Dean Winchester x Reader

Just a little drabble for those in need tonight!!! 

Warnings: Mentions of depression

Sitting across from Dean, a beer bottle hanging loosely from your fingertips, you tried to control the emotions whirling through you. Emotions that had your throat clogged, blinking back tears as a ball of anxiety settled deep in your belly.

Taking deep breaths, you started at Dean, who was deeply immersed in the book in front of him.

Wanting to talk to him, to let him know what you were going through. Needing to talk to someone, but scared to open yourself that much. To let someone see how broken you were.

“Dean, what do you do when it all seems too much?” You asked, your voice a little hoarse from holding your emotions in so long.

“What do you mean?” He asked, never lifting his gaze, and you almost gave up. But this feeling of hopelessness was threatening to drown you.

“When you don’t think you can go on anymore. When you’re so freaking tired, and things keep stacking up.”

His gaze finally lifted, his eyes full of concern. “I’m not the best example,” he argued. “I don’t handle that type of stuff very well.”

“Never mind, it was stupid,” you answered quickly, moving to stand up and rush to your room where you could finally let the tears fall.

Dean reached out, grasping your wrist, stopping your movements. “Y/N, its it’s not stupid,” he insisted. “Are you feeling like this?”

Nodding, you felt the tears start to slip down your cheek. “Dean, I just don’t know if I can do this anymore,” you whispered.

Before you knew it, he was scooping you up in his arms, carrying you down the hallway. Settling down on his bed, he pulled you against him, holding you tight. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“Dean, I thought it would sound like I wanted attention.”

“Never,” he insisted. “Our lives are hard, and having these types of feelings doesn’t make you less of a person. You shouldn’t be handling this alone.”

“But you do,” you whispered.

“It’s not like I’m exactly the prime example of mental health,” he muttered. “So, you want to tell me about it?”

“I don’t know what to say,” you tried but you could feel him shaking his head. “Dean, its it’s just. I feel so tired. Like bone weary tired where I just want it to end. I’m just sick of these feelings that seem to be tearing me apart.”

“I get it,” he answered simply. “Like no matter how much sleep you’re getting, your entire body is heavy and tired, and you just don’t want to feel anymore. But Y/N, there is beauty in the feeling, even if it’s hurting right now. It reminds you that you’re alive. That there are people out there who love you.”

“Are there? Because sometimes I feel so alone,” you admitted. “And that makes things even worse.”

“Hey, I’m here right now, aren’t I?” He countered.

“Dean, you know what I…,” you tried.

“Listen, you won’t even have to talk. Just one little word, a code word to let me know you’re feeling this way, and we can do this. Lay in a room, forget about the rest of the world.”

“You’d do that for me?” You asked, and he nodded.

“So, feeling a little better?” He asked.
