Helped dump the body of his former prom date after his roommate murdered her.

Preston Taylor, pleaded guilty to robbery, conspiracy, disturbing or desecrating human remains, hindering apprehension and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the death of Sarah Stern.

He then testified against now-convicted murderer Liam McAtasney, who was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

McAtasney strangled Stern at her home and then tossed her body – which has never been recovered – into the Shark River Inlet.

He was convicted of first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, second-degree disturbing or desecrating human remains, third-degree hindering apprehension and fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence.

While the two had been friends, prosecutors say McAtasney had plotted to rob Stern of inheritance money. Her unoccupied vehicle was found hours later on the Route 35 Bridge with the keys still in the ignition.

Taylor helped dispose of the body.

Jurors in McAtasney’s trial also heard a chilling, grisly, confession, allegedly recorded by one of McAtasney’s friends.

Anthony Curry, an amateur filmmaker, came forward to authorities about a month after the murder. He testified that McAtasney had approached him the previous Thanksgiving with his plan to kill Stern and steal money left to her when her mother had passed away.

After Stern’s disappearance, Curry went to police, who had him contact McAtasney and arrange a face to face meeting. In a secret video recording set up in Curry’s car, McAtasney allegedly admitted in graphic detail choking Stern for a half an hour, stealing her safe and disposing of her body.

In the alleged confession, McAtasney described Stern going into convulsion and taking a half hour to die. 

Prosecutors alleged that McAtasney killed Stern over roughly $8,000 that was in her home. He apparently thought he was going to get $100,000 but was mistaken about the amount of cash.

Stern was last seen at her home on the night of December 2, 2016.

Juan Jose Salazar-Diaz, Florida inmate Y53195, born 1997, incarceration intake June 2024 at age 26, sentenced to life

Murder, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle

In June 2024, a Punta Gorda Florida man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in connection to the death of a 21-year-old gay Black man who was shot and killed in September 2018.

Juan Salazar-Diaz was convicted by a jury of second-degree murder and grand theft auto in March 2024. The 26-year-old opted to self-represent during trial after several public defenders withdrew due to conflicts of interest or due to irreconcilable differences, according to court records.

While Salazar-Diaz attempted to discredit law enforcement witnesses during the trial by poking holes as to when his DNA and fingerprints were placed in the victim's car and on a pack of Newport cigarettes collected near Kinard's body, a jury found him guilty after two hours of deliberation.

The Assistant State Attorney said that while no one will know exactly why Salazar-Diaz killed the other man — whether because of a sexual relationship gone sour or a fear of being outed as gay — the evidence overwhelmingly confirmed he is a killer.

Due to Salazar-Diaz's previous criminal history, including the fact that he had been released from prison in 2016 and was found to have committed the crime within three years of release, Salazar-Diaz was also sentenced under Florida's prison release re-offender law meaning he was given the maximum punishment for the new offense.

Before the conclusion of the hearing, the Judge asked if he should appoint an attorney for Salazar-Diaz for the appellate process, cautioning there are very specific guidelines needed to be followed or one could lose the right to appeal. Salazar-Diaz stood by his choice to continue to self-represent, asking the judge to find him indigent.

It was at that moment that the Judge addressed Salazar-Diaz's stand-by counsel, who spoke up to explain that Salazar-Diaz was asking the court to find him indigent for costs associated with the appellate process so he could receive records and transcripts without having to pay.

Despite the Judge's urgent cautioning about the difficulty of the appeals process and how even professional attorneys can have difficulty with the process, Salazar-Diaz stood by his decision to represent himself without trained counsel.

"It's now in your hands," the Judge said.

Austin Prather, Kentucky inmate 344629, born 2003, incarceration intake March 2026 at age 23, sentenced to life without parole

Murder, Robbery, Tampering with Evidence

In March 2026, a Science Hill Kentucky man was sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars following a formal sentencing in Pulaski Circuit Court for the 2023 shooting deaths of his father and grandfather.

In accordance with the plea, Prather received a sentence of Life Without the Possibility of Parole.

The violent investigation began on November 7, 2023, when Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a gunshot complaint in the Science Hill area. Investigators discovered that Prather had shot and killed his grandfather, Ardyth “Ray” Prather, Jr., in his driveway, and then proceeded to kill his father, Ardyth “Trae” Prather III, at a neighboring residence.

Prather also attacked his grandmother, Joanne Prather, who was both shot and stabbed during the incident. She was able to flee to a neighbor's home and identify her grandson as the assailant before being rushed for medical treatment.

In addition to the life sentence, Prather received concurrent sentences of twenty years for the attempted murder and robbery charges, and five years for tampering with physical evidence.

Marcus T Selby, Florida inmate J62875, born 2000, incarceration intake October 2025 at age 24, scheduled for release June 2027

Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding of a LEO, Fleeing with no Regard for Public Safety, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Willful Fleeing to Elude LEO

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at around 11:25 PM, an officer with the Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 white GMC Sierra. The officer observed the truck had a tail light out, and the driver was swerving and struggling to maintain a lane. As the officer approached the driver’s side window, he gave a verbal command to the driver to roll the window down. The driver lowered the window slightly and then took off at a high rate of speed.

Before this traffic stop, there was a disturbance at Diamond Billiards. An officer there reported that the same 2015 white GMC Sierra had just left that scene minutes before the traffic stop and the driver was identified as Marcus Selby. The officer who conducted the traffic stop recognized Selby’s license picture as the same person who fled the traffic stop.

After Selby fled the scene of the traffic stop, the officer notified dispatch and provided the direction of travel. A few minutes later, another officer with the Cape Coral Police Department initiated a traffic stop on the 2015 white GMC Sierra. The truck once again came to a stop, and as the officer approached, Selby took off. The officer was able to see the driver’s face before he fled and provided a description that matched Selby’s.

A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper then located the 2015 white GMC Sierra driving near Pondella Rd & Barrett Rd and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the truck fled. The FHP Trooper performed a PIT maneuver and the vehicle later crashed. The Trooper told officers with the Cape Coral Police Department that he was clearly able to see the driver and identified him as Selby. Selby fled on foot. Selby then turned himself into FHP on February 9, 2025, at around 5:40 PM. At the time Selby was taken into custody, his family member, who owned the 2015 white GMC Sierra, completed a sworn statement for FHP stating they wished to press charges for theft of the vehicle, as Selby did not have permission to take it.

Paul Raymond Chandler, Texas inmate 19725886, born 2002, incarceration intake April 2024 at age 21, sentenced to life

Murder

In April 2024, a Wichita Falls Texas man received two life sentences for strangling his pregnant girlfriend to death, resulting in the death of her unborn child.

Chandler was sentenced to life behind bars at a Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional institution on each of the two murder charges. The Judge set the sentences to run concurrently. 

As a part of the plea agreement, the charge of capital murder of multiple persons for which Chandler was indicted was reduced to felony murder, meaning he will maintain the ability to apply for parole.

Chandler’s case was initially set to go before a judge and jury on April 1, 2024, before the Judge granted a continuance, delaying the start of the trial. The date for that trial had not been set before Chandler’s plea hearing in which Chandler agreed to plead guilty.

The charges against Chandler stem from the June 2022 death of his girlfriend, Kaycee Wofford, 19, of Wichita Falls, who was 32 weeks pregnant with his child. As a result of Wofford’s death, the unborn child died as well.

The medical examiner said the unborn female child only died because her mother had died, and would have been a healthy baby if born.

If your guard is Grin or Pitbull, they will tell you to knock off the fucking foul language! Yes it is a double standard!

Lewd and Lascivious Battery (Florida term, Statutory Rape every place else),  Impregnation with man over 21 and girl less than 16

Convicted again in January 2025, for failure to register as a sex offender.

The inmate’s father, Jesse E. Laramee Sr, Florida inmate 567759, is in custody for similar offenses, and is scheduled to be released September 2026, having been incarcerated in October 2010.
