I wonder if the reason Americans don't see the rising temperatures as that much of an issue because they already spend most of their time either indoors with A/C or in a car with A/C, while people in most other countries are used to being outside and get sad when they can't. Of course you don't see intolerable outdoor temperatures as an issue if you aren't outside that much. Just one of the ways being terminally disconnected from nature & community makes you a worse, more self-centered person who couldn't give less of a shit about the environment.
