I never saw people say stuff like this enough when I was a teenager, so I’m saying it now.
I’m in my mid-thirties and I have never had sex. I’ve thought about it and could have had one or two opportunities if I put in more effort, but I always decided against it because I just wasn’t into it at the time.
I can safely say that I do not feel I have missed out on anything. I was perfectly capable, by myself, of learning about my own body and boundaries without anyone else there to muddy the waters. The immense pressure that was there in my teens/twenties to Have Sex Just Do It is basically gone. I’m vibing. I’ve got my routine by myself in bed that I enjoy, and that’s enough for me.
And in the unlikely event that I ever decide to have sex with someone in the future, I don’t feel at all like I’m lacking some essential Knowledge or Skill that would “make it good” for someone else. I fully expect to ask my partner out loud what they like and to receive an answer clearly communicated and to relax and have fun. And if it’s a disappointing experience, I’m fine with that too. It is what it is.
Sex is just not that big of a deal. I suspected it as a teen, and I’m more sure of it now. It’s fine to have it or not have it. It’s whatever.
Leaning into my autistic whimsy and cringe with these recent quality of life improvements. I let go of my childhood collections when my parents downsized and I was into being unburdened by stuff (aka I was housing insecure). I still don't like clutter, but I'm stable enough to indulge in one or two of each interest. I'm also very into vintage Polly Pockets and Blythe dolls.

What if the reason other queers keep assaulting me & the reason other queers assume I'm a prudish killjoy based on my flavor of autism are the same reason. Like what if I'm specifically being picked to push around because they know the Cool Kids will be predisposed to assume I'm exaggerating when I speak up.
Like one of the experiences that makes me nervous in queer spaces is that I once got a Very Unwanted lapdance from a drag queen while onlookers cheered (one of many experiences with forced grinding at parties). If I tell that story without context I might sound like a right winger who doesn't understand the audience interaction portion of drag shows. But this group of queens ALSO made date rape jokes about another transmasc who stumbled drunk onstage during the show, and it was so egregious that the organizers sent out an email apologizing to the entire town and promising never to book them again. Even though the violation against me wasn't as obvious because my hesitation wasn't as clear from their vantage point, I am CERTAIN that my discomfort was intentionally ignored because I was convenient (physically & demographically) to use as a prop.
It was my first introduction to the ways other queer people use transmascs as props/sex objects/punching bags specifically because we often embody a kind of masculinity that isn't threatening.

After too many of these I was weak & couldn't resist commenting with a call for more nuance. I got dogpiled by a couple dozen people calling me an angry mob, accusing me of having done harm, and claiming I don't care about Amber Heard or people whose abusers try to get restraining orders against them. Why do they think Amber Heard and victims of legal retaliation get targeted in the first place? Just fuck them all to hell. I didn't need to wake up to this.

One of the problems with growing up being told you are always the crazy one in a room full of sane people, is that you end up becoming really confused when people around you act in ways that don't make sense, because the idea that *they* might be projecting or distorting or otherwise acting badly out of mental illness was never an allowed possibility.
So when people around you act in hurtful ways that don't make sense, it's easy to gaslight yourself that it's because of some faux pas you've made. It's tempting to panic and flail in your communication and then pre-emptively apologize for how crazy you are being, which makes it easy for witnesses to be like "yeah you're definitely the crazy one." Meanwhile the person who defensively misread your texts and accused you of doing things that you didn't do is completely off the hook. Cause look, you're being crazy now! And obviously *their* hostile and/or mentally ill behavior is just a normal reaction to how crazy you are being!
And so you try to "be accountable" by going back to behavioral therapy and wonder why all this treatment for your "cognitive distortions" is only making things worse. Until you realize it's because the idea that your problems are all caused by cognitive distortion was the actual cognitive distortion all along.
It is extremely rare that I get unintentionally rickrolled. It is extremely common that I look at a link and think to myself, that's a rickroll, and I click on it. Then I get to enjoy the satisfaction of being correct, as well as the entirety of Never Gonna Give You Up. That shit is a banger. If someone offers me a link directly to that song you think I'm not gonna take it? No. You know the rules and so do I. It's Astley time.
If I want to make the case that my art looks good in a gallery wall I probably need to a) make art that fits in standard frames and b) get some cute frames and make a gallery wall myself.
I mostly have it pinned up on strings with clips, which is also cute but not photogenic 😅
