2024 f1 Season Was For The Girls

The club was loud, a crowd of his closest friends and family surrounding him, music thumping through the floor and lights flashing overhead. You’d agreed before the finish that if he won, you’d be on babysitting duty—which you didn’t mind at all. You were standing with Pietra and Flo, watching him laugh and celebrate, when you noticed the shift.

Halfway through the night, he pulled you from the circle and stood you beside him, his grip a little tighter than usual. He wobbled, leaning slightly into Jon for balance.

“You okay, babe?” Y/N shouted in his ear over the music.

He nodded, but you could see it—he was teetering between piss-drunk and blackout. His eyes were low and glassy, his tell-tale sign, one you’d learned from being with him since grade school.

The party was electric, but you could see it—he was done. After the fifth replay of “We Are the Champions,” he slumped back, Max gently pushing him toward you by the shoulders. He melted into you, his head dropping into the crook of your neck.

You heard it before you felt it. “I’m done,” he slurred, his voice heavy. You could feel the sweat from his hair dampen your skin, his weight settling fully against you as if he trusted you to hold him up.

“Okay,” you murmured softly, rubbing slow circles into his back. You caught Jon’s eye over his shoulder and signed to him, already shifting your stance to keep Lando steady. Within seconds, the plan was in motion—the exit clear, him putting full trust in his closest people to guide him.

Walking out of the club was a sight to see. His head hung low, you beside him holding his hand—Jon on one side, Max on the other, Rich close behind. Throughout the short journey, you slipped easily into the familiar mom role, quietly reminding him, “You’re almost to the car, baby,” or gently, “Watch your step, love.”

Each time, he answered the same way—a soft squeeze of your hand, his quiet way of letting you know he heard you.

Finally getting into the car, you settled into the back seat with Lando fully sprawled across your lap. Your hand moved in slow, soothing circles over his back, feeling the slight tremor in his shoulders and the gentle press of his hand against his stomach.

“We did it,” he murmured, voice soft and unsteady. He shifted slightly, letting out a quiet groan. “Feeling nauseous…”

“Shh, it’s okay, baby,” you whispered, keeping him cradled as he leaned fully into you. His other hand found yours, gripping it lightly for support, and he let out a small, relieved sigh, resting his head comfortably in the crook of your neck, eyes fluttering closed.

“I… love you,” he murmured sleepily, barely audible.

Y/n and Lando walked into the Silverstone paddock side by side. This is not the first time Y/n has come to a GP, mostly being known as “ his on and off again situation.” They were only seen together sporadically at the start of the 2025 season, but now you’ve officially been together for two years, and Y/n is five months pregnant.

As they walk past the wall of media, y/n can’t but feel self-conscious. She holds on to Lando’s hand tighter. “Oh god,”y/n mumbled under her breath, putting her arms around her stomach. As the media continuously hurled questions at them, “Are you and Lando officially together?” “Lando, are you nervous about Piastri overtaking you at your home race ?” All of them were desperate for a headline.

As the start of the race approached, you could tell Lando was extra anxious, tapping his fingers together, pacing, and double-checking he had all his gear. So before he went to the grid, she pulled him into his driver’s room.

“Baby, look at me,” she said, grabbing his face. “Everyone is gonna be proud of you regardless of the finish you’ve got. Everyone is behind you, including this little one,”you said, pointing to your belly. He exhaled slightly at that, a grin on his face. His arms wrapped tightly around you, the noise outside fading. “I just wanna prove myself. Everyone is here for me. I have Lando standing. I just need this to go right.” At that, a light knock came on the door, signaling he needed to get to the grid. You pulled him in for a kiss and sent him off.

The race was nerve-wracking. They were on the final lap. Lando was leading the garage, holding their breath. You closed your eyes at the last corner, unable to watch when the garage erupted. You heard Will’s radio: “Home race is yours, mate. Well done. Enjoy it.” And at that, you couldn’t wait to get to the barricade.

You raced your way down, being five months pregnant, wasn’t going to stop you from missing this moment.

You squished your way to the front, and there you saw him. And the moment you caught his eyes, he came over. You grabbed his helmet, lifted his visor, and saw tears in his eyes. “You did it,” you whispered as he grabbed you in a bone-crushing hug, and gave you the most pda kiss ever not realizing that your shirt rode up in the process.

The next morning after a night of celebration you being DD for Lando you woke up in the hotel bed still reeling from the day and picked up your phone not expecting the first thing you see to be a headline “oh baby is y/n expecting and there it was clear as day your baby belly slightly on display

He’d been struggling between sessions. The team might’ve been oblivious, but y/n knew his face was ashen every time he got out. He couldn’t quite focus when going over data with Will, and most of all, he was clinging to you. You couldn’t be more than 20ft before he was saying, “Baby, you’re too far,” causing your cheeks to turn red and the rest of the team to mock him.

P5 you would take it after watching from the garage. You slipped your headphones off and watched his post-quali interview. He looked no worse for wear, but hearing him confess, “ I struggled a bit, but I’m ill at the moment but hoping to gain points for the team tomorrow regardless.”

You just hope he would have some luck on his side to combat the rough start.

Y/n sat watching the race intensely in the garage, headphones on. He’d had a good race so far, moving through the field now in p3 and had a great pit stop with a lap left. Y/n couldn’t believe it. He was going to get a podium after weeks of doubt and sickness. He was finally back, and when he crossed the line, the garage erupted in cheers. Will radioed him immediately, “We did it, mate! P3 and Constructors Champs for the second time! Mega job!” to which Lando replied, “ ah shit! I’m tired. I didn’t drink. I felt too bad, but who cares?” That made the garage laugh, and y/n tear up.

Y/n made the choice to stay back at the motor home and watch the podium from there, not because she wasn’t proud of him or excited; she just knew this was also a big achievement for McLaren, and she wanted them to soak up the moment.

To keep it low key Lando slowly started showing more little glimpses of her in race week photo dumps more outings together in Monaco but the real shit show started when she was spotted at the Monaco Gp the commentators and camera crew were specifically focused on showing her every few laps with the graphic “y/n” Lando’s partner underneath clear as day . After that y/n and Lando finally had a heart to heart about being together “officially “ according to the public

“ baby they’ve already started guessing who you are Ive gotten like a thousand dms this week.” He said to her laying in bed one night she reluctantly sighed and mumbled into his chest “ ok guess it’s now or never “

The Hungarian gp weekend arrived and as they walked into the paddock he was more nervous then before qualifying y/n looked beautiful though tan long dress sunglasses perched on her head and of course her phone with his logo on the case. As the race was progressing f1 tv of course showed her a handful of times again but this time she was un phased completely focused on her boy

He did it he won the Hungarian gp fair and square unlike the horror show from last year and y/n couldn’t wait to meet him at the team barricade even choosing to wear his McLaren team sweatshirt and as soon as he got out of the car instead of doing his little gesture like reaching for her hand over the barricade in Monaco he kissed her in front of everyone on national tv and finally everyone understood they were private not secret

Y/n was sitting in the garage in the area away from the engineers Cisca landos mom beside her the race going well until it wasn’t lap 21 braking under a safety car restart. This incident occurred as the safety car was coming in .

The moment you saw it your heart was in your throat and then you heard his voice on comms “you’re kidding we need to appeal can we at least swap positions and race to finish “ he said exasperated to which his engineer decided against at that you watched the race with a heavy heart knowing he didn’t mean to slow down that much but having to live with the consequences. As the race finished you were a bag of mixed emotions happy for Lando winning his home race but couldn’t help but want your boy up on the top step either .

As you watched the ceremony from the team baracade surrounded by a sea of papaya and happiness you couldn’t help but notice Oscar the Oscar who everyone called emotionless was now standing on the podium with a look of defeat . As soon as he came off the podium he went straight to you kissing you slowly like the kiss could heal the open wound of the penalty . “ Will you come with me to the press pin i just need you there” he asked softly you immediately grabbed his hand letting him lead

The longer you stood behind the camera the more you could see him disappearing into himself clipped answers of “ it is what it is looking forward to next weekend “ and I didn’t see the safety car rookie mistake on my part”. Finally after all the chaos of the weekend you were walking back towards the motor home hand and hand when you finally got to talk to him “ I’m proud of you always baby you were amazing no penalty will change that “ he didn’t say anything to in his head but you kept going . “ you’re emotions are valid baby and don’t forget I’m always your number one fan”
