Marc A. Merino (BrooklynKid71) — Founder, BrooklynKid Studio After 30 years in the automotive industry, I’m shifting gears into professional design. My work merges two passions: powerful women and the raw aesthetic of powerful high-performance cars. My creative spark comes from my mother—a dignified “Brooklyn Queen.” When she passed, I told the world, “The world lost a beautiful woman, but I lost a beautiful world.” My art keeps her world alive. Even my studio’s Certificate of Authenticity tells her story: Purple for royalty, Red for Sicilian blood, Gold for her heart. I’ve created four copyrighted CGI female models. The closest to my heart is Diosa Almas, inspired by a survivor I met through my advocacy for abused children. As a survivor myself who didn’t disclose until 27, protecting children from lifelong suffering drives me. My art honors resilience. My roots trace to NYC’s ’80s graffiti scene—tagging “Pron” in Coney Island yards, bombing over 100 D.C. transit buses when NYC borrowed them. Born colorblind, I mastered light and shadow in pencil. Now digital hex-coding frees me to render dreams in vivid color. Recently diagnosed with Peripheral Artery Disease, I’m pivoting to design to assist with OTC medical supplies. Never a transactional salesperson—my first client and I still do business and are friends. That’s how I run BrooklynKid Studio: building relationships, honoring strength, and creating work that matters.
