ok so I’ve been seeing portrayals of jimmy as a POS who doesn’t gaf about the people around him, and that is partly true. but he’s not fully that kind of asshole. personally, I believe that he is the kind of bad person that isn’t aware of it. I’m referencing bojack horseman here, as their actions are similar in intent and their inability to see future consequences. he’s the kind of evil that’s absolutely pitiful. he hurts the other people around him, isolating himself, and he doesn’t even know it until it’s too late. he says repeatedly, “I can fix it,” but he can’t. and he could change, but he’s unable to see what he’s doing wrong. and he never will, because the one person who did not push him away, curly, enables jimmy’s behavior as a result of his emotional manipulation. but he doesn’t even know that. he fucks up, and fucks up, and he knows, but he can’t break the pattern because he just can’t see what the pattern even is. I thought about the parallels between bojack and jimmy when I watched jimmy’s monologue (curly burning) and his “I made a mistake, yada yada, it can be just you and me, im so fucking sorry,” reminded me of bojack’s “I need you to tell me im a good person” lines. he’s the kind of evil which you kind of feel bad for because he could change, and if he knew what he was doing wrong, he’d want to, but he just really can’t.
