought it over. “I wouldn’t mind a book.”
Bucky nodded and brought the bath bombs out for you to choose from before he ushered you into the bedroom. “Why don't you stay here and pick one out while I'll get everything else you need?”
“Okay,” you said, holding your breath as you stared at the king sized bed. You avoided looking at it when he led you into the bathroom, but now you couldn’t help yourself. That was the bed he expected you to sleep with him in… the bed he’d fuck you and make love to you in. The satin sheets were a dark promise that he’d get everything he wanted and more.
Shaking your head, you carefully picked up each bath bomb and gave them a sniff. Each one smelled better than the last, and your eyes nearly rolled back at the one you selected. You wondered if he had these before you met or if he bought them specifically for you to have available.
Bucky came back after a minute and took your hand, guiding you back into the bathroom. “I’ve got everything all set.” The tub was steaming, candles were lit, and there was a generous glass of wine waiting on the tray with a book. “There's a robe on the back of the door, and I'll make sure fresh pajamas are ready for when you get out.”
You tried not to choke up. It felt romantic, but you appreciated how thoughtful it was. “I…” You had to clear your throat. “I brought pajamas.”
“I know, but I wanted to surprise you,” he smiled. “They’re your size and I think you’ll like them.”
“Thanks.” What other clothes did he have waiting for you? “What will you do while I'm in the tub?”
“I have a couple of calls to make.” He kissed your forehead. “And there's something else I want to set up for you.”
You shook your head. “I think this is more than enough,” you said honestly. He didn’t have to go to the trouble of setting this up. “But…” You fidgeted a little. “You promise you won’t just… barge in, right?”
This was still his home. He could easily make an excuse to go into his bathroom for whatever reason. And being naked in the bathtub, you’d be more vulnerable than normal.
Bucky’s eyebrows pinched. “Of course I won’t. This is your relaxing time,” he promised, kissing your forehead again as you breathed easier. “And like I said, I have a few things to do.”
You felt a little sheepish at his expression. “I’m sorry. I just…”
“Nothing to apologize for. I don't blame you for double checking.” He patted your backside with a gentle hand. “Just enjoy your time.”
With a small smile, he shut the door behind him. You waited a full minute after hearing his footsteps fade before you undressed and added the bath bomb to the tub. The scent brought a smile to your face before you tested the water temperature with your hand. It felt perfect, evident by your sigh once you got in.
You took your time sipping your wine as you began to read. Was this really going to be your bathroom now? Would you relax here after a rough shift or just because you felt like it? How many nights would Bucky insist on joining you?
But the man was, surprisingly, true to his word. He hadn’t disturbed you once. Even after you finished your glass and added more warm water to the tub, he didn’t knock or barge in. Even when you grudgingly got out of the tub and dried off before you pulled the plush robe on, he wasn’t sitting there waiting. Was he actually respecting your boundaries?
Peeking out into the bedroom, Bucky had laid out a pair of soft pajamas like he promised and was still nowhere to be seen. You were still quick to change so he couldn’t sneak a look at you. But where was he?
You thought of calling out when you went to search for him since the lights were dimmed all over the penthouse. Your fingers touched one of the walls. Would he ever hang a picture of his mom up or was it too painful?
Tiptoeing over to the balcony when you saw the door open, you spotted Bucky reading a book, too, and sipping whiskey from a tumbler. He looked completely at ease, lost in his own lonely world, and you weren’t sure if you should disturb him. Turning around, you wondered where you should go. Maybe you could curl up on the couch or something before he could-
“All finished in the bath?”
You froze and turned back toward him, his hair gently blowing in the breeze. “Yeah, sorry. I didn't know what to do when I was done, so I was going to wander around.”
He downed the rest of his glass and smiled. “You're welcome to wander, except into the den which is being redone.” He offered his hand again when he stood. “Did you enjoy your bath?”
“I did. That bath bomb was incredible,” you said. There was no reason to lie. “So was the wine.”
You gulped a little. Oh, god. You didn’t see him pour the glass. Why did you accept that from him? He could’ve put something in it. No, he wouldn’t. He wanted you to want him without that sort of influence.
“I'll get you more. The bath bomb and the wine.” he smiled, leading you back to the living room where he had pillows and blankets set up.
“Bucky, you didn’t have to-”
“I don't have to do anything, but I wanted to. Do you like it?”
You looked at the lush blankets and fluffy pillows. Like the bathroom, it looked like a dream. Looking back at him, you smiled softly at his once again hopeful expression. He carried himself with such confidence and didn't seem to care if he impressed others except for you. “I do. Thank you.”
He smiled, too, his whole face bright. “I thought it would be another good way to relax.”
The memory of Clark walking you home popped in your mind for some reason before you pushed it away. “This is all thoughtful, but aren't I supposed to be making it up to you?”
He frowned a little at your expression. “You being here is more than enough.” His fingers barely grazed your cheek. “Are you okay?”
You blinked and nodded. “I’m fine.”
Bucky considered you and you couldn’t help but fidget again when he pinned you with his gaze. “Is something wrong?” he asked.
You bit the inside of your cheek and closed your eyes. “I just don't understand why you’re doing all of this.”
He could’ve been manipulating you again, but it actually seemed like he was trying to be a doting boyfriend without expecting anything in return. Your guard was down enough for him to worm his way in, and you all too easily accepted the kind gestures. Why were you making it easy for him?
“You mean setting up the blankets and pillows? I thought we could lay together and watch a movie. Or talk.” His fingers touched your cheek again. “Whatever you want.”
You avoided his gaze when you opened your eyes. “That’s all you want?” you asked. He hadn’t dragged you to bed once you arrived, but he also didn’t say that he didn’t want something.
He ran a thumb over your bottom lip. “Well, I won’t lie to you. I want you, but I'm not pushing you. This is the first time you came to me willingly, and I want to cherish it.”
You shivered at his touch. “Yeah, I did come here willingly,” you said. Sort of.
“And how do you feel being here compared to the first time?”
“Better,” you admitted. You weren’t completely terrified this time, and you also felt like you had some control over. Maybe not much, but some.
“Good. Now, shall we?”
You nodded and allowed Bucky to help you settle into the comfort of the pillows. He pulled you close, but it wasn’t as suffocating as it had been before. This felt more gentle. More… right.
It should’ve felt wrong.
The room was so quiet and all you could hear for a minute was the gentle sound of his breathing and his heart beating. “What's your favorite color?” you asked. “I don't think you've told me.”
You weren’t sure if you had taken the time to ask because, well, it hadn’t been a real relationship in your eyes. But you needed to know him. Call it acceptance or ammunition. Maybe both.
“Blue,” he answered, his hand absentmindedly moving along your side.
“And your birthday?”
“March 10th.”
“Wait, you're a Pisces?” you smiled a little. “That explains so much.”
He smiled down at you and chuckled. “Oh, does it now?”
You laughed lightly. “Well, yeah. I mean, you’re just… you know…” He raised an eyebrow and waited for you to finish. “Emotional.”
“I can't argue with that,” he smiled, leaning in a bit. “Does it explain anything else?”
“Well, you're…” You were a little distracted as he kept rubbing your side. “Intense. Passionate. You want to be close to the person you fall for.”
He fit that to a tee.
His darkened eyes made you lose your breath. “I can’t argue with that either,” he whispered, pulling you close without hesitation and fusing your mouths together.
Bucky held you tight and rolled you over so you were on top of him, his hands skimming your thighs as he made you straddle him. A small sound escaped when he brushed against you, your heart pounding in your ears. “Bucky-”
“Stay home with me tomorrow,” he whispered, sitting up with you in his lap still. “We don’t have to go anywhere. We can spend the whole day together.”
“No,” you said firmly. You were going out with your friends and that was final. “Send Ray or someone to watch over me. I’ll be back before you know it.”
“Please?” he asked, thrusting his hips up. “I’ll make it worth your while if you skip.”
Natasha’s words crossed your mind, reminding you that you had power. But a sinking feeling washed over you because that power had to come from your body, right? You shouldn’t be expected to give him sex, but you could give him something to hold him over. Pushing the dread away, you could hate yourself later for it. “You can spend time with me when I get back,” you offered, grinding your hips against his. “I’ll be all yours.”
The sickening feeling you expected when he moaned didn’t come. “You promise?” he murmured.
“Mmhmm,” you hummed, grinding your hips again. “You can even drop me off at Addison’s, and I’ll let you know when I get back to my place. I promise.”
“Okay, Kotyonok,” he groaned, his hands grabbing your waist. Your triumph didn’t last long. “Keep doing that and I’ll pay for all the bottles of wine you want, too.”
“You don’t have to-”
“Let me touch you. Please, just let me make you feel good,” he half begged, half demanding between kissing you again. He truly hungered for you. “I'll make you feel amazing if you just let me touch you.”
You took a deep, shaky breath. How far would he take it if he touched you? No, you had to stay in control. “You are touching me.”
“Let me take you to bed. I'll eat your pussy so good you'll cry.”
You tensed and tried to push yourself up, but he grabbed you and situated you over one of his massive thighs. He had a firm hold on you and it made your heart pound. “I don't want you to be scared. I'll take such good care of you.”
“I just… I’m not…” If he took you to bed, there’d be no turning back, and you had to maintain some control.
“You’re not ready for that,” he stated, his eyes still dark. Shaking your head, it worried you how he’d take it. But he suddenly started moving you over his thigh, hard and slow. “Okay, Kotyonok. I won't put my tongue or fingers in you just yet, but I still want to make you feel good.”
You made a small sound, trying to get your body to relax. You had never ridden anyone’s thigh before and you hadn’t pictured it like this. But the blissful look on his face, he looked like he was in heaven.
“You have no idea how beautiful you are, do you? Especially like this,” he praised.
“I…” you whimpered. “I’m not-”
“Yes, you are,” he growled, tightening his grip. “And you deserve to feel good. My girl deserves whatever she wants.”
Your hands flew to his shoulders when he flexed his thigh, sending an unexpected shock through your entire body. “Oh, my God,” you whispered before you could stop yourself.
“That felt good, right?” he asked, watching you with lidded eyes. “You want me to keep going? Make you come all over my pants?”
You whimpered when he held you still, unsure it was his dirty talk or the slight edging that had you trembling. “Bucky…”
“Tell me, Kotyonok,” he ordered, licking his lips and relaxing back into the blankets and pillows. “Tell me you want me to keep going and I will.”
You looked deep into his eyes. There was so much fire in them and it was burning for you. Your breath caught as he flexed his thigh again and you found yourself nodding. “Please, Bucky. Keep going.”
He shook his head. “That’s not what I said,” he whispered, sliding his tongue along your lips. “Tell me.”
You swallowed hard, your core throbbing. “I want you to keep going,” you breathed.
“That’s my good girl,” he praised, rocking you over his thigh again and sitting up, desperately pressing his lips to your neck. “You'll never have to beg for anything you want. Just ask or tell me and it's yours.”
Your eyes burned with unshed tears as your nails dug into his shoulders, feeling his thigh getting wetter beneath you. “Please…” you whispered, unsure of what exactly you were asking for. Mercy? To be put out of your misery? You could ask for anything except for freedom.
“Still begging when you don't have to.” He chuckled affectionately. “You’re so sweet.”
The pleasure building inside you was bittersweet. Sexual acts were, in your eyes, something to bring you closer together. What would he want next? What would you want next?
“Fucking yourself on my thigh. Wait ‘til you fuck yourself on my cock,” he gruffly spoke, your walls clenching around nothing when he lightly nipped over your pulse. “Just let go if you want. Make a mess for me.”
You were breathless from how close you were. “Do… that again,” you said, unable to let yourself feel embarrassed in the moment.
Bucky nipped your neck again and smiled when you moaned. “Fuck, that’s my beautiful girl. Doing so good for me, telling me what you want,” he said gruffly, dragging you faster along his thigh. “Now I want you to come for me.”
Your mouth fell open when he rocked you faster and bit down once more, hard enough that something inside you snapped. It didn’t just snap, you shattered. You saw stars. You couldn't stop it.
“There you go. Coming just for me,” he smiled, burying his face in your neck. “Fuck, you got my thigh all wet. Just ride it out. Good girl.”
Your face burned and you wanted to hide once you slowed down, but he wouldn’t let you when he lifted his head. He looked so happy, like a cat who got the cream. Your release dripped from your pussy and soaked your pajamas and his pants. You let him get you off.
And breathing hard, you surprised both of you by leaning in and kissing him.
He let out a deep moan, kissing you back with everything he had as he held you closer. You were still shaking from your orgasm, and you could blame that for the reason why you kissed him. And he behaved, not letting his hands wander as his tongue moved with yours.
He kept his mouth close to yours when you pulled back. The orgasm surprisingly helped you relax, but it worried you, too. Had you pushed too far with what you just did? Would he want more? You couldn’t let him in, and you weren’t ready to let yourself fall for him after everything. Not yet.
“Um, thanks,” you said, unsure of what to say to break the tension.
“Thank you,” he smiled.
His smile confused you. “But… you didn’t…” you trailed off. He was hard in his pants, and you hadn’t gotten him off. You selfishly got yourself off on his thigh with his encouragement.
“That doesn't matter,” he assured you, kissing the tip of your nose. “You trusted me enough to make you feel good.”
Your jaw dropped slightly. “But that’s… No. I…” You just wanted a bit of time with your friends, it wasn’t about trust. Was it? How could you trust this man?
He tucked your head under his chin and wrapped one of the blankets around you. “I know you're still a bit scared and you don’t want to trust me, and that’s okay. It’s scary to let someone like me in after everything.”
You shut your eyes to hold back tears. He had scared you from the moment you met, but you wouldn’t say you were completely scared of him right now. Not really. You didn’t know how you felt.
That was what scared you.
“Will someone keep an eye on my place while I’m out tomorrow?” you asked curiously, hoping the question didn't sound weird. You just didn't want Clark snooping around, and you didn't want Bucky worked up if you mentioned him.
“I have safety measures in place,” he replied. “Do you feel safe here?” he asked above a whisper.
“Yes,” you replied. You felt safe and in danger all at once. It was a strange feeling.
“Good,” he whispered. “Hey. Maybe you can spend the night tomorrow, too? We’ll do a movie night.”
“Maybe,” you whispered, your heart finally starting to slow to a steady rate. “And pizza.”
“Pizza and a movie? It’s a date,” he smiled. “We can talk about redecorating the place, too. Make it a real home for us.”
“A real home,” you whispered, knowing full well you were home for Bucky.
He rubbed your back and you noticed how relaxed he was. He was content to just hold you. Like an actual couple. Exactly what he wanted.
And if he noticed a tear streaming down your cheek when you eventually fell asleep in his arms, he thoughtfully kept that to himself.
So, that happened. It could've been... worse? He's wearing his girl down, isn't he? How are things going to be in the morning? Will he leave you be when you're with your friends? Love and thanks for reading! ❤️

part one | part two
Bucky wakes up in an empty bed. When he realizes you aren't in his arms, where you should be, he immediately gets up. He can hear some chatter and laughter from downstairs, so he washes up before getting dressed and heading down.
Entering the kitchen, Bucky sees you surrounded by his frat brothers who are laughing at something you're showing them on your phone. The thought that this looks like a scene straight out of a porno crosses his mind, but Bucky shakes the crass idea away. Damn, I need to stop watching porn.
"Here's the man himself," Steve says with a grin, patting your shoulder.
Bucky raises a brow in question as he walks over, pulling Thor away so he can sit at the counter next to you. "What's going on here?"
"Y/N's showing us pictures of you as a kid," Sam tells him with a proud smirk.
"You are not," Bucky grumbles, narrowing his eyes at you.
With a sweet smile, you link your arm in his. "Good morning, moonlight. Sleep well?"
"What are you showing them, punk?" He asks with a glare, looking down at your phone.
"You look so cute!" You gush with a pout. "I miss when you still had a high-pitched voice. Remember we'd sing that Whitney Houston song and you could hit every note?"
"Absolutely no idea what you're talking about; you must have the wrong guy," He says flippantly, turning your phone off.
"Aw, come on, man," Sam whines. "We were having fun!"
"Play time's over," Bucky tells him curtly, before looking back down at you. "You eaten anything, yet?"
"Nope," You answer him while the others start their own conversation.
"How about I take you out for some breakfast, hmm?" He suggests, patting your thigh. "Pancakes?"
It seems as though he either doesn't remember what happened last night, or he's electing to pretend it didn't happen - or he's planning on talking about it during breakfast. Either way, the sensation of his boner is etched onto your hand and there's no way you'll be able to get through the day as if nothing happened. You almost fucked Bucky, and things have never gotten that heated between you before.
"Uh, yeah, sounds good," You agree with a smile. "Just let me sort out my hair; it's a complete mess."
He looks at your curly locks and grins. "You look cute, sunny."
"Shut it," You mutter with an eye roll, smiling nonetheless. Just before you can ask him if you can use his shower, one of the freshmen bursts into the kitchen.
"Yo, Barnes," He calls out. "Your girlfriend's here. She's asking for you."
Girlfriend?
"What?" Bucky asks him with narrow eyes. "Who?"
"The one with the dimple piercings," The freshman explains. "The hot one."
Bucky grumbles under his breath before excusing himself and leaving the kitchen. You sit there, dumbfounded, trying to figure out what the fuck just happened.
"You don't have to worry about Elexis," Steve assures you while patting your shoulder. "She's not actually his girlfriend. They just... you know."
"Yeah, I get it," You say, feeling sick to your stomach.
"She's probably just here to... you know, say hi," Steve offers, wincing at his own failure to comfort you.
"Yeah, probably," You mutter, twiddling your thumbs. Deciding that you can't sit here stewing in your thoughts, you look up to Steve. "Is it okay if I shower in your room?"
"Of course, be my guest," He replies instantly. "Come on up and I'll show you how to use it."
He leads you past the front door, where Bucky and Elexis are mid-convo. Part of you wants to eavesdrop, but you shut out their voices in case what you hear hurts. Why would it hurt? You've met plenty of Bucky's flings before. Why would this one be any different?
"And, voila," Steve announces, pulling back the shower curtain. After showing you how to control the heat and power, he claps his hands together. "Uh, this is usually the part where I'd leave you, but my bedroom door doesn't have a lock and I don't want any of the guys walking in, so is it alright if I just-"
"You can hang out in your room," You tell him with a smile. "I trust you."
"Muy bien, senorita," He says with a grin, backing out of the en suite. "I'll be right outside if you need me!"
The en suite doesn't have a lock, either, but you do trust Steve and you feel comfortable using his shower while he scrolls through his phone on his bed. The shower is probably a little too warm, but you think nothing of it when the room fills with steam - until you begin to feel lightheaded. Your hangover isn't helping much, and you suddenly feel incredibly dizzy, and weaker than ever.
Stumbling out of the shower, you grab a towel and do your best to get to the door. "Steee," You moan, pulling on the handle. "Steve, I'm gonna pa- oh, God, I'm gonna pass out."
He rushes to the door when he hears you, pulling it open with wide eyes. "What's wrong?"
"Gonna pass out," You slur, your eyes half-shut as your head drops down.
Steve quickly wraps the towel around your body and carries you over to his bed, on which he lays you down. He cracks open the window to let in some fresh air and grabs a water bottle, but you can't sit up to drink it.
You feel so weak you can barely talk, mumbling out to him, "Gonna pass out, Steve."
"You're okay, Y/N, just keep breathing for me," He says firmly, rubbing your forehead.
The sound of the door opening is distant, but you still hear it. After some booming footsteps, you hear Bucky's voice. "The fuck is going on here?"
"She was in the shower and she almost fainted," Steve explains to him. "I don't know wh-
"Sunny, you okay, baby?" Bucky asks you, his voice sounding like it's a thousand miles away.
Your vision blurs and you suddenly feel incredibly ill - and then, as though you're not in control, your upper body lurches up and you vomit onto Steve's bedroom floor.
Almost immediately, you feel much better.
"Oh, God," You whine, falling back onto the pillow. "I'm so sorry, Steve, I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay, Y/N, don't worry about it," He assures you with a smile. "Not like it's carpet. Plus, this floor has already seen it's fair share of vomit. Nothing it can't handle."
"Sun, you okay?" Bucky asks you, sitting down next to you and cupping your cheeks.
"I feel fine, now," You insist, patting his chest. "Remind me to never, ever drink that much again."
The boys chuckle, shaking their heads disapprovingly. "You're in a frat house, baby; don't sound so pathetic," Bucky teases you. "What did you have, like three shots?'
"You made me drink whiskey at the bar!" You whine, pushing him away. "This is all your fault."
"I'm sorry," He coos, rubbing your hip over the damp towel. "I'll make it up to you with some breakfast, yeah?"
Steve begins to clean up the vomit, the tools being right on standby as if he's been preparing for this very moment. You feel bad, but also don't feel like offering to clean it up yourself. Looking back to Bucky, you break out into a wide smile, making him frown.
"What are you all giggly about, huh?" He asks you with an accusatory tone.
"You look just like the picture," You begin. "The Willy Wonka play in ninth grade."
He snorts at the memory, shaking his head. "I cannot believe I let you talk me into doing that."
"Mr. Wonka," You sing teasingly, poking his cheek. "Gimme some chocolate."
"Tell you what," He says, standing up. "How about we let poor Steve have his room back, and we go get you some breakfast?"
"Oh, that's fine," Steve interjects politely while trying to wipe up the last remnants of vomit. "You can lay in my bed as long as you need, honey."
"You'd like that, wouldn't you?" Bucky grumbles with an eye roll before looking back down at you. "Come on, sunshine, up. Breakfast time."
"But I need to finish my shower," You whine, sitting up. "I was in there for, like, five minutes."
"What if you pass out again?" He asks with concern.
"I didn't pass out; I just felt like I was going to," You correct him.
"Still; I don't feel comfortable leaving you in there alone," Bucky argues, helping you up to your feet. "I'll sit in the bathroom with you."
You snort at his words, while Steve raises a brow. "Absolutely not, moony!" You argue. "It's a shower; I'll be naked!"
"What do you take me for?" He asks with offence. "I'm not gonna perv on you, sunshine, it's me. I just don't want you collapsing and splitting your head open on the bathtub."
After arguing some more, you decide to give in and let him chaperone your shower.
He sits sideways on the toilet, facing away from you while reading through the ingredients of Steve's skincare products. Luckily, he uses a lot, which keep Bucky entertained. You watch him with a grin, baffled by the whole situation. Rinsing the soap off your body, you can't help but laugh.
"What is it, huh?" Bucky asks quietly, his eyes on a bottle of witch-hazel toner.
"Nothing," You answer cheekily, before bursting into laughter.
"What?" He presses, looking up at the wall. "Are you laughing at me?"
"No!" You promise, climbing out of the tub and grabbing your towel. "Just the situation."
He chuckles to himself before returning to the toner, waiting for you to dry and clothe yourself.
"Okay, you can look now, moonlight," You announce once the towel is wrapped around your body.
Standing up, Bucky finally looks at you, his eyes slightly widening. "Oh. Nice towel."
"I'll let Steve know you think so," You chirp before smirking at him. "Want me to take it off?"
He snorts before his face drops as you walk closer to him. "At least let me take you on a date, first," He mutters teasingly.
"You've taken me on plenty of dates, Bucky," You say lowly, looking him up and down. The warm bathroom combined with the dangerous look in his eyes is making you spiral.
"That doesn't count," He claims.
"What if my towel accidentally falls off?" You ask innocently.
He swallows thickly at your question. "I'd... pick it back up and put it back on you. Without looking."
"Really?" You wonder. "Not even a glance?"
Smirking, Bucky nods. "I'm not that type of boy, sunshine."
"Prove it," You demand bluntly.
"How?" He asks, frowning.
Without a word, you pull your towel off and drop it onto the floor. Immediately, he clenches his jaw, straining to keep his eyes on yours. Do not look down, Buck. Don't fucking look down.
He silently lowers to the ground, still keeping his stare on your face as he picks up the towel. A shaky breath leaves his mouth as he stands back up, impressively never looking at your body once. He then wraps it back around you and folds the end over your breast, making you shiver.
"Well done," You congratulate him. "Very impressive, James."
Moving closer to you, he cups your face in his hand, stroking your cheek. "Breakfast date. Twenty minutes."
"Oh, really?" You question with a raised brow, trying to hide your excitement.
"Yes," Bucky confirms. "Don't make me wait too long."
"Alright," You grin, watching as he makes his way to the door.
"Oh, and sunny?" He adds, turning back to you.
"Yes?" You respond expectantly.
A smug smirk grows on his lips. "Nice tits."
"James Buchanan Barnes!"
"This is so weird," You mumble while watching Bucky take a huge bite of his pancakes.
He shrugs while chewing, shooting you a frown once he swallows. "What's weird about it, sunshine?"
"We're on a date," You state, leaning forward. "Us. You and I. Bucky and Y/N."
"Sunshine and moonlight," He says with a grin. "United at last."
You roll your eyes. "You're such a cheeseball."
"Eat your food," He orders you, his tone growing stern. "It's getting cold."
Glancing down at the French toast, you can't help but voice what's been nagging at you. "Who was that girl earlier?" You ask him curiously, trying your best to sound casual. "Dimple piercings?"
"Elexis; she was dropping off my charger," He clarifies, before smirking. "Are you jealous? Is this how it's gonna be, now that we're dating?"
Dating. You squeeze your eyes shut and hide your face in your palms. "This is so weird."
Bucky stands up and moves to sit on your side of the booth, wrapping his arm around you. His free hand goes down to stroke your thigh gently, making your breath hitch in your throat. You lower your hands and look at him with wide eyes as he leans forward to mumble, "Don't be nervous, sunny. It's me. It's your Bucky. We're just having some fun."
"That's it?" You ask with a whisper. "Just fun?"
"Yeah," He confirms, rubbing your shoulder. "You're still my best friend. There's no rush. No commitment. No promises. Just fun."
His words put you at ease, as your track record proves that commitment is far from what you're prepared to take on.
"So, why didn't you just have sex with me last night?" You wonder out loud.
He chuckles softly, gently beginning to rub your shoulders. "Because you're still my special sunshine. I'm still gonna look after you, and treat you right. Fun can still be safe."
"I'm always safe with you," You utter.
"I know that, which is why I never want you to feel as though your safety is compromised," He explains. "If anything happened last night... You were drunker than I think I've ever seen you. I couldn't have possibly trusted you to make informed decisions. And I was drunk, too. I want us both to remember the first time I fuck you."
His words make your heart skip a beat. "Yeah?" You ask, fiddling with the drawstrings of his hoodie.
With dark eyes, Bucky leans forward. "Trust me, baby. You'll wanna remember it."
"So, let's go home," You suggest, not caring how desperate you sound.
He snorts, shaking his head. "You horny little fucker."
"What do you expect when you say shit like that?" You ask him incredulously. "Come on, moonlight. Take me home."
"I'm not rushing this with you," He says adamantly, stroking your cheek. "Let's take our time, baby. I wanna have fun with you."
Narrowing your eyes, you sigh. "You're such a fuckin' tease."
He laughs heartily, kissing the side of your forehead. "Oh, this is gonna be amazing."
"Come on, senorita," Steve sings, pulling on your arm. "Not even just a shot?"
"I'm still hungover from last night!" You complain, hitting his shoulder. "How the fuck do you frat guys do this shit back to back?"
"A little hair of the dog; it'll cure ya," He claims, teasingly waving the shot of tequila in your face. "Don't be a wuss. You're in a frat house; refusing a shot that was specifically poured for you is grounds for the death penalty."
With a groan, you give in. "Oh, what the hell?" You mutter with a shrug, taking the tiny plastic shot glass and emptying its contents into your throat.
"Atta girl!" Steve cheers as the others dance and drink.
Tonight isn't as busy as last night, with just the house members and a few others in attendance. You're wearing one of Bucky's worn band tees paired with cycling shorts and a black corset belt which is accentuating your figure.
"Hey, sexy," Bucky calls out from where he's slumped down on the couch. He holds out his hand towards you when you look over at him. "C'mere."
Throwing the tiny shot glass to the side, you leave Steve at the drinks table and saunter over to Bucky, climbing onto his lap with your legs on either side of him.
"Oh," He utters in surprise, his hands immediately going to your hips. "Hey, there."
"Hi," You respond innocently, resting your hands on his chest. "Enjoying yourself?"
"I am now," He says with a smirk, stroking your waist. "You look really fuckin' hot in my shirt."
"Thanks, moonlight," You reply, playing with his hair gently. "It's comfy. Smells of you."
Suddenly, Steve collapses on the couch next to you, frowning. "What's going on here, huh?" He interrogates you both. "One minute you're just friends, now you're getting all... not friendly?"
"What are you talking about, Steve?" You ask him, feigning confusion as you snuggle closer into Bucky's chest. "We're still friendly."
"You know what I mean," He huffs. "You're sitting on his lap."
"So? Bucky's my best friend," You tell him. "I've been sitting on his lap all my life." Bucky can't help but laugh, but you keep the confused, innocent look on your face.
"So, you guys aren't being weird with each other?" Steve questions you with a raised brow.
Bucky begins placing sloppy kisses on your neck, sucking and biting at your sensitive skin while you do your best to keep your composure. "Not weird at all, Steve," You say nonchalantly. "We're- we've always been like this."
He's utterly gobsmacked at the sight, moving further away when he sees Bucky's hand slip in between your thighs. "Ay dios mio," Steve mumbles under his breath, his eyes wide.
"Bucky and I are gonna fuck tonight," You tell him proudly.
"No, we're not," Bucky corrects you sternly, retracting his hand from your inner thigh.
You pout, gripping your shirt. "Don't be mean!"
"I'm free tonight," Steve interjects with a hopeful look on his face. "And I'm much more fun in bed."
"Fuck outta here, Rog," Bucky grumbles with an eye-roll.
"Oh, really?" You ask Steve coyly. "What makes you so fun?"
"Sunny," Bucky utters with a warning tone.
Steve licks his lips, most definitely drunk out of his mind as he smirks. "My big dick."
"Alright, that's enough of you," Bucky states bluntly, standing up with your legs around his waist. Ignoring your protests, he walks you out onto the porch and sits on the big chair, holding you close to his chest.
The breeze hits your skin, making you shiver as you pull back to look at him. "Buck?"
"Yes, sunshine?" He responds, stroking your goosebump-covered thighs.
"There- there can't be anyone else," You tell him. "If we're really gonna do this. No other girls."
He pulls back, frowning. "Do you really think you even have to say that?"
"I just- I know it isn't normal to be exclusive this early on, but I think I'll die if you even talk to anyone else," You admit, pulling on his shirt.
"Nothing about this is normal," He whispers back with a small smile. "Now that you've finally given me a chance, you think I'd ever do anything to screw it up?"
"What do you mean, finally?" You ask him with a frown.
Sighing, he takes your hand in his. "I've been waiting for this for a long time, sunshine. Waiting for you."
"Really?" You question him, taken aback. "Why didn't you say anything?"
A small smile grows on his lips. "Because, I'm a patient man. It's been nice, slowly gravitating towards each other. Like planets orbiting the sun. They don't know why they're doing it; they just do. You've been waiting for me, too, even if you didn't realize it."
"Hmm," You bring up a hand to stroke his cheek. "A patient man, indeed. You haven't even kissed me yet."
"That's right. I haven't," He says, almost sounding shocked at himself as he smirks at you. "I should fix that, huh, baby?"
Feeling your heart race, you nod. "You really, really should."
With a soft chuckle, he sits back. "C'mere, pretty girl."
"Come here yourself," You retort immaturely, leaning back.
Bucky rolls his eyes and grabs your face in his big hands, pulling you closer. "Shut the fuck up, dumbass," He mumbles under his breath before pressing his lips to yours.
You wrap your arms around his shoulder and part your lips, allowing him to slip his tongue into your mouth. His left hand moves down to grab your ass, his right lowering to your throat. In this moment, you feel closer to him than ever, both nervous and completely comfortable.
After a few sweet moments, he pulls away, his eyes alight with desire and delight. Stroking your cheek, Bucky scans your face. "You're beautiful. I ever tell you that?"
Shrugging, you look down and play with his belt buckle. "Maybe. Coupla times," You mumble, leaning down to rest your head against his chest.
He places a soft kiss to the top of your head, stroking your hair. "You are. The most beautifu-"
"Don't finish that sentence, fuckboy," You cut him off coldly, your voice muffled against his shirt.
Snorting, he wraps his arms around you and tightens them. "But I mean it, sunshine; you're so beautiful. I can't get over it."
"Stop."
"You're gorgeous."
"Enough."
"So fuckin' sexy."
"...Continue."
Chuckling, he lifts up your chin and gives you a smile. "You're everything, baby. You're everything to me."
"One more cheesy line and this is over, moonlight," You warn him with a pointed finger.
He smirks, raising a brow. "There ain't no over, sunshine. You're mine, forever."
"Forever?" You ask with a grimace. "That's a pretty big commitment."
"And you're a pretty big dumbass," He responds, smiling up at you. "But it's okay. I still love you."
Your eyes widen. "You can't say that."
"What? Why not?" He asks with a frown. "We've been saying it since we were kids."
"But that was before," You say, pulling at his shirt nervously. "Things are different now. Love means a different thing."
"Well, I mean it in all its different possible iterations," He claims boldly. "I love you, sunshine."
Looking up to meet his eyes, you purse your lips. "What happened to taking it slow, huh?"
He grins, shaking his head. "That's just the sex stuff. I can't take loving you slowly; it's a little late for that one."
"Bucky," You whine lowly, doing your best to hide your smile. "I guess, me too."
Raising a brow, he grabs your cheeks in his hand. "Excuse me?"
"I said, me too," You repeat with a laugh.
Bucky narrows his eyes. "Say it properly, right now."
"Or, what?" You shoot.
"Or..." He begins gravely. "I'll never kiss you again."
"Never?" You repeat with playful shock.
"Ever," He confirms. "Not until you say it."
Smiling, you rest your hands on his shoulders. "Bucky?"
"Yes, sunshine?" He utters with anticipation.
You lean in and lower your voice, feeling your cheeks heat up as though you're a teenager with her crush. "I love you."
A wide grin breaks out across his lips and he pulls you in tighter, kissing your forehead. "Forever?"
Sighing with content, you close your eyes. "Forever."

a few weeks have passed and you're visiting bucky in l.a. who knew college life could be fun?

"This is my favorite part," Bucky whispers, leaning closer to you. "Just watch how they kiss. It's so... intense."
You smirk, looking over at him. "Perv."
"Not like that," He insists with an eye-roll. "I mean, you can just feel how much they love each other." Suddenly, the living room door swings open and Bucky clears his throat. "And, uh, Julia Roberts is super fuckin' hot."
Looking over your shoulder, you see Steve walk in with wide eyes. "Shit, Buck, I didn't know you had a girl over - I'll fuck off, now," He says, holding his hands up in surrender.
"No, Steve, come here," Bucky calls out, sitting up. "Want you to meet someone."
"Uh-oh. Dont tell me the infamous Bucky Barnes has actually got himself a girlfriend," Steve teases him with a mumble, walking further in.
"Of course not," Bucky scoffs. "Y/N's here."
Steve's eyes light up as he looks at you, recognition hitting him. "Oh, shit! Hey!"
"Hi!" You exclaim, getting up to your feet and pulling him in for a hug. "It's so great to finally meet you in real life!"
"And you!" He replies, embracing you tightly. "Bucky totally undersold you."
"What do you mean?" You ask, pulling back with a confused laugh.
"Watch it, Steve," Bucky grumbles, standing up behind you.
"I mean, he failed to tell me how gorgeous you are," Steve says, looking you up and down. "Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Alright, that's enough," Bucky intervenes, pulling you away from Steve and glaring at him. "What about 'off-limits' do you not understand?"
Steve takes your hand and kisses the back of it, completely ignoring Bucky's glare. "Tienes una sonrisa muy bonita," He says with a sultry voice, making your cheeks heat up.
"Oh, fuck me," Bucky mutters bitterly.
"What does that mean?" You ask the handsome blond, undeniably loving the attention.
"It means you have a beautiful smile," Steve tells you with a wink.
"He's been using Duolingo for three weeks," Bucky says, rolling his eyes. "All of a sudden he's a Spanish Romeo."
"Your words, Buck, not mine," Steve grins, releasing your hand and looking back down at you. "You coming to the party tonight?"
"Actually, I'm taking Y/N out," Bucky announces, wrapping his arm around your shoulders.
"You are?" You ask him with a raised brow.
"I am," He confirms, lightly nudging your hip with his. "There's this gorgeous bar I have to take you to; you'll love it."
"Well, what time will you be back?" Steve questions him. "The party is gonna be here, so you can't exactly avoid it."
Bucky groans, before bringing his lips to your ear and loudly whispering, "We'll stay at a hotel."
"Absolutely not!" Steve exclaims, punching Bucky's arm. "It's gonna be fun, man, and it gives you a chance to show Y/N off to everyone."
"I don't wanna show her off," Bucky grumbles bitterly.
"I don't mind being shown off," You tease him, nudging his abs. "It'll be fun, moonlight."
"Yeah, moonlight, it'll be fun," Steve says with a smirk.
With an exasperated sigh, Bucky glares you down. "You're lucky I love you."
"Two Pornstar Martinis for the lovely young couple," The middle-aged waiter says sweetly as he places the cocktails down in front of you. Neither of you bother to correct him; you've been mistakenly labeled as a couple too many times to even be fazed by it anymore.
"Thank you so much," You sing as he waltzes away, grinning with excitement.
"So predictable," Bucky sighs, glancing down at the drinks. "I'm ordering the next ones."
"As long as they're actually drinkable," You say jokingly, pulling your drink closer to you.
His face drops as he leans forward. "Whiskey. Neat."
"No!" You cry between laughs. "You can't do that to me, Buck!"
He laughs along, clinking his glass against yours. "After the fruity drinks you've been drowning me in, I think I deserve it."
You take a long sip of the drink and take his hand in yours, smiling warmly at him. "Thanks for letting me come visit you, Buck."
"Are you kidding me?" He asks with a look of bafflement. "Thank you for coming up here, sunshine. I've been going crazy without you, you know that?"
"Not as crazy as I've been," You admit with a sigh.
His face softens and he strokes the back of your hand. "How are things in Virginia?"
You shrug, "Better than before."
"Made any new friends?" Bucky asks you cautiously.
A long sigh leaves your mouth as you plaster on a look of disregard. "You know what? I realized that I don't need new friends-"
"Y/N-"
"In fact; I have a lot of time to study," You chirp. "I'm already two weeks ahead."
He narrows his eyes at you. "Sunshine, we're freshmen; we shouldn't be caught up with work at all, let alone two weeks ahead!"
"It's fine," You insist. "It's a little boring, but I'm fine."
Bucky scans your face, concern growing in his eyes. "It isn't too late to start over. Enroll somewhere else."
"I don't know; I wouldn't even know where to go," You admit lowly. "And there's no way I'm going back home."
"What about L.A.?" He asks you with a mumble.
You raise a brow, taken aback by his suggestion. "Uh, what?"
"Move here," He suggests, leaning forward. "Come to UCLA. Or USC. Or even Stanford; at least we'll be in the same state. At least you'll have me."
"Stanford?" You repeat with an incredulous scoff. "I'd have a better chance at becoming President than getting into Stanford."
He glances around and you can practically see the cogs turning in his head as he tries to figure out this conundrum.
"Moonlight, it's fine," You promise him. "Don't worry about me. I'm a grown woman."
"I just want you near me," He admits with a small voice, playing with your fingers. "I don't like it when you're far away. Makes me nervous."
You pout at him. "I know, Buck. Me too."
He sits up with bright eyes. "How about Oregon? It's not California, but you'll still be close-"
"Bucky, stop," You order him firmly. "My whole life, I've had an easy ride. Know why?"
Frowning, he shakes his head.
You lean closer and smile. "Because James Buchanan Barnes has always been my best friend. He always got me invited to all the parties, looked out for me, and completely spoiled me. Now, I have to learn to live without him."
A look of utter offence hits his face as he tightens his grip on your hand. "Hey!"
"Not completely without him," You quickly backtrack. "But without depending on you as much as I do."
Bucky hums, his eyes softening. "But I like when you depend on me."
You laugh softly at his words, patting the back of his hand. "I know you do, Buck, but it's time for me to grow up. I'm my own person. I'm gonna make Virginia work for me."
He sighs, but you know he's given in. "I need some whiskey, stat."
The party's in full swing by the time you get home, and both you and Bucky are already drunk. After introducing you to everyone, he's pulled to the side by Steve, who's been itching to ask him something all day.
"Why aren't you and Y/N dating?" He asks Bucky with a frown. "I mean, how have you controlled yourself for so long? Have you seen her?"
Bucky, dazed and taken by surprise, just shrugs. "She's my best friend. Anything else would be weird... right?"
Steve raises a brow. "Are you telling me it'll be weird, or asking me?"
"I don't know," Bucky admits, staring at you as you dance with a few of the girls. "Y/N's my best friend."
"And you've never so much as had a crush on her?" Steve asks in disbelief.
"Of course I have," Bucky replies instantly. "I've always had a little something for her; a little soft spot. She's my sunshine."
"What stops you from making a move?" Steve questions him.
Thinking it over, Bucky lets out a sigh. "I don't need to make a move. I like what we have. It's fun, and safe. We're just running around, enjoying life together."
"And if she gets a boyfriend?" Steve hypothesises.
"She wouldn't," Bucky insists. "Just like how I wouldn't get a girlfriend. We wouldn't do that to each other."
"But you don't owe each other anything," Steve says, growing frustrated. "You're only friends, right?"
Bucky looks over at him, drunken confusion on his face. "Special friends."
"Special friends?" Steve replies with a snort.
"Mhm," Bucky nods, pointing at you with his beer. "That girl there is mine. I don't have to be her boyfriend for us to know that. She knows she's mine, deep down."
"Oh, yeah?" Steve challenges him with a smirk. "So, if I go over there and shoot my shot, she'll reject me?"
Laughing heartily, Bucky nods. "Be my guest, Rogers, please. I'd love to watch you get taken down a peg."
Ever the over-confident showman, Steve arrogantly strides over to you, putting on his most charming smile.
You smell him before you see him- and boy, does he smell good. He places a hand on the small of your back, subtly letting the other guys know that he's gonna be the one taking you upstairs tonight.
"Enjoying yourself, senorita?" Steve asks you lowly, stroking your back.
Smiling, you nod up at him. "I am! Your friends are so nice."
Leaning closer, he places his hands on your hips. "Wanna dance?" He asks you, his hands moving dangerously lower.
Instantly, you feel bad for perhaps not making it clear enough earlier that you aren't interested in him- sure, he's cute, but he's Bucky's friend. There's no way you'd ever go there.
"Uh, actually, I'm okay," You say, gently removing his hands from you'd body. Looking around, you find yourself anxiously searching the crowd for Bucky. You don't know Steve that well yet, and you aren't sure what kind of man he is - who knows how he'd react to being rejected?
"Oh, that's okay," Steve says, clearly having had his ego hurt. "I'll, uh... I'll just-"
"Hey, sunshine," Bucky's beautiful voice calls out from behind you, making you practically jump with excitement.
Twirling around, you pull him in for a hug, and he lifts you off the ground for a few seconds in his embrace before putting you back down.
"Everything okay here?" He asks, moving some tendrils of hair out of your face. "Steve isn't bothering you, is he?"
While you turn back to face the blond, assuring them both that he most definitely isn't bothering you, Bucky shoots Steve a wink as if to say, I told you so.
"Listen, sunny," Bucky begins, patting your hips. "Wanna dance?"
Your eyes light up at his suggestion and you immediately agree, pulling him further into the crowd while Steve attempts to recover from that fatal blow by distracting himself with another girl.
"I love this song!" You exclaim, pressing your back to Bucky's front. His hands hold your waist as you grind on him, the alcohol doing its job in depleting your inhibitions. Your ass whines against Bucky's crotch to the beat, making him bite down on his lip as he feels himself harden.
"Fuck, sunshine," He mutters into your ear. "Keep dancing, just like that. Good girl."
A few whimpers leave your mouth as you feel his boner dig into your ass, making your heart race. Fuck. This feels way too good. When his hand slips down the front of your thigh, brushing against your mound, your breath hitches in your throat.
You turn back to face him and wrap your arms around his shoulders, standing on your tip toes to whisper into his ear. "I'm tired. Take me to bed, Buck."
"Yeah, bed. Bed. Let me take you upstairs, baby," He stumbles over his words his mind racing with the dirtiest thoughts as he takes your hand tightly in his and leads you through the crowd and up the stairs.
Not a word is shared between you when he walks you into his bedroom, the tension thick and heavy. The second he shuts his door, you lock it, giving him a sly smile while doing so.
"What're you locking the door for, sun?" He asks with a smirk, leaning against the wall.
"Don't want anyone to walk in and see," You reply bashfully.
He remains against the wall, looking you up and down. "See what?"
Biting your lip, you step closer to him, feeling a physical pull to him stronger than ever before. Glancing down, you place your hand on his boner, rubbing his gently through his jeans.
Bucky throws his head back, letting out a soft groan at your touch. God, he wants you so bad. But then, sharp realization hits him. This isn't right.
"Wait, hold on," He says suddenly, removing your hand from him. "Y/N, we can't."
Utterly taken aback and mortified at his rejection, you stumble backwards. "Wha- you don't want me?"
"You're too special to me," He insists with furrowed brows, exercising the most will-power he's ever had to. "I'm not just gonna treat you like some one night stand. You're my best friend and I love you, so we can't. Not like this. Not when we're both drunk at some shitty party."
Unable to see past his rejection in your drunken state, you say nothing and unlock the door, feeling like a fool.
"You don't have to leave," Bucky says softly, placing his hand on your arm. "You can still sleep here with me."
Rubbing your cheek, you shake your head. "I jus' wanna go back to the party," You mumble before rushing out of his room and back downstairs.
Steve watches you reenter the party, confused. He saw you and Bucky leaving together earlier and was hoping you'd finally stop kidding yourselves about being just friends. He observes you as you make a beeline straight to the kitchen, where you proceed to pour yourself a shot.
"You okay?" He asks you softly, watching as you wince at the vodka going down your throat.
With a sniffle, you look up at him. "Would you fuck me?" You ask him curiously.
Taken aback, Steve tilts his head. "Huh?"
"If I threw myself at you," You explain. "Would you wanna sleep with me?"
"In any other circumstance, absolutely," He admits with a shrug.
You stare at the empty shot glass for a few moments, watching the droplets fall down the side.
"Did Bucky kick you out of his room?" Steve questions you with a frown.
"No, I left," You tell him, your face dropping. "After he rejected me."
Steve lets out a breathy laugh. "Well, considering how drunk you are, I'm not surprised. He's a good guy."
"He's drunk, too!" You argue bitterly. "It wouldn't even matter."
"Exactly," He says firmly. "You think he wants the first time you guys have sex to not matter?"
"It would matter in that way," You mutter sheepishly, looking down.
"No, you'd forget most of it when you wake up, and horribly regret it, and things would be awkward," Steve tells you sternly. "Is that what you want?"
Cringing inwardly, you pull on the hem of your dress. "I feel so stupid."
"You're not stupid," He insists softly, rubbing your shoulder. "Bucky loves you no matter what." Steve squeezes you in a tight hug, and you feel a wave of dizziness.
"I'm so drunk," You slur, barely able to see straight. "Too drunk."
You feel a pair of arms pull you from Steve and some mumbled chatter before you're gently lifted up and carried back upstairs. You should probably be more concerned, but you're too far gone to have the energy right now.
When you feel your head hit a soft pillow, you let out a sigh of relief - but then you feel someone trying to take off your shoes, making you tense up.
"Stop," You mumble, curling your toes reflexively. "Don't touch me."
The stranger chuckles before saying something you can barely understand. Beneath you, the mattress feels like it's floating on the ocean, the entire room spinning. Suddenly, you feel the zip on the side of your dress being pulled down, making you gasp.
"No!" You exclaim, hitting out at the perpetrator. "I have a boyfriend and he'll kill you."
"Oh, yeah?" The stranger asks you as he changes you into a softer t-shirt. "And what's this idiot's name?"
"He's not an idiot, and you-" Suddenly, his face is close to yours, and you immediately recognize his pretty blues. "Bucky! I'm so happy to see you!"
"Me too, sunshine," He replies softly, kissing the tip of your nose as he climbs into bed beside you.
"I missed you so much," You whine, clinging to his arm. "I'm so happy you're here."
"I'm happy you're here, too," Bucky replies sweetly, stroking your cheek. "Did you have a good night?"
"I think so, but I drank too much," You admit sheepishly.
"Yeah, me too," He replies, his bright eyes gazing into yours. "Can you give me a kiss on the cheek?"
Your heart bursts at his childlike request, and you instantly comply. Moving closer, you place a soft kiss above his stubble, smiling up at him afterwards.
"You're the best, sunny," Bucky says warmly, wrapping his arm around you. "I love you more than everything."
"I love you, moony," You respond, rubbing his chin. "You're the best."
"No, you are," He argues.
"No, you!" You fight back childishly.
He glares at you before his face softens and he lets out a hum. "How about we accept that we're each other's best?"
His words make you grin widely. "You're my best, moonlight."
Leaning closer, Bucky kisses the corner of your mouth. "And you're my best, sunshine."

two thousand, five hundred and sixty-nine
you and bucky have been best friends since you were kids, but ended up going to colleges thousands of miles apart. your student experience begins terribly, but bucky is having the time of his life - you can't let him know the truth. because if he did, you know he'd drop everything to come and save you.
content warning: frat!bucky x best friend!reader, idiots in love, angst, shitty friends, crying, reader has an older sister, slut shaming, fluff, soft!bucky, hurt/comfort.
"Hey, sunshine!"
You smile widely at the sight of Bucky's face on your phone, your heart immediately warming. "Hey, moonlight."
He's walking around his frat house, his eyes bright and his teeth on show as grins at you. "How's it going? You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm good," You lie, nestling against your pillow. "How about you?"
"I'm great," He answers, a frown growing on his face. "You still in bed?"
A laugh leaves your mouth as you shrug. "You know; student life. I was out late last night."
"Ahh, I see," Bucky says with a smirk. "So, how's Virginia Tech? Everything you ever dreamed about?"
"And more," You insist, sitting up. "It's great. How's UCLA?"
"Incredible," He replies instantly, entering the kitchen. "I didn't think I'd enjoy L.A as much as I am. You have got to come visit me one day."
"Oh, for sure," You promise.
Another voice off camera steals Bucky's attention before an unfamiliar face pops onto the screen. "Hey!" The blonde greets. "This must be the famous Y/N?"
"The one and only," You confirm with a laugh. "And you are?"
He gasps, dramatically placing his hand on his chest. "I can't believe he hasn't mentioned me to you yet. I'm Steve; Bucky's best friend when he isn't talking to you."
Bucky rolls his eyes, smiling nonetheless. "Alright, see you later, bud," He says before walking out of the kitchen and to his bedroom. He already gave you a tour of the house the day he moved in, so he jogs up the stairs while talking about the basketball practice he has later.
"I see you finally put the LED lights up," You comment when he enters his room.
"I did!" He says excitedly, flipping the camera to show you them. "You know how incredible sex is with these on?"
You snort, rolling your eyes. "Idiot."
I'm being serious: you've got to invest," He says gravely, turning the camera back onto him. "Maybe you and lover-boy can have some fun."
His words make you frown. "Lover-boy?"
"That guy you made out with on Saturday?" He asks, raising a brow. "You know, the one you met at the party?"
"I told you about that?" You ask, shocked at yourself.
"Of course you did," Bucky laughs. "You called me seconds after it happened."
"Oh, yeah," You mumble as the memory resurfaces. "He's definitely not my lover-boy."
"Why not?" He asks you with concern. "He do something wrong?"
"Nothing like that; I just haven't seen him again since that night," You say with a shrug. "Didn't get his number."
"Well, I'm sure you'll be drowning in dick by the end of the week," He jokes with a wink. "But no boyfriends, okay?"
"Why not?" You question him.
"Too much drama," He answers plainly. "The fuck am I supposed to do if someone breaks your heart and I'm two thousand miles away? As much as I'd like to think I can, I can't break someone's legs from that distance."
"I think you could," You say with a smile. "But, don't worry. I will remain single as long as possible."
"Good girl," Bucky grins, giving you a thumbs up.
"So, you're enjoying yourself?" You ask him, wanting to change the subject.
"It is incredible here, sunshine," He says with a grin. "The guys are hilarious. You'd love them."
"If you do, I'm sure I would," You agree sweetly.
Suddenly, he pouts and lies back on his bed. "I miss you."
Your heart breaks and you squeeze your eyes shut. "Don't, Buck, because I will cry."
"I'm sorry. I just miss you so bad," He whines, rubbing his forehead.
"It's so weird being here without you," You say, frowning. "I want you to be here."
"I want you to be here," He counters. "As much fun as I'm having, it feels like there's something missing."
You sniffle, shaking your head. "Okay, stop being sappy. Come on. We'll be fine."
"When will I see you next?" He asks with puppy-dog eyes.
"I don't know, moonlight," You say softly. "But we have to schedule something soon."
"For sure," He agrees, sitting up.
"Alright, I'll let you go prepare for basketball, now," You say, putting on a brave face. "Have fun, okay?"
"I will," Bucky replies, slightly frowning. "I love you, sunshine."
You grab a fistful of your blanket in an effort to stop the tears from falling. "I love you more, moonlight."
"See you soon," He promises.
"Bye," You whisper before quickly hanging up so he doesn't see you burst into tears.
The sobs rack through your body as you shake, hugging your knees to your chest. You didn't think college would be this lonely, but after the week you've had, you feel lower than ever.
With a shaky hand, you FaceTime your sister, needing her guidance.
"Hello?" She answers after three rings.
"Pia, help," You cry. "I hate college. And college hates me."
"Oh, my God, what happened?" She asks, her face filled with concern.
"It's my roommates," You say, lowering your voice just in case they walk past your room. "You know how I told you about that guy I made out with on the first night?"
"Yeah," Pia says, frowning. "What about him?"
"Turns out, he's one of my roommates' ex," You reveal. "They told me about him before, but how was I supposed to know that the white guy with brown hair I was talking to was the same white guy with brown hair that was her ex?"
"Oh, no," Pia mumbles. "Well, that wasn't your fault."
"They don't seem to think so," You mutter. "They screamed at me the morning after, and now they're giving me the silent treatment."
"Then they're incredibly immature," She says with a frown. "And bitchy as hell."
"I can't even go into the kitchen because they're always there," You complain, rubbing your forehead.
"How do you eat?" She asks you with furrowed brows. "You need to eat, Y/N!"
"I am; I have snacks in my room," You promise her. "And I go and cook at night, when they're gone."
"You shouldn't have to live like that in your own apartment," She says sternly.
"It's too awkward to be in the same room as them; I hate it," You whine. "They whisper and I know they're talking about me. It's fine, it's just annoying. And I haven't even made any friends on my course yet, and just- college is really not for me."
"Have you told Bucky?" Pia questions you.
"No, I can't," You insist with a sigh. "He's literally having the best time ever at UCLA. He's got new friends and a healthy sex life and he's obviously doing great in every single class. I don't want to kill his vibe and make him worry about me. You know what he's like; the second he finds out something's wrong, he'll get on the next flight to Virginia."
Pia lets out a long sigh, shaking her head. "You can't live like this."
"It's fine," You say firmly. "There's just a bit of awkwardness with my roommates, and once everyone calms down, it'll be fine. I'll be fine."
"You sure?" She asks you with a raised brow.
You nod, plastering on a fake smile. "I'm sure, P."
"Ugh, here she comes," Freya mutters under her breath when you enter the kitchen.
You inwardly sigh, regretting coming in. It's been a full week since you kissed her ex, and the worst part is that he wasn't even that good of a kisser.
Something propels you to speak up. You're sick of their bitter comments. "Are we really gonna be like this for the rest of the year?" You ask, taking the three of them by surprise.
Clarity raises a brow. "Excuse you?"
You roll your eyes. "I'm sick of you guys being so immature. Yes, I kissed him- big fucking deal! He's Freya's ex, not her boyfriend."
"You still broke the code," Freya says with a glare, slowly walking over to you. "Do you know how much it hurt me to see that?"
Feeling bad, you glance down. "I'm sorry that it hurt you, but it wasn't my fault-"
"Who else's was it?" She suddenly yells. "You fucking slut; you probably sought him out on purpose just to spite me!"
"Why would I do that?" You ask her incredulously.
"Because you're jealous of her, maybe?" Sandra pipes up, holding back her smirk in an effort to hide how hard she's getting off on this.
"You should speak to reception about changing floors," Freya suggests arrogantly. "Because I do not want you living here anymore. The girls agree with me: we want you gone by tonight."
Without saying a word, you spin on your heels and storm out of the kitchen and back into your bedroom where you quickly begin packing up all your shit.
Fuck them. You're glad to be leaving. Nothing could be worse than living with them.
Three days after the girls kick you out, you realize that things could be absolutely worse than living with them.
Because you needed accommodation right away, you were put in a dingy dorm apartment with four guys. They don't clean up after themselves in the kitchen, they play loud music until 4am, and frankly, they terrify you.
It's horrible.
You almost want to drop out of college altogether, but you can't disappoint your family like that. You've sent a text message to Pia explaining the situation, though you left out the part about the scary roommates because you don't want her to be concerned. As far as she knows, you've been moved into a dorm with a few messy students and nothing more.
How did life get like this?
With college absolutely kicking your ass, you break down. You're on your way home from the library with tears streaming down your face, wondering what you did to deserve this. You don't even want to go back to your apartment; it's probably safer to just walk around campus all night.
When you get to your apartment building, you look down to pull out your keys when you suddenly feel an hand on your shoulder.
Oh, God. This is it. You're dying tonight.
"Hey, sunshine," His familiar voice rings out.
Your eyes widen and you gasp, turning to face him. "Bucky?" The sight of him almost makes you burst into tears then and there.
He grins widely, pulling you in for a tight hug. "Hey, cutie."
Unable to hold back, you sob into his shoulder, holding him as though you're afraid he'll run off. You don't know why or how he's here, but it doesn't matter because he's fucking here. "Oh, my God," You cry through uneven, heavy breaths. "I can't believe you're here right now. What the fuck?"
"I'm here, baby, I'm here," Bucky coos, rocking you gently from side to side. "I'm here."
Hicupping, you catch your breath and pull back, looking up at him. "What are you doing here, Buck?"
He cups your face, wiping away your tears with his thumbs. A look of concern fills his features and he frowns. "I spoke to Pia."
"That little shit," You curse, grabbing fistfuls of his hoodie. "I told her not to tell you."
"And why didn't you tell me?" He asks you sternly. "Why didn't you tell me, Y/N?"
"I couldn't," You insist, shaking your head. "You were having fun in L.A. and I didn't wanna ruin that. I just needed to sort my shit out-"
"And now you're living with a bunch of guys?" He questions you with that angry look on his face you haven't seen in so long. "I spoke to the receptionist-"
"Isn't that information confidential?" You wonder out loud, rubbing your eyes.
"Not when you're as handsome as me," He says with a shrug, before his face drops again. "Seriously though, Y/N. I can't believe you didn't tell me."
"It's fine," You whisper, not even believing it yourself.
"Come here," Bucky mumbles, pulling you back into his chest. "I'm your best friend. I'm the one you tell everything. I'm the one who saves you."
"Why would you come all this way?" You whine, feeling guilty.
"To save you," He says with a cocky smirk, pulling back and looking down at you. "I'm moving you to a new building."
"Bucky, no," You shake your head. "I literally just moved; I can't go through that process again."
"You won't be alone this time," He promises you. "I pulled a few strings. You know Steve?"
"From your frat?" You ask with a raised brow.
"That's the one. His mom owns a ton of property here," Bucky tells you. "She agreed to let you lease out an apartment for a fraction of the price."
"Bucky, what?" You question him, gobsmacked.
"I'm gonna help you move your things," He goes on to say. "No more shitty student dorms for you. My best girl deserves luxury, alright?"
You're in disbelief, wondering if this a dream and really hoping it isn't. "You're insane," You breathe out, clutching onto his arm. "I mean, seriously. You flew out how many miles for me?"
"Two thousand, five hundred and sixty-nine," He answers you proudly. "And it's worth every mile to make you happy."
"You're an angel," You mumble, cupping his face. "You cannot be a real human."
"Maybe I am," Bucky shrugs, leaning down to kiss your cheek. "I love you, sunshine. I'd fly a million miles to keep you safe, you know that. You mean more to me than anything."
You pout, feeling bad that he came all this way for you. "Are you missing classes?"
"Yep," He replies. "But, somehow, the world continues to turn."
"I love you, too," You say, smiling up at him. "I don't know what I did to deserve you."
"You're the bestest, prettiest, most incredible person a guy could ask for," Bucky responds sweetly, wrapping his arms around your waist. "Did I mention prettiest?"
"No, you're the prettiest," You reply childishly.
"No, you," He insists, kissing your nose. "Now, come on. I'm gonna help you move your stuff, and then we're ordering pizza because I am starving."
Bucky takes your hand and pulls you into the building while your heart swells with love for him. What would you ever do without him?

bucky. on. his. knees.
i need y'all to sit and think about that with me for a quick second okay. This man, in FULL tactical mission gear (weapons still strapped to his thighs and slung across his back), kneeling before you with his head buried between your thighs in the middle of the quinjet, his patience had been growing thin for days as the training mission wore on and on and on, his need for you however had only built and built until his blood simmered with unchecked heat, his skin slick with sweat as desire boiled over in a mess of huffed breaths and muffled moans as he came to the thought of you over and over again. Its not as if you hadn't noticed his lingering touches, the longing glances, his not so subtle hints at just how much he was going to ruin you as soon as you went home but days four and five and six begin to roll around, the tether holding Bucky's sanity snapped.
"Up. Now." Bucky's gruff voice commands as you feel his fingers tap the outside of your clothed thigh.
You lift your head, gaze still locked on the red dots of your team mates in the screen before you, and question him with a soft hum. Steve’s dot blinked as he crossed paths with Nat, her accurate aim lighting up his tactical vest with a hit.
“Come on. Get Up” he instructs again, a little firmer this time, fingers digging into your thigh.
“What- Buck, what is it?” You finally glance at your partner who is looking suspiciously flustered. “You okay?”
“Just get up and take your pants off.”
“James-“ you begin to chastise him but are cut off as your chair spins around, Bucky kneeling before you as his hands begin to work open the buttons at your waist.
“Please sweetheart, i’m going crazy. Just lemme eat-.”
“Bucky, there are cameras.” despite your protests you are lifting your hips to allow Bucky to slip your trousers down your thighs.
“I’ll wipe the data.” his reply is gruff as he pulls you to the edge of the seat, your thighs slung over his shoulders as his hot breath fans over you. “i’ll be quick, please.” he doesn’t finish his sentence before diving in, his tongue flat against your aching pussy.
You’d be lying if you said you hadn’t been thinking about Bucky and the thousand and one ways you wanted to fuck him once getting home but there hasn’t been a moment alone to take care of yourself and so your tension built and built until a single look had you gushing and aching.
“You’re sitting on my face when we get home.” Bucky mumbles, words muffled as he licks and sucks. “Need you to suffocate me.”

Bucky traded lazy kisses with you as your tears slowed, and you had no idea if it was his mouth that had your heart pounding and the crushing weight of everything that surrounded him. It was so much to unpack. Every encounter with him seemed to be that way. Something blindsided you or suffocated you, but you hadn't been at all prepared for what he just shared. And how could you? He didn't keep photos of his mother around, and you hadn't gone poking around online.
Would you have found out the truth if you had?
He followed your lips when you pulled away. “It’s okay,” he whispered, pulling you back in.
It wasn’t okay. Nothing was okay. Though it partially made sense now why he was moving so fast. He believed if he met you then that you would've fallen in love and been together to this day. Because he didn't seek you out then and lost so much time, he was packing everything into a rushed time span. Dating, meeting his friends, getting you into his place. He was moving things along at an accelerated speed, and you were barely keeping up with the ride.
“No.” The muffled word against his lips somehow rang out loud and clear enough for him to stop, but you put a hand on his chest in case he tried to lean in again. “Why are you punishing me?”
His eyes rounded. “You think I’m punishing you? Jesus, why would you think that?”
“Because of how you went about all of this. I know you were desperate, and I get the drive behind some of your actions now,” you said, which you refused to excuse. You got it but couldn’t excuse it. “Your response of ‘where’s the fun in that?’ when I said you couldn’t just ask me out like a normal person? You almost seemed to delight in intimidating me. Why?”
If you saved his mom, why do this?
“I didn’t delight in that. I played it wrong,” he admitted in a quiet voice, surprising you. “I approached it like…”
“Like everything else in your life where you have everyone under your thumb through fear. You did the same thing to me.” You laughed just a little. “In a way, it worked because I’m officially afraid to try to leave you.”
Had things blossomed between you two organically, you’d like to believe that things would’ve been better. Healthy. There was always the chance that a relationship might’ve come to an end because life was like that. But if he frightened you enough to stay forever, he’d never have to worry. The stars would still align as far as he was concerned.
“I don’t want you to fear me or what we have,” he whispered, reaching for you as you scooted back.
“What we have? Tell me, do you think your mom would be proud of your actions to obtain me or ashamed?” You couldn’t believe that was the kind of man she raised, to put fear into the heart of the person he supposedly loved.
He flinched. Actually flinched. You might as well have raised a hand to him. “She…” He swallowed. “She would’ve wanted us together.”
“Like this? By you not giving me a choice?” you asked, pushing yourself up. “I need to go home.” There would be no getting through to him and this revelation was doing your head in. One cup of coffee wasn't enough either.
He got up to follow you. “Why are you rushing off?”
“I have a shift today, and I have to go home and shower,” you said, grabbing some of your things. “Don’t worry about dropping me off. I’ll get a cab.”
“What? No, you-”
“You put money in my account, so it’s not like I have to worry about paying for it. And it’s not like I’ll be alone either since you’ll have me followed whether I want it or not,” you said as a matter of fact.
“You’re putting a wall up,” he said, frowning as you grabbed your phone charger before he could. “Don’t shut me out, please.”
“I’m not shutting you out. I’m trying to process the gigantic bombshell you dropped on me,” you said, stopping to look at him when he grabbed your arm. “Bucky-”
“This has been a lot, all of it, but we can’t go back and change it, and you know I can’t let you go because we’re meant to be together,” he said, his eyes searching yours. “You feel it. I know you do.”
How many times would he say that until you agreed? “Just because you think fate stepped in-”
“Fate brought you into my club, but I gave it a much-needed push to bring us together after leaving things to chance for so long,” he said, tugging you closer and putting his other hand on your cheek. “You can’t tell me you don’t care about me in some capacity. You’re just afraid to admit it because it isn’t conventional in your eyes, but you don’t have to be afraid of how you feel.”
How could you truly fall in love with him when he orchestrated everything from the start? “Feelings or not you’re still going to force me to move in with you soon, and that scares me,” you said. Your wings would forever be clipped.
“We should’ve been living together and married by now,” he argued, keeping a tight hold on you. “I know I’m making you move in sooner than you want, but beyond safety it’ll give us a chance to really know each other before we get married.”
Talk of marriage had your heart thudding. The man would probably force you to marry him sooner than you wanted. “You said you already know everything about me,” you said. At least he thought he knew you. The vision of you he built up in his mind scared you, too. He couldn’t keep you on that pedestal.
“But you don’t fully know me yet, and I don’t know what it’s like to live with you. The experience will bring us closer together.” His smile was full of hope. “We can read together, do movie nights, dance in the kitchen.”
“Bucky-”
“We can exercise together, in and out of bed,” he continued, your breath hitching as he rubbed his nose against yours. “Don’t you already feel closer to me now that you know we're meant to be?”
A quick knock on the door followed by a long one saved you from answering. “It isn't check-out time, is it?”
“No. That would be Ray,” Bucky headed to the door and kept you back a small distance before he answered. The man really was protective, wasn't he?
“I’m sorry to intrude,” Ray said, giving you a polite nod before he leaned in and whispered something to Bucky. Whatever was said to him made his face harden. The entire change in his demeanor worried you.
“Kotyonok, let’s get your bag and get you back to your place so you can get ready for work,” he suggested, his smile tight.
“What’s the matter?” you asked.
“I’ll tell you later,” he answered, kissing your forehead. “And before we go, I know you suggested taking a cab, but please let Ray take you back to your place. It would make me feel better.”
The hint of a plea in his voice and the look in Ray’s eyes kept you from protesting. “Fine, Ray can take me home. Just give me a second to change out of these pajamas,” you said, a bit surprised that Bucky wasn’t offering to take you home himself. “But you are going to tell me later what’s going on, right?” you asked.
“I will, but I need some answers myself first. Get changed. I’ll get your bag,” he said, gently guiding you to the bathroom so you could change and officially ending that conversation.
Ray was still by the entry door once you came out, looking a bit stiffer than usual, too. You stole a glance at Bucky as the three of you headed to the elevator, catching the anger etched in his features as he gripped your bag handle tight enough that you thought it would rip. They were leaving you in the dark about something. You weren’t sure if you could take any other bombshells.
“Ray may need to pick you up from work instead of me, but I’ll message you if that’s the case,” Bucky said, fixing his hair in the elevator reflection. “And… we may need to talk about your girls’ day out.”
“What about it?” you asked, already knowing where he was going with this.
“If you can cancel or reschedule it,” he replied.
You stared hard at him. Where was that coming from? “No, it's tomorrow, and I’m not cancelling or rescheduling. And don’t you dare use Zemo as an excuse to get your way,” you snapped. Even if it was a valid reason, you didn’t want to hear it.
His jaw clenched, but he looked sad as he glanced at you. “I just don’t know if it’s a good idea.”
“We talked about this. If it’s a safety issue, Ray agreed that someone could watch out for me. That should keep me safe,” you reminded him. You’d be fine. “Right, Ray?”
The blonde stared straight ahead. “That isn’t my decision,” he said apologetically.
Your shoulders slumped. For a short time, you thought he could be on your side or at least help give you some slack. “Right. Because you don't get to make decisions, and neither do I. You’re a bodyguard, I’m just a doll,” you said, looking straight ahead, too, and pulling your hand back when Bucky tried to take it. “Please, don’t.”
“Kotyonok…” Bucky sighed as the door opened. You marched out, not waiting for either of them. “Wait.”
You headed straight for the desk, feeling sadder when you didn’t see Natasha. “Checking out, please,” you said, sliding the room card over to the woman standing there.
“Of course. I hope you enjoyed your stay.” She looked behind you likely at Bucky before giving you a smile. “Ms. Romanoff also wanted to remind you that you have a place here if you need one.”
“I’m sure I’ll take her up on that soon,” you said, turning your head to glare at Bucky. While his expression was stoic, his eyes told you he didn’t want you to be upset with him. “And make sure she adds an inconvenience fee to the damaged wall bill. She’ll know what I mean.”
“I’ll be sure to do that,” she smiled. “Take care.”
Bucky was hot on your heel and you didn't make it two steps out the door before he had a hand on you. “You’re upset with me. Putting up more of that wall.”
You didn't speak until Ray walked past you to get his car. “You’re trying to get me to cancel my day out with my friends, after you went through the whole charade of buying me a new dress for it and everything. And after what you told me about your mom.” You took a breath to try to calm down. “Yeah, I’m upset, and yeah, you’re supplying me with the very bricks to build that wall.”
“I said we may need to talk about it, I didn’t flat out say you weren’t going,” he corrected you. He might as well have. “I know it means a lot to you, but-”
You held a hand up. “No. There are no ‘buts’ in this. For all you keep taking from me, I don’t ask for much. I really don't,” you stated. In fact, you’ve shown lots of restraint. “Who knows how many moments I’ll get like this with my friends once you move me in.” He wasn’t about to take this small thing from you after everything.
He titled his head. “You think I’ll keep you from them?”
“Part of me thinks you will, yes. Because as soon as I think that there’s hope, the second I think that we could be closer together while you loosen the reins, you say or do something that puts me back in your full control,” you said. He had to see that. “And every time you do that, like you are right now, it makes me want to push you away.”
“And you can push all you want, but I’ll just pull you closer,” he smiled, making you huff when he actually did so. “I’m not afraid to let you burn me.”
“You keep saying that. Give me a match or a lighter and we’ll test that theory,” you said. He burst out laughing, the sound loud in the morning air as your eyes widened. “Why are you laughing?” you asked incredulously. How could he laugh when you were still worked up?
“Because even arguing with you makes me happy,” he sincerely stated. “And now all I want to do is find a way to put a smile back on your face.”
You exhaled. He was so in love with the idea of a relationship with you that arguments appealed to him? Anyone else would've walked away by now.
“You’re infuriating,” you whispered when he touched the corner of your mouth and made it twitch in a small smile. “Impossible.”
“I know,” he whispered back, running a hand through his hair. “Listen, you’re tired and you’re overwhelmed, which is completely my fault. Am I right?”
“Yes,” you sighed. He hit it right on the nose.
“And maybe I was rash in suggesting that you cancel your plans, but I need to take care of a couple things before we discuss that more,” he said, leading you to Ray's car before you could protest. “You just have a good shift, okay?”
He was placating you now, and it was sadly working. “Fine,” you said, touching his hand, the metal one. “I don’t think I said so earlier, but thank you for finally telling me the truth,” you said, calmer than you were moments before. He should've told you from the start, but it couldn't have been easy reopening old wounds regarding his dad.
His gaze softened. “Thank you for letting me.”
“And whatever Ray told you or whatever’s going on, just breathe, okay?” you begged.
He took a deep breath. “I’ll just think of you and it’ll help,” he said, adding in a low voice as he pulled you against him. “And this.”
This was nothing like the slow, languid kisses from minutes ago. This was dominant, claiming, threatening to rob you of the air in your lungs, like he wanted you to feed your own breath into him. He either forgot Ray was there, or he simply didn’t care.
By the time Bucky stopped kissing you and helped you into the car, you didn’t want to look either of them in the eye.
“I love you,” he whispered, kissing your temple and shutting the door as your heart flip flopped. God, he was insufferable. Confusing. Obsessed.
“You're certainly keeping him on his toes,” Ray said, not driving off until he made sure Bucky was in his vehicle, too.
“Someone has to,” you said, staring out the window. “I’m going with my friends tomorrow. I don't care if he makes you drag me back,” you said. Unless your life was in some sort of immediate danger, there was no reason for you to skip out on meeting up with the girls.
“So you’re aware, the suggestion of you moving your day out has nothing to do with wanting to control you. He’s upset because of the news I delivered and he wants to keep you close,” Ray explained, making you feel a little bad.
“So, that news was the reason why you both changed your tune, and you can't tell me what that news is,” you guessed. If you were in some sort of danger though, surely Bucky would’ve said so. “He told me about his mom. How I saved her.”
Silence filled the vehicle. “So, you know the truth,” he said after a minute, his voice neutral. “Are you okay?”
“I’m trying to be,” you answered carefully. You really were.
“That’s all you can do,” he said before adding under his breath, “No good deed goes unpunished.”
You snorted. “I guess I'm living breathing proof of that.” It was ironic how an act of kindness put you on this path. “And as much as I don't like to wish pain upon people, I hope Bucky's dad got whatever he deserved.”
Winnie, from the short time you knew her, was nothing but wonderful. Bucky said the dahlia painting in his office served as a reminder that he would never do to you what his dad did to his mom. He would never set you up to take the fall for anyone else, wouldn’t let someone else hurt you if he could help it. He would forever stand by you.
Was pushing him away doing you any good?
“He did,” Ray promised you. “And I say with complete sincerity that I hope today is very uneventful for you after the time you've had.”
Your nose scrunched as you laughed. “So do I, Ray. So do I.”
Ray was kind enough to wait outside of your place as you showered and got ready for work, and didn't push you to talk more before he dropped you off at the shop. He was even kind enough to stop so you could get another cup of coffee. It helped improve your mood.
“There she is!” Kate smiled when you walked in. “Little miss not-so-single anymore.”
“Hey,” you giggled before you paused. “I didn't know you were working today. Did you switch shifts with someone?”
“God, the schedule’s all messed up. Mrs. Crandle called out for some business thing-”
“Business thing?” you asked, your brows pinched. She hardly ever took time off for things like vacation let alone a business thing without informing her staff.
“Yeah, I’m not really sure about all the details, but Lorraine ended up switching the whole schedule around. Mya’s coming in later, and I had to come in early, and your shift’s ending early.”
“What?” you frowned, checking the schedule to make sure. She was right. Your shift today was almost cut in half. “Would’ve been nice to get a text or something.”
The assistant manager wasn't bad to work with, but she could be a little forgetful with things like that. If Bucky hadn't just put money in your account, you may have been more upset over having half a shift cut. After the night and morning you had though, maybe an afternoon off wouldn't be so bad.
“She probably forgot since you were coming in at your normal time. Who knows?” Kate shrugged. “You know, I half expected Clark to be here waiting for you. Seemed really eager to see you yesterday.”
“Yeah, about that.” You looked toward the door, your body tense in anticipation even though he wasn't there. “Why did you tell him I was working today?”
“He’s kind of a regular, and I didn't really think about it. Then Mrs. Crandle brought up your boyfriend and…” Her face fell as she stopped cutting stems, which made you feel bad when she glanced your way. “Crap, I did something wrong, didn't I?”
You weren’t about to go into specifics regarding your personal situation. “I just don’t want customers to know when my shifts are unless I’m specifically working on an order or event for them, okay?” you said, hoping she understood that it was a general request.
Bucky was not getting in your head about your safety.
“Okay, as long as you aren’t mad,” she said. You gave her a smile to assure her that you were okay. “So, tell me about your new boyfriend.”
You filled her in as much as you could to make it sound believable, just like you had with Addison. Like her and Mrs. Crandle, Kate was excited for you. And they would never know the full truth.
As your shift went on, you were surprised you hadn't heard much from Bucky. It was for the best though. He was clearly dealing with something. As much as you didn't want to defend him in your mind, it had taken a lot for him to talk about his parents. To show you some of the damage done to his body. It was a vulnerable moment. Did you owe it to him to be vulnerable, too?
Wait, why did you owe him anything?
“Heading out?” Kate asked once your shift was up.
“Yeah,” you replied, glancing at your phone. You wondered if you should text Bucky before you decided against it. You'd let him know once you got to your place that you wouldn't need a ride. “Just call me if you need me to come back in.”
“Don’t worry about that. Enjoy the rest of your day!” she smiled.
Satisfied when you didn't see Bucky or Ray’s car waiting for you either, you decided to take a walk. It was a nice day, and you needed the fresh air. You hoped the weather was nice for the winery. You’d have to take photos to look back on what was going to be a fun time.
“Hey!” you heard someone shout after a few minutes of walking.
You stopped when you spotted Clark waving at you from the other side of the street. You barely waved back before he joined you. “Hey. What are you doing here?”
“Oh, I was just in the neighborhood,” he smiled, pushing his glasses up. “You done working already?”
“Yep,” you said, adjusting your bag. “And I should really-”
“Could we talk for a minute?” he asked.
You hesitated before nodding. “Sure,” you said, falling in step beside him.
“You know, I actually went to the shop to buy you flowers yesterday. I was going to buy you some roses,” he smiled.
Oh, God. “You were?”
“Yeah, but you weren’t there and… It doesn’t matter,” he smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets. “But I was thinking… Maybe we could grab a coffee sometime? My treat.”
The hopeful look in his eyes made a pit form in your stomach. “Clark, I’m seeing someone,” you said, his blue eyes dimming. Hadn’t Kate said that Mrs. Crandle brought up that you were in a relationship? “It’s fairly new, and I don’t want to mess things up,” you explained, though he wasn’t owed an explanation.
“I didn’t want to believe it,” he mumbled, kicking a small rock on the sidewalk. “Well, if it’s fairly new, I'm sure you can get coffee with other people.”
“Get coffee with people? Yes. But this kind of sounds like a date, and I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’m sorry,” you said. That would feel like cheating even if you didn't consider it a date, and you weren't that kind of person.
“Then we won’t call it a date,” he grinned.
Maybe you were feeling paranoid, but there was something weird behind his smile. “You just got out of a relationship, and I don’t want to send mixed signals by agreeing to go with you.”
His smile shook a bit. “It's just a coffee.”
“Is it?” The longer he stared, the more odd things felt, and you didn’t like it. “Listen, when you find someone else to give flowers to I’d be happy to pick some out for you.”
“I don't understand.” He laughed, but it sounded bitter. “You’ve always been nice to me.”
“Well, yeah. You’ve always been kind, too, when you come into the shop.”
“Too nice for someone like Bucky Barnes,” he muttered, his smile disappearing completely.
You gaped at him, almost faltering in your step. “What did you just say?”
“I said you’re too nice for someone like Bucky Barnes,” he said louder, his ire clear as day. “You think I don’t know about his reputation? He’s dangerous, and you’re too good for him.”
“How do you know I’m dating him?” you asked. And what did he know about his reputation?
He was quiet for a moment. “Mrs. Crandle said his name, and she has no idea what kind of man he is,” he said, making you feel uneasy. “I don’t think you do either.”
Oh, you knew plenty. “I appreciate your concern, really, but it’s nothing for you to worry about.”
“Well, I do. And I just don’t see why we can’t have one cup of coffee together,” he said, flashing a smile again. “It’ll be fun.”
“Because you know I’m seeing someone,” you said. He knew it before he bumped into you, but was still pushing for you to go with him. “And I also kind of make it a rule not to date customers,” you added, stopping when you got to your building. You walked faster than you thought.
“Well, rules should have exceptions, right? And if Bucky cared so much, where is he? Why wasn’t he waiting to pick you up and take you home?” he pressed, his eyes narrowing when you dug into your purse. “Maybe he doesn’t care about you as much as you think.”
Your next breath came out shaky. He hadn’t raised his voice at you, but you didn’t appreciate the third degree, or the implication that Bucky didn’t care. “Because he’s a busy man who sometimes works both days and nights. I don’t expect him to drop everything just to take me home.”
“If you took a chance on me, you’d never have to worry about things like that.”
You were starting to feel nauseous. “Well, sometimes I like the quiet after the bustle of the shop, so walking helps me decompress. And I can't take a chance on you when I’m seeing someone else.” Why was he being so pushy?
He took a small step closer. “You know, it’s dangerous to walk home alone.”
You took a step back, your keys between your fingers. “You’re right about that,” you agreed. The only reason you did so today was to take back a little control, which didn’t seem so smart now.
“I can start walking you home if you want,” he smiled, towering over you. Was he always so imposing? “When’s your next shift?”
You managed a smile in return, but it was extremely forced. “Clark, that’s really not necessary, but thank you for the offer. Enjoy the rest of your day.”
He gently took your arm when you turned toward the door, worry crawling up your spine when his hand tightened a fraction. You suddenly wish you had Bucky or Ray around. “I really don’t mind.”
“My boyfriend will mind, and I’m sure you can understand that. So it’s a no on the coffee and the walks home,” you said gently but firmly, pulling your arm back and rubbing the spot where Clark grabbed you. He wasn’t listening. It somehow felt worse than Bucky and you couldn’t pinpoint why. Was it because Clark tried to act nice? “It’s been a long few days, and I’m going to get some rest. Have a nice day, okay?”
His eyes narrowed again, but it was his chilling smile that unnerved you. “I’m sure I'll see you again soon. We’ll have to get that coffee,” he said, walking off before you could say another word.
You rushed into the building once he was out of sight, your hands shaking. It may have been from the confrontation or the combination of everything. Maybe Clark was just lonely and latched on a bit because you were nice. Hadn't Bucky done something similar?
But if Clark wanted to see you, why hadn't he just gone into the shop if he knew you were working?
Double checking your locks once you were in your apartment, you took a breath and stared at your phone once you sat down. You had to talk to Bucky. He answered within a few seconds of you calling.
“Kotyonok, is everything okay?” he asked, sounding both happy and concerned to hear from you.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t it be?” you asked, hearing a few other men speaking in the background.
“Because you’re calling me and not texting. And you sound a little off. What’s wrong?”
“Everything’s fine,” you lied. How did he recognize that you felt off? “I just wanted you to know that the assistant manager changed my shift, so I went home early.”
“Wait, you’re already home?” he asked. The background noise suddenly stopped. “Did you get a cab? Please tell me you didn’t walk back to your place.”
“…Fine, I won’t tell you that.”
Bucky let out an impressive string of curse words as you pulled the phone away from your ear. “That’s not safe. You know it isn’t,” he hissed, but you knew he wasn’t actually angry with you. Just the situation. And bumping into Clark today and Zemo the day before, he had a bit of a point. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you? Because I said it may not be a good idea to go out with your friends.”
You closed your eyes. He was not going to make you feel bad. “I just needed a breather, okay? And I made it home just fine.”
“But did you? How do I know someone didn’t follow you?” he asked. Clark’s face flashed in your mind when you stayed quiet. “…Kotyonok, did someone follow you?”
“No one followed me that I know of,” you said. You really didn't have any idea. “But… I did bump into Clark. He was in the neighborhood.”
“Clark? That guy from the shop who tried to give you flowers just happened to be in your neighborhood when I wasn't around?” he asked, fury seeping into his tone as you winced.
“I… I’m sure it was a coincidence,” you said. Placating him in this wasn’t going to work, but you had to try.
“That isn’t a fucking coincidence and we both know it. Did he say anything? Try anything?”
You shut your eyes. It would be like ripping off a band-aid. “He asked me to go get a cup of coffee with him, but I told him I was seeing someone.”
He chuckled humorlessly. “He asked you out?” he asked, making you shift in your seat. “Why the fuck do I not have a file on him yet?!” he snapped at someone in the background.
“I’m working on it, boss!” you heard someone promise. “Should I call-”
“No. I’ll call him myself,” Bucky growled.
Who was he talking about? “Bucky, it’s okay. The guy asked me out and I said no,” you assured him. You weren't going to go out with Clark. “I’m sure women throw themselves at you every day and you turn them down.”
“They don't ‘bump’ into me in my neighborhood. And had you told me you were leaving early, I could’ve made sure this guy didn’t go anywhere near you. I don’t even want him near your shop until I know more about him,” he said, his anger not lessening. “If he tries anything, I will tear him apart piece by fucking piece,” he promised you, the intensity in his tone making your throat go dry.
“That isn’t necessary,” you whispered.
He sighed. “Why would you deliberately put yourself in a spot like this just to prove a point? Be pissed at me, I can take that, but do not risk your safety,” he said, adding in a quieter voice, “I couldn’t take it if something happened to you.”
You bit the inside of your cheek, hating how guilty you felt, how worried he sounded on your behalf. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to worry you,” you said. It was stubborn and dumb on your part, and now you were afraid that Bucky really would try to cancel your day out tomorrow. You couldn’t let him. “I’ll make it up to you, okay?”
“Make it up to me?” he asked. That seemed to get his attention. “How are you going to do that?”
“I’ll…” you began, steadying yourself. Natasha said you had power, and maybe you’d have to test that sooner than you expected. “Stay at your place tonight.”
You could hear a pin drop from the quiet. “You’ll stay the night?” he asked, his voice moving like lava through your veins.
“Yes,” you whispered, hammering the nail in the coffin.
“Give me two hours and I'll come get you,” he said, his voice strained, eager. “Be ready.”
“I will be.”
God, you hoped you knew what you were doing.
Oh, Clark. He's a problem now, isn't he? What do we think Ray told Bucky? And what's going to happen when you spend the night? Love and thanks for reading! ❤️

Midnight Kiss
Steve Rogers x reader
Just a little ditty in honor of the upcoming holiday. Warnings for suggestive language and bad puns. It's just cute, awkward, and chivalrous...until it isn't. If you couldn't deduce it from the title: they kiss lol. WC 1.5k+
He's happy to see the team having fun, but this isn't exactly Steve's 'scene.' Granted, his 'scene' flew the coop long ago, when his generation aged out of large, raucous celebrations, or rather, Steve never had any true social scene because he never really lived .
He's still trying, he swears; it's just...
really. damn. loud.
The lights are somehow too dim and too bright all at once. Everyone is happy and blitzed and dressed to the nines and leaning on the closest stable object. Any minute now, he'll bow out and call it a--
There's an ear-piercing cackle from a woman in a '2024' gold-streamered headband not two yards to his right, and she tips backwards, shoving an innocent passerby straight into his solid side.
"Sorry," you squeak, rolling your eyes because the word wasn't loud enough to shame the drunk woman beside you, but you're facing him, too, unable to see she's about to make it worse.
The woman snorts and laughs harder, toppling over because her party of friends have the reaction time of sloths, their hands full of dainty champagne flutes and mini-snacks.
Steve instinctively pulls you out of the way, his broad, strong arm wrapping your waist and pinning you to him.
"Oof," you grunt in alarm, the woman's drink spilling over your shoulder.
Hors d'oeuvres, Steve thinks sullenly, that's what people call them these days.
The woman doesn't apologize, and neither do her friends.
He counts a full five seconds before anyone in the small group even raises a hand to help the woman still giggling on the floor. Mostly, Steve is now concerned with the glass shards near your feet.
He's all for having fun, he's all for letting off a little steam, but he is not a fan of sloppiness. That's not a generational trait; that's simple courtesy.
"Ok, 'nough of this," he mutters, an itchy irritation scurrying up his body while he tries not to take over care of the woman. Instead, he checks your legs with a glance, sees the open toes of your strappy sandals, and hoists you into his arms.
He walks away from the bar, sound of crunching fading with each step, and finds a tiny bench--the only spot not occupied--where he can set you down.
Steve can't hear your shock or protest because his blood races past his ears. That was the last straw. He's annoyed now.
"Stay there," he commands, putting up a finger that gets shockingly close to touching your lips since you leaned in to speak. "I'm getting some napkins."
The bartender is oblivious, and why should he not be? The man is one of two serving over a hundred guests, give or take, for hours and hours. Steve doesn't bother getting his attention. He stretches a long arm over the bar top and grabs a stack of cocktail napkins.
It might as well be toilet paper.
He dabs and dabs at the sleeve of your dress, but the napkins dissolve and turn to damp pills. In his day, those results would make excellent spitballs to pass the time in class. They aren't so trendy on your black velvet.
"I thought this would work." He doesn't know what else to do but keep dabbing, so he anxiously continues, not noticing the precarious proximity to your chest until you put a hand on his.
You have kind eyes, he thinks, even though he can't fully make out their color in the mood lighting.
"Please, don't--" finally one of the woman's group yells over a quick sorry "--don't bother with that," you finish. "It's just a dress. You can go back to your people, Captain."
He scrunches his brow. He sometimes wants to introduce himself; he wouldn't always use his rank, but he rarely gets that luxury. "You sure you're okay?"
"Yeah." You nod. "Was heading out anyway. I'll just sit a sec and then leave."
Sounds like the highlight of my night--leaving.
Instead, Steve stands to his full height and scans the busy room for any of his team. He shrugs to himself since, who's he kidding, no one will miss him if he disappears early. He's put in the appearance. He's made enough small drunk talk. Yikes, does he wish alcohol still affected him...
"I'll walk you out," he offers, careful to modulating his volume when one song abruptly ends and another starts lower.
At first, you don't take his hand, and your first two steps seem sturdy.
Then your weight crumples after a deep hiss.
Steve has you back up and carried to the bathroom in a flash. It's lit so he can actually see and muffled so he can actually hear, thank goodness.
Glass did sneak into your shoe, and it easily poked through the ball of your foot. He's so quick to find it that not one whole drop of blood has even eased out of the wound by the time he's pulling the shard out. His bare hands pinch the sizable chunk.
He's careful, slow, and gentle. He's also a touch proud that you make very little fuss, only squirming in discomfort while he works.
"All better," he says, dropping the glass into the trash bin. "We'll just wash it and...you alright?"
You're already pushing yourself off the counter top.
"You shouldn't put weight on it yet." Steve gingerly lifts your leg at the knee to keep the foot from touching the bare tile floor.
"Yeah, but--" you make a face "--you set me down in water."
Steve's eyes bug out. "I--oh gosh--so sorry, I--let me--" there are no paper towels, only an air dryer "--shit."
Defeated by modernity again, he sighs. "I just...I can get more napkins and maybe a first aid kit from--"
The crowd outside is starting to yell. They're counting, backwards, and there's no way anyone will understand what he's asking for in that chaos.
"Ten!"
Steve meets your eyes.
"Nine!"
He can see their full color now and that your dress isn't black. It's a very, very dark maroon velvet. Wetness is easily visible though, since your sleeve seems fully black at the shoulder.
"Eight!"
He points to the door. "Somebody I can get for you?"
You shake your head.
Not that he was fishing for your relationships status, but he's encouraged nonetheless.
"Seven!"
"Only me," you shrug, "braving the party for a thrill..."
"Same."
"Six!"
"How was the year?" he cracks with a smile.
You tilt your head. He's distracted by the cute gesture.
"Five!"
He stares.
"Four!"
"Not great," you admit.
Steve thinks while he stares.
"Three!"
Actually, no, that's a lie. He doesn't think; he just acts.
"Tw--"
He swoops in, big palms cradling each side of your face, soft lips pressed to yours for just an instant, but only because he wants more.
Unless tortured, Steve Rogers will never admit that he didn't plan for one instant where his tongue was not involved. He absolutely wants to taste you. He absolutely wants to own you, just for these few seconds. He absolutely wants to hear you moan in encouragement, the sound crystal clear in isolation from the party.
The roar of the crowd is soft static compared to that racing blood of his.
He pushes himself closer, his bent arms getting in his way, so Steve props up with a palm on the--oh wow, that is wet--counter. His thumb touches the soggy velvet covering your hip and thigh.
He'll buy you a whole new dress if only you lace your fingers in his hair, if only you take his bottom lip between your teeth, if only you whine just like that again.
By 'again,' he means in a few seconds, and maybe tomorrow, and, for good measure, whenever after that.
A loud thud on the door knocks him out of his lip-lock trance. It's not a single restroom, so he suspects another overly inebriated patron since no one comes through the door.
But now some sense is knocked into him, too.
He chews on his swollen lips for a moment, nervous to look up. He hopes you don't regret it, and he hopes you know that he does not, can not, and will never regret that kiss.
Your sated sigh breaks the tension after a beat. "Starting this year off right," you mutter, "at least for me..."
"Yeah," Steve chuckles, glancing at the door before finally taking in your lounging form, "the gang is gonna love how I ended up in a ladies' bathroom at the stroke of midnight, necking a stranger."
You snort.
"Don't leave out the part where I was wet for you, head to toe, huh?"
Too bad the florescent lights are bright enough to show his raging red blush, but he clears his throat with a deep growl.
"They'll never believe me..."
Steve sweeps you up into his arms again.
"...unless I take you as proof...and to get a bandage, of course."
You snatch up your shoe and purse, but he won't let this Cinderella run off. You'll be right here against him all night.
"Well, go ahead and splash my other shoulder," you tease. "I can't be lop-sided."
Steve grins, already adding more and more things to list of what he'll do for you, to you, and with you. The list can include parties, too, if this is how wonderfully sweet and silly they can all be.
Happy New Year, indeed...
