I told them that this is the adjustment period and I didn't come out to them because I wanted to be able to explore HRT as an option without feeling like I had to swallow all my doubts to convince them that I was 100% ready. they think that's reasonable but that there's something else going on that is why I didn't come out to them.

Incredibly silly reaction tbh, you somehow came out both too late so they feel disrespected and too early because they don't have time to "adjust". Your kid is being the most vulnerable she's ever been to you and trusting you with an important aspect of her true identity and by God, the most important thing is to let her know that the way she did it hurt your feelings
