To touch a church crucifix is an act of reverence, of devotion. I know this situation is different—I know they're touching it because it's falling. But I see the symbolism all the same.

Because Tanrak's hand goes immediately to the cross. But Barth isn't touching the cross directly. His hand is on top of Tanrak's.
