“Buck, for the love of-“

“Were you passing out on me?” His body was pressed flush against his back, and that beard scratched at his neck as he were kissed. For a moment, Hoyt let the man have what he wanted, gentle lips pressing against him, before shrugging him off. Even if it felt good, kissing would turn to biting soon enough.

“The amount of sleep I’ve lost to you...” He elbowed his bed mate, dissatisfied by how an arm wrapped around his waist in return. Pulling him closer. “Yeah, but you’ve never kicked me out yet.” Hoyt could just feel that smirk in the dark. “Tonight might just be the night.” He warned, not putting up much of a fight as he was rolled onto his back.

Buck got over him, straddling his waist, crouched right over him. His hands framed the sides of Hoyt’s head, and their faces were so close their noses just barely touched, side by side.

Despite his exhaustion, warmth blossomed in his chest. He bared his neck.

“Mm? Thought you were gonna kick me out?”

“Fuck, can’t I change my mind once in a while?”

Buck laughed. Kissed him, not on his neck. Drinking him in. Pulled away, leaving Hoyt’s mouth empty.

As it were empty now, with nothing but the words that he was much too late to say.

“... I love you.”

He lay on his back, no weight on his body. No tongue in his mouth. No soft teases in his ear. No prodding at his back.

When it was finally possible for him to get some sleep, being the lone body in bed, he wished for Buck to disturb him one final time.
