Back to the basics. After running into yet another roadblock in my first draft of my WIP, I’ve decided to go back to the drawing board. Perhaps, I’m not a pantser or discovery writer—at least, not fully. I’ve decided that since this is a project that I plan to be standalone, I could try to plot it a bit more than I would normally plot or plan a book. If I use what I’ve gathered during this time, then great. If not…well, at least I have something to look back on in order to help me get out of a tight spot in my writing. I’ve had two (going on three) brainstorming sessions so far and I’ve enjoyed each and every one of them. The ability to allow my creativity to flow without the pressure of writing words down in a draft is amazing. I wish I would’ve convinced my stubborn brain to do this sooner. * * So what about you? TRICK OR TREAT? Halloween is right around the corner and I’ve decided to give you a little treat to help celebrate. On Halloween, I’m releasing a short story, Ghosted. I’m publishing it as-is, meaning that it is unedited and unrevised, in the interest of time. I know I made a promise that I was coming back to blogging back in August/September…I don’t remember exactly when…and while I want to keep that promise…it’s not exactly feasible right now. My day job has become increasingly more chaotic and stressful and my number one priority is writing. My original goal was to finish the first draft of this WIP by the end of November. However, that no longer seems to be feasible due to the fact that a) I had to scrap the first 50k in early September after realizing that the story was going in the completely wrong direction and in the interest of not doing complete rewrite to fix it afterwards…I decided to start all over again in September and b) my day job is…stressful right now. It’s like the holiday season without the holidays. Anyway, the new deadline I’m trying to reach is February 2022. So I’m going to be completely honest with you all, and say that blogging is kind of on the back burner right now. However, I wanted to give you guys something for being so patient. I wanted to give you guys a little treat until my blog can come back, at least part-time. GHOSTED comes out on Halloween. It is a short story piece written entirely in 2nd person point of view. It’s a creepy story that will leave you wondering what is real and what isn’t. And I’m excited to share this story with you. GHOSTED.
