though i am friendly, i am not particularly chatty, so i tend to prefer interacting through the askbox or reblogs than direct messages (though feel free to DM regardless! just know it may take me some time to get back to you). this is, obviously, an rpf zone!! my belief regarding creator boundaries is that they apply to what the creator is shown, not what is created. i archive lock all of my fics as a precaution, and this blog is set to not come up in searches, so if a creator stumbles upon my work, they were either sent it by somebody or sought it out themselves (or tumblr fucked up and put me in tags sorry i tried)

“Don’t fuck up my face.” 

Vernias scoffed, but his hand stilled from where it was heading to Nick’s face. “It’s just eyeliner, it’s not going to kill you.” 

He smelled normal, which probably meant he was telling the truth, as Vern was a terrible liar, and always had some form of twinge to his scent whenever he tried. It also helped that Vernias was pretty much the only thing Nick could smell at the moment, crowded against the headboard of their bed and close enough for the smell of aloe to completely take over his senses. 

“Fine, but if I see any other color going towards my face, I’m kicking your ass and leaving.”

Vernias rolled his eyes at the (unfortunately, empty) threat. If there was one thing Nick regretted about moving in with his now-boyfriends, it was the way that dumb challenges actually had some stake to it, and he could no longer hide behind the ‘free tweet’ excuse. Somehow, Vern had managed to talk him into the idea of makeup, and now he was trapped against his own bed. 

“Will you relax? If you’re so tense, your face will be fucked up,” Vernias remarked, bracing his forearm against Nick’s cheek. 

Nick couldn’t help but notice how the scent gland on Vern’s wrist rubbed into his skin, and he couldn’t tell if it was on purpose or not. Either way, heat rose to his cheeks.

He decided instead to focus on Vern’s face, eyebrows furrowed in concentration. His face was so close to Nick’s that he really couldn’t be blamed for the rush of thoughts flooding his mind. The pinning did not help at all either, and if the omega noticed the change in his scent, he thankfully didn’t comment on it.

“Done!” Vern exclaimed. He leaned back to a more manageable distance, admiring his handiwork.

Nick took a second to examine himself in the mirror, and he had to admit his eyes looked a lot bigger. Maybe he wouldn’t just wash it off after snapping a few photos.

Vernias leaned in once more to peck his cheek, and this time Nick was sure he wasn’t imagining the strengthening of linen before Vernias’ wrist brushed his neck. Although subtlety was never Vern’s strong suit, he wasn’t even trying to hide the obvious marking, even when Nick was sure their scents were all over each other just due to their proximity. 

“I’m gonna go shower. You should say hi to Brent and Eevee before you wash your face,” Vern chirped, pushing himself upright and jumping to his feet.

Nick could still strongly sense Vernias’ scenting on him, despite being left alone. Washing his face would probably mean washing Vern off him, so he was content with leaving the eyeliner in until he showered.

He wandered into the living room, more out of boredom than necessity. He found Sophist sitting on the couch and scrolling on his phone, who didn’t pause to look up before sniffing the air.

“Why do you smell like you’ve rolled in a pile of Vern?” 

If he was being honest, Nick didn’t really know. However, plopping on the couch and pretending like he did made more sense than admitting that, so he sat next to Eevee. “Are you really surprised? It’s Vernias of all people.” 

Sophist didn’t seem too bought by the deflection, but whatever retort died in his throat as he looked at Nick. Sophist had the uncanny ability to stare at someone until they said something, but Nick didn’t think he’d ever process him looking so much. He didn’t think the eyeliner changed his face too much, but between the look on Sophist’s face and the thickening scent in the air, he had a feeling he knew the reason Vern was being so touchy earlier. 

Maybe this wouldn’t be the last time he let Vernias try makeup on him.

Vern likes making Kandi and would make the other three join him, or make gifts for them to show him that he loves them

AAAAAA YES I ADOREEE LOVE SQUARES I have an old fic idea very similar to this… based on the Leanna Firestone song “do you wanna be friends?” / newly unrequited. it’s for three characters but maybe i should adapt that to be Poly Crashers because oh my goddddd

For the added drama: everybody knows their crush’s crush (I.E. Brent knows that Sophist likes Nick, and Nick knows that Vern likes Brent, etc), and so then they also feel guilty about sitting on these feelings while the other is talking about how THEY are sitting on THEIR feelings … it’s enough to make me insane

I do agree that Vernick is probably very likely to stem from this!! Nick is just the most likely to act on his feelings, they’re already so close, and Vernias has enough love in his heart that he would put aside a crush to date a close friend. And Eevee is so hung up on it, and Brent is fighting himself to be a good supportive friend instead of trying to take advantagehfkdgsvsk AUGH !! Oh this would be so fun to write. Jotting down some notes for myself. Interestingggggg very very interesting thank you sm

Like, Vern’s planned an outing for the two of them, and they’ve talked about it extensively, they have a little to do list… in the days leading up to it he notices he’s a little off, the signs are there he’s going to come down with something, but he refuses to acknowledge it because he can’t get sick over the outing, that would suck. As luck would have it, the day arrives and like… he feels bad, but it’s manageable. And he wants to hang out with Nick, and he wants to go do stuff as enrichment in his enclosure, so he pretends he’s fine and just kinda powers through it until he absolutely cannot hide the fact that he feels like shit, and even then he’s still insisting he’s fine and they don’t have to go home to and increasingly exasperated/worried Nick. (Bonus if it takes Nick a while to notice anything is off heheh)
