How come you haven't completed one story involving your character but I already know your character's trauma and favourite food

That's not to mention the trauma itself can technically be (part of) a backstory, if not an entire story. Doesn't matter how short or incomplete it is; the trauma can easily turn into a compelling and poignant narrative. I have faith even the worst writer can make their audience cry, if they try.

I can say whatever I want. You're the ones who couldn't let a little, generalized criticism pass without taking it personally.

Don't worry, I'm not taking your argument personally, nor am I trying to change your mind. In fact, being too kind to beginner writers when criticizing their story can halt their development. But still, a little positive encouragement of mine can't hurt.
