So, BB came to my city last night, obviously I went. I just wanted to share some of the pictures and videos I have with you guys. They really put on a fantastic show and if any of you haven't seen them live, you need to do it! They are very humble and truly care about their fans and that shows through their performance. I hope you guys like the pics! -G
I discovered BB when I was in eighth grade, so about in 08-09ish. I was going through the worst of the worst. I was depressed, had a shitty relationship and even contemplated suicide I was so miserable. One night I was on iTunes looking for music and in the top 100 was “I will not bow” so being myself I was like okay this sounds cool. shortly after that I started looking into more music of theirs, and the deeper I went the more in love I became. finally I found a band/artist that truly spoke to me, that almost understood what I was going through. Their music did more then make me happy, it pulled me out of suicide and gave me back my life. I know it’s basic or weird to think a band saved someone’s life, but they did. especially Ben. His voice reached out and spoke to me and I can’t thank him enough for everything he’s done for me, even though I’ve never personally met him.
This past July, the 26th to be exact, I finally saw my favorite band in concert. I was so nervous it was crazy! my anxiety was off the charts and I almost had sort of a mini panic attack I was just all over the place. as soon as the intermission was done after Starset played (another amazing band that you all should check out), the lights went out and they walked on stage. my heart bursted, and all my nervous anxious feelings went away in an instant. I never felt more at home then I did at that concert. I wish I got the opportunity to talk personally to Ben about my experience and how him and the rest of the guys really saved my life, but I didn’t. one day maybe, one day. Fortunately, after the concert they tweeted a photo (the one of Ben posted above looking on to the concert) and I tweeted to them about how incredible the night was, and Ben favorited it. What made me so happy was not only did my favorite artist actually notice me, but he noticed me out of all the other people that have been tweeting him and the band for months! as you can see above, my tweet has been the only tweet he’s favorited this year (other than the second post under mine). it’s like I felt so important in that moment and I got so close to tears of joy.
Ben, if you ever see this, thank you for everything you’ve done. whether you honestly realize this or not, you truly saved my life and you truly gave me the willpower to say fuck it and keep going no matter what. I’m so glad you & the boys are back, and I’m so happy that I could’ve been apart of your comeback. I’m so fucking happy you gave music and touring another chance even with the amount of pain you were/are in. I fucking love you and your music, I hope one day we can meet and sit down and talk together..until then..ROCK ISNT DEAD! ❤️
I was just finishing 6th grade in ‘07 and heard Dance with the Devil and from there fell in love. I bought their three albums as fast as I could (a lot of saving up on my part) and Dear Agony when it released. I had just finished freshman year in high school ('09) and heard they were going to be performing close to where I lived, I wanted to bug my mom about it at the time but we didn’t have a lot of money so I just relaxed and told myself to wait. After that they went into the hiatus and wow, I cried so hard because Breaking Benjamin got me through a couple of horrible years at that point and knowing I wouldn’t see them was beyond heart breaking for me. Fast forward the next couple years and again I cried because they were back, they were putting out an album soon and I can’t remember the last time I smiled so genuinely. The day Dark Before Dawn came out I woke up extra early and played it was on Spotify before I had to go to work for 6 am. A week ago I saw them in concert and it was so amazing. Breaking Benjamin has been with me through so much in my life and finally- finally seeing them after all these years was beyond perfect. I teared up at the beginning of every song and I was never more happy and at peace in that concert than I can remember.
(I’m not sure whether this was supposed to be part of the ‘Tell Me How You Discovered BB’ thing we did recently or an actual confession, but I’m posting it without a graphic because it’s so long and I think it can stand pretty well on its own. :) -K)
I discovered BB in 6th grade when my cousin played i will not bow. I thought it was like heavy metal at the time lol, and even though it kinda freaked me out I listened to phobia to check them out. I remember listening to that album daily while i played video games, and to this day I still listen to them, and im seeing them live next month!
Woo! I hope you have a great time at the gig. :D

“Every one of their albums has at least one song that speaks directly to me. On the latest one it is Hollow, every single time he sings “Love left me hollow” I can feel it in my chest, truer words have never been sung about my life.“
“BB’s music is sort of cathartic, for me. It’s quite negative sometimes, but somehow it takes all the negativity from inside me and leaves me purified. I always feel much better, much calmer, after listening to breaking benjamin… it’s the feeling of calm after the storm has passed.”
I "found" them about a year ago, when I went through my musical discovery phase. I never really listened to music too often as a kid, even into middle school. I didn't really like pop, and young me though it and country were all that existed. A friend was playing I will not bow, and I had a weird sense of recognition, and I looked into the band, realising I had heard a lot of their music. I love them, honestly they are one band I'm never disappointed in!
It’s really great to hear that. :)
Thanks for sharing! -K
“It really bothers me that Ben is the only member listed on Breaking Benjamin's Facebook page. The whole band was listed for awhile, but then removed not long afterwards. The band is more than just Ben, and the official page isn't helping break that mindset of Ben being the ‘only important one’.“
“I cannot describe how much I fucking love Breaking Benjamin. I can connect with the lyrics a lot, and I doubt any one will ever understand how much this band means to me. It is a dream of mine to see them in concert.“

I really don’t know where else I can post this, but I just really need to say this.
I can honestly say, with absolute certainty that I would not be alive today if it wasn’t for Breaking Benjamin. Their music is so deep, and they really can help people through pain. They don’t stray away from saying things that need to be said, and they touch people in the most unimaginable ways.
When I was 14 years old, and a young kid struggling with being gay, going to an all girls Catholic school, striving to find support, and hating myself every single day because of what I was feeling, I would listen to Breaking Benjamin. Aside from the support I got from the very few individuals who accepted me, the music of Breaking Benjamin is honestly what got me through such an incredibly difficult time. I was incredibly suicidal at the time, and they are honestly one of the major reasons I didn’t kill myself. They helped me feel everything. They helped me deal with the pain, and helped me to learn to love myself.
I know that they will probably never read this, but I think it’s incredible that they use their talent and their platform to make music that literally has the power to save lives, and impact people in such an incredibly positive way.
Thank you for helping me get through such an incredibly difficult time. Thank you for leaving such an incredible mark on the world, and for everything you do.

I didn’t know whether you wanted this made into a confession or not, so I’ve just posted it. You have an incredible story of resilience, and I’m so glad that you shared it with us. :) Breaking Benjamin helped me hold on through dark parts of my life as well, as they’ve done for countless others. It’s amazing that just by making his passion into his career, Ben has helped so many of us through the dark and into the dawn (sorry not sorry). :) -K
I was in sixth grade (about 2011) and a teacher was asking what songs to put on a mix CD, and a kid said "Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin" I can't remember if she put it on there, but I went home and listened it and to this day I am still quite obsessed with BB
I learned about Breaking Benjamin in class too! School is a great way to find new music, what with everyone coming together with different backgrounds and tastes. :)

Come tell us how you discovered Breaking Benjamin!
I discovered Breaking Benjamin through my older brother. They were an off band he listened to, like every once in a while. But when I first heard them I liked them, and I actually helped him get back into them to the point where he bought albums. My first Breaking Benjamin album was Phobia, and now I own all of theirs. My first Breaking Benjamin song, however, was Sooner or Later. :)
It’s neat that his influence made you a fan, but your influence made him a bigger one. And Sooner or Later was one of my top favourite Breaking Benjamin songs when I first got into them. :)

I started to listen to breaking benjamin when i was 4, around 2003. Their music has helped me so much and i have endless love for them and their music 🙌
Whoa, that’s really young to have such great taste in music! When I was four, I was listening to Workin’ Out Barbie and The Wiggles. ;)

I don't exactly remember what song I heard first by BB bc I was so young probably around 7 or 8 but I think my dad showed them to me. That was around like 2008. But since then I've fell in love with them. When I learned about the hiatus I was pretty upset about it and hopes they would get back together. When I heard they where gonna release a new album I about flipped out lol. But BB has been in my life as far as I can remember. (I'm 16 now)
It’s really cool that you got to grow up with their music. Your dad has great taste. :)

I discovered Breaking Benjamin in 2012. I saw one post with the song "Dance with The Devil" I liked the title and decided to listen to it. I immediately felt goose bumps from DWTD. After a while I listened some other songs and gradually became a fan. I gave my soul to BB when I was watching Live - The Homecoming. Since then Breaking Benjamin is my favorite band :)
Sweet. :) I wonder, how difficult was the hiatus for you? I was a fan of the band before Dear Agony, so I got to experience the band while they were alive and steady, but I wonder how it felt to get into the band when everything was so uncertain about whether it would even continue to exist?
Anyways, thanks for sharing! -K

I honestly don’t exactly remember how I discovered Breaking Benjamin, but “Dear Agony” is the very first album I clearly remember buying. (It came out the same day as my birthday, what a cool coincidence!) But from that point on I knew that this band would become a major part of who I am. And I am so, so fing glad I found them. I really am. ❤
I’m so glad that you found them, too. :)
