Bub beep, oh bub beep

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced another fandom space before that had such a fixed age range as that one, when I first joined I was the perfect age to run around and have fun with everybody but as I grew the fandom really did not age with me. It got to a point where I was older than everybody else at only around 16 and 17, things started to get uncomfortable already and by the time I became an adult I just could not interact at all without feeling like a huge creep.

Even when I was younger in the fandom every adult I met in it was either distant and didn’t interact with the community much (if at all) because they experienced the same thing I did later on or they were an entire ass groomer thriving in a fandom so full of kids. Met a lot of weird people in this fandom.

I’m not going to pretend like I think all their songs are awful or anything, I do think a lot of them do still have some charm unfortunately but I’d like to share an opinion about specifically The Distortionist that has been marinating in my brain for years quite frankly. Now that it’s somewhat normal even within the community to critique their work.

It’s too long. The song is just way too long. I have trouble listening to The Distortionist in full because it just drags on and on for no reason. I do like an occasional long song but The Distortionist does not use it’s almost 6 minute long run time to the fullest and it’s bothered me so much for a good while now, it needs to keep up it’s pace and it just can’t! It gets really boring and repetitive after a while! I think the song would’ve been so much better if it was cut down to a much shorter length, maybe even remove half of it.
