the doctor dropped his coffee the moment he laid his eyes on the woman in front him. it was impossible — he shouldn’t have been able to recognize her. after all, he had successfully wiped his memories of her. every single one of them. he had spent years trying to remember what she looked like to no avail. instantly forgetting the mess he had just made and without thinking, he practically ran to her, trying his hardest not to grin like a fool. “you have no idea how disappointed i’m going to be if you turn out to be a zygon.”
clara had been walking around the town, getting a feel for her new surroundings and learning as much as she could about the environment she was in. what she hadn't expected was for the doctor to practically burst up to her, coffee abandoned on the floor. her mouth opened to speak, then closed --- only for her to gasp and wrap her arms around him. he remembered her, she had no idea how but clara could only be thankful towards whatever it was that allowed him to identify her. “doctor, you have no idea how much i've missed you.” there were two versions of him in the island as far as she could tell, which would only complicate things further. “how did you remember?”
