久しぶりに映画の試写に行ってきました。「ミルピエ～パリ・オペラ座に挑んだ男～」。史上最年少でバレエの殿堂パリ・オペラ座で芸術監督に抜擢されたバンジャマン・ミルピエ（ナタリーポートマンの夫）の手がける新作を追ったドキュメンタリー。バレエ映画の勝手なイメージとして、ストイックに張り詰めた空気間で進んでいくのかと思いきや、親しみを感じさせるミルピエの人間性から醸し出される温かみが映画の全編に感じられ、後味のとても良い作品でした。大きなプレッシャーを背負いつつ、一つのものを丹念に作り、まとめあげていく姿や、新しいものを生み出すために大きな組織に孤軍奮闘する様子には、共感を覚えずにはいられません。もちろん研ぎ澄まされたバレエ自体のすばらしさも、効果的な映像から存分に伝わってきて楽しめます。公演日までをカウントダウンで追っていく演出も、感情移入させられる仕掛けとしてすっかりはまりましたが、どんなに忙しくてもバカンスは５週間とるフランスには羨望の念しか抱けないのは日本人の性ですね。
