the marvel-based enshittification of media has ruined fandoms. irony poisoning makes it cringe to genuinely like anything ever and the puritanical (and lets be honest pro militant) fallout of marvel sucking boots and the renewal of what? the fucking satanic panic? has turned everything into a disingenuous ad-friendly cash grab and if the person making the content isnt treating it that way then the fandom itself will rip it apart and sell it for scrap. fanartists and writers are like dragged into the streets and stoned for writing anything that isnt light hearted and immediately canon-compliant and creators are harassed over what they do and dont think is canon. its stupid. its fucking stupid.

fandom used to be about creating shit divorced from canon and playing with the pieces. i can make this character anything i want it to be. i can write horrific grimdark stories to explore their worst traits. idk i can turn them into fuckin my little ponies and put them into fallout. it used to be FUN and the sense of community that would crop up around these projects WAS the fandom. sharing art and ideas and headcanons and shit. its depressing that its turned into everyone cloistered into themselves trying to hit the algorithm for views and clicks and clout and not for like. enjoyment. or conversations. and god fucking forbid you still try to create canon divergent content
