ok so i’m writing my concert review for chorus on hamilton and it’s turning into a whopping fuckin essay so. if any of u wanna read it after i’ve written it all i’ll probably put it here? it focuses on vocals & stuff but i discuss characterization compared to the obc & the orchestra a bit too so !! if u want me to tag u in it when i’m done u can like this or smth i guess

@tillimfree WAYNE’S BURR WAS SO GOOD !!! his timbre & way of singing reminded me a lot of leslie tbh but he definitely had a different take on burr; his ‘honestly it’s kinda draining’ was less ‘smile through gritted teeth’ and more ‘joking among friends i.e. alexander’ is one of the biggest differences i noticed. his wait for it was so good honestly !!! his belt on ‘i am inimitable-’ was so good and probably one of the best parts of the show. ALSO his burr was a lot friendlier w/ ham? like even his ‘u punched the bursar’ was so much friendlier & less salty it was like a friend teasing a friend & that amity continued almost all the way throughout the show, even when u could tell he was hurt (he looked so upset at ‘decisions are happening over dinner’ like. he didn’t want ham to go) !!! and idk if leslie did this but during the election of 1800 when hamilton said jefferson he looked so happy for a split second bc he expected ham to support him bc They Were Friend and !! all of that added up just made your obedient servant so much more upsetting like!! it felt like they were much closer friends which made it so upsetting when burr turned on ham & started callin him names and then fuckin SHOT HIM

- literally the first note - the story of tonight - the schuyler sisters - satisfied* (KAREN OLIVO IS A GODDESS !! she was actually crying !!!!! and still pulled it off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she sang a super high note on the ‘union’ and ‘always’ at the end, higher than the obc & still rocked it) - that would be enough (ari sounds SO GOOD as eliza,,,,, like seriously her voice is so perfect for the role) - history has it’s eyes on you - dear theodosia (ok the staging of this hit me real hard because it looked like miguel & wayne were singing TO us. like they were passing their nation onto us, the audience. and it hit me so hard in the chest.) - yorktown* (speakin as an immigrant, hearing so many people cheer at the ‘immigrants; we get the job done’ line made me super super emotional. i literally just started to cry)

- take a break - one last time* - burn* (ari broke the heart of every damn person in that room. she left such a long pause after her ‘you you you’ and everyone was holding their breath it was such a beautiful moment) - blow us all away* - it’s quiet uptown* - the world was wide enough* - finale / who lives, who dies, who tells your story* (which is named finale in my playbill?)
